As you may have already noticed, the Philips HTS6515/05 has two rather than the conventional five surround sound speakers. It manages this by deploying an Ambisound system. Combined with Smart Surround sound, which optimises settings, the results are life-like and enveloping - just like having multiple 5.1 speakers! Of course, with just two speakers and a subwoofer, it's not only quicker to set up, but also considerably less cluttered than a conventional surround sound system. Backing up this spacious surround sound is a powerful bass response from the active subwoofer.
It's not just the innovative sound quality that sets the HTS6515 apart, but also its first rate picture. Thanks to an HDMI output and upsampling to 1080p, the HTS6515 can produce images that are a match for many separate DVD players. There's detail and depth here, that you wouldn't have thought possible from a home cinema system of this price a few years ago.
As you'd expect from such a forward looking design, Philips has also enabled the HTS6515 to work with the latest sources. A USB 2.0 socket allows for the connection of high speed USB devices with a transfer rate of up to 480 Mbps. Added to this, Philips has fitted the HTS6515/05 with FullSound technology. Based on audio post-processing algorithms this uses a Digital Signal Processor to restore a fuller bass and brighter treble response to MP3 recorded sound.
Styled to match the latest flat screen TVs, the HTS6515 looks very slick and won't be embarrassed by even the finest TV sets on sale today.
