Over the past 20 years, Cambridge Audio has been market leaders with its range of budget amplifiers - the Cambridge A1 was one of the best selling amplifiers of all time! So we're proud to bring you its latest model, the Cambridge Audio Topaz AM1.
'Sound first' philosophy
Designed from the ground-up, the AM1 is a no-frills amp with just the basics, but the best sound quality possible. There are no tone controls or fancy equalizers, no flashing lights or unnecessary sockets. What you get is four line level inputs (1 with output), balance control, a volume knob, and superb sound quality!
High quality internal components
By cutting back on the extras, Cambridge Audio have managed to retain high quality components. Connect your MP3 player or iPod, CD player, PC and TV and you'll enjoy a true-to-life sound quality that's leagues ahead of similarly priced multi-media speakers. This is proper hi-fi at a low-fi price.
Built to last
Like other Cambridge Audio Topaz models, the AM1 is also far better built than the class average. A full metal casing with brushed aluminium front panel gives the AM1 the look of an amp' costing two or three times as much.
Genuine hi-fi doesn't get any better value than this!

excellent powerful simple product
I bought this amp to replace my aging Rega which was dying. It is attached to a pair of the Cambridge bookshelf speakers and then to a tv.
I plugged it all together and turned it on and wow what a superb clear and controlled sound. Don't be put off by the modest 20watts, this is a strong quality performer at an amazing price. By the way who needs tone controls????

Sounds fantastic for the price
We bought a Topaz AM1 and Q Acoustics speakers, plus the Denon turntable from the Tunbridge Wells store. Excellent service as ever - they can't be more helpful. I have to say the amplifier is incredible for such a low price. No tone controls or remote so all the price is in the power supply. Even at 20 watts its a loud piece of kit. And the Q speakers at £89 are a steal as other reviews have mentioned. The Denon turntable was a bit fiddly to set up but sounds great. All in all it shows you don't have to spend a fortune to get proper hifi sound.

No Frills Great Sound.
This is one of the cheapest amps on the market but i would say cheap and cheerful not cheap and nasty. I've linked it to a Cambridge Audio DAB, a somewhat antediluvian Phillips Cd player and a more modern Acer computer. It plays through a pair of old but still functional Wharefdales. As that set up would indicate I am not great Hi-Fi buff. However, my aging ears can tell bad sound when i hear it. This amp sounds fine. Good bass sound and seems to cope with my eclectic taste from Heavy Metal to Mozart. With only three knobs and no flashing lights, its pretty easy to use. All for the price of a decent meal out for two. A really good budget amp.

Very good value for money
This product is great for the cost vs. performance. The only thing I think it lacks is a treble & bass adjustment.

product, price and service first class
Fantastic Cambridge amplifier for only 80 quid from those very nice people at Richer Sounds in Glasgow. Cannot be beaten for first class price and product combination, not to mention the faultless service from the guys at Richer Sound Glasgow.
