Over the past 20 years, Cambridge Audio have been market leaders with their range of budget amplifiers. The Cambridge A1 was one of the best selling amplifiers of all time! It is therefore with great pleasure that we bring you their latest model; the Cambridge Audio Topaz AM1.

Designed from the ground-up, the AM1 is a no-frills amp with just the basics but the best sound quality possible. There are no tone controls or fancy equalizers. No flashing lights or unnecessary sockets. What you get is four, line level inputs (1 with output), a balance control and a volume knob; oh, and what you also get is superb sound quality! By cutting back on the extras, Cambridge Audio have managed to retain high quality components. Connect your MP3 player or iPod, CD player, PC and TV and you'll enjoy a true-to-life sound quality that's leagues ahead of similarly priced multi-media speakers - trust us, this is proper hi-fi at a low-fi price.

Like other Cambridge Audio Topaz models, the AM1 is also far better built than the class average. A full metal casing with brushed aluminium front panel gives the AM1 the look of an amp' costing two or three times as much.

Genuine hi-fi doesn't get any better value than this!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Does what it says on the tin - very well Needed to replace an old NAD 3020 for second system, so this was the ideal product 15 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Amazing value amp For the money, this is the best amp you can buy, hands down. 13 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Clean Simple Amp I love this amp, 20 WPC didn't sound like a lot to me as my Yamaha amp from the early 90's had 65 WPC. I was pleasantly surprised as paired with the Wharfedale 9.0 diamonds it is plenty powerful enough I use it as a second system in a small office but I believe it would work also in a medium-sized room. It is obviously a cheap entry level amp and that maybe a factor in most people's purchase, it was in mine but I also chose it for its elegant stripped down aesthetics. It produces loud clear detailed sound when paired with a CD player. However when used with mobile devices you have to turn the volume up higher. I was aware also of what other reviewers have mentioned about the sound coming through one speaker at low levels I didn't really find this a problem at all because a slight turn of the volume and then it comes out the second speaker and you're still listening to the music at relatively low-level if that's what you wish to do. 04 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Incredible value for money Bought this because I blew a channel on my Onix OA21 and needed a quick and cheap replacement. I was surprised at how clean and punchy this thing sounds. Vocals are crystal clear and project well into the room. If this amps anything to go by, the hi-end Cambridge amps must sound incredible. 27 January 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just listen I bought this to replace my ageing Arcam 5 which always impressed. The AM1 slotted in nicely except for the lack of banana plug connection to the binding posts. Straight out of the box, it spoke to me, lovely warm bottom end on "Long Distance Love" by little Feat, crisp delivery on "Ruby Baby" by Donald Fagen, and a superb rendering of Kind of Blue by Miles Davis, which did all the right things. Voice quality on FM via a Denon TU260 was also brilliant. I used it with Royd Elans and a Macbook pro on spotify and CDs, I am not a hifi purist, but if you just want quality sound without frills, this is a great buy, I couldn't find anything better second-hand at this price! 13 January 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by just buy it!!! This amplifier is fantastic it sounds phenomenal with mi Diamond 9.0's and the aesthetics are great to. even plugged into my mac mini the sounds feel like they were from a super expensive amp. the only thing that would be nice is a remote but to be fair that's included with the next model up 29 December 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by A genuine bargain This amp in various incarnations has been around for 15 years or so. Having owned the A1 mk 3 model i was hoping that this latest version would perform as well as that did . First impression 's are of a very well built and good looking unit. I really like the simplicity of this model ,no tone controls just a input selector balance and volume control in a well matched system this is all thats needed. I linked the amp up to my vintage Philips 473 cd player ( 26 years old and sounds as good as the day it was purchased ) and a pair of Wharfdale Diamond 9.0 's. .Sound quality is nothing short of amazing for the money slightly warm with plenty of detail and attack excellent timing and although rated at 20 watts per channel with the volume set at around a third loud enough to upset my neighbours . If you're looking for a good sound on a tight budget buy this amp you wont find anything better without spending twice as much . 20 November 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent Arrived very quickly, well packed and - well - it just works. Replaced an old one I bought secondhand 30 years ago which cost me in pounds considerably more than this one. And this one sounds better - what a good buy. 25 September 2014
