Over the past 20 years, Cambridge Audio have been market leaders with their range of budget amplifiers. The Cambridge A1 was one of the best selling amplifiers of all time! It is therefore with great pleasure that we bring you their latest model; the Cambridge Audio Topaz AM1.

Designed from the ground-up, the AM1 is a no-frills amp with just the basics but the best sound quality possible. There are no tone controls or fancy equalizers. No flashing lights or unnecessary sockets. What you get is four, line level inputs (1 with output), a balance control and a volume knob; oh, and what you also get is superb sound quality! By cutting back on the extras, Cambridge Audio have managed to retain high quality components. Connect your MP3 player or iPod, CD player, PC and TV and you'll enjoy a true-to-life sound quality that's leagues ahead of similarly priced multi-media speakers - trust us, this is proper hi-fi at a low-fi price.

Like other Cambridge Audio Topaz models, the AM1 is also far better built than the class average. A full metal casing with brushed aluminium front panel gives the AM1 the look of an amp' costing two or three times as much.

Genuine hi-fi doesn't get any better value than this!

Rated 5 out of 5†by No frills, solid sound. Great product for the price. I've heard far poorer sound definition on much more expensive amps. This has a full and detailed range and depth. Beautifully balanced sound. Highly recommended and at this price, what more do I need to say? 12 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Great budget amplifier Great sounding amplifier. A good way to start a budget system. 08 September 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Perfect basic amp If you need a stereo amp without blowing a hole in your pocket, this is great. It does exactly what it says on the tin. Cambridge Audio products are all sturdily built and a have subtle finish, the AM1 is no exception. 21 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Great Amp. ! I purchased this to play MP3's through my desk-top rather than a 2.1 system or something similar. I am playing it through some old but reasonable quality Sony speakers I had lying around and it sounds brilliant! like some other posters have stated, you can really hear what you've been missing. It is so punchy and expressive. I play my whole collection on shuffle so the selection is completely random but it delivers whatever is thrown at it with shere class. I can't wait to try it with some even better speakers, I think I will need to have a lie down! A top purchase! 08 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Great, affordable amp Good, solid amp. Well built with a sound that is way beyond the price. You see 20w output and initially think it's going to be underpowered, it isn't it's crisp, sharp with the sound filling the room nicely. 04 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5†by For the money it puts lovely music in your living room This is a great little starter amp that delivers clear music to your ears. I tested the amp on a pair of Mission X1 speakers and an apple airport express. Overall the hi and mid ranges were great and this amp only slightly weakened on the bass which was not as controlled as I would have liked. However, it was a pleasant quality and delivered enough power to entertain. On the classical music the sound was clear and transparent and accurate. I would have no quibbles in recommending this amp for a small system where economy is a main consideration as it delivers without economy in the sound. For 80quid what else can you expect. 03 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Shocked ! I bought this amp with a pair of Acoustic Energy AE1's to replace a set of AE active PC speakers (total cost £160) and the cost was the same as a direct replacement. And i am stunned by the sound produced. I have been into HiFi for many years and i can't believe the purity and punch this amp produces. Truly HiFi for peanuts. You really can't go wrong. No bells, no whistles, just pure sonic fidelity. 01 August 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Great Amp This is my first amplifier I have bought for a hi-fi i'm no master when it comes down to which ones are best but for a first hi-fi set up on a budget its a amazing amp with plenty of guts and the sound quality is superb. My Wharfedale Diamond 9.1's sound epic. 27 July 2014
