After decades of producing award-winning amps and tuners, Cambridge Audio have combined the two and launched the Topaz SR10 stereo receiver.
The Cambridge Audio SR10 stereo receiver combines a well-equipped and powerful amplifier with an excellent quality FM/AM RDS tuner.
Putting the tuner to one side for the moment, the SR10 is a pretty impressive amplifier in its own right. A high quality, discrete design amplifier is powered by an oversize toroidal transformer. This quality of componentry is usually reserved for more expensive amplification and helps give the SR10 a class-leading power output of 85 watts per channel - and, yes, that is in to an 8 ohm load, so there's no 'massaging' of figures here! Such effortless power gives the Cambridge Audio SR10 the ability to drive a wide range of speakers to high volume levels, even in larger than average rooms. Alternatively, two sets of outputs make it possible to run a second set of speakers, simultaneously, in another room.
In addition to the two sets of speaker outputs, the SR10 also features three, line level, inputs and an output for recording. There's also a good quality MM phono stage built-in, meaning that you can connect up a turntable without the need for a separate phono pre-amp. At the front there's an input for an MP3 player or iPod and a headphone socket. In short, the Cambridge SR10 has everything you need to form the basis of a complete hi-fi system. CD, TV, turntable and Blu-ray or games console can all be plugged in around the back with your headphones and MP3/iPod slotting in at the front. The tuner radio, of course, is already built-in. The FM/AM design offers 30 pre-sets and excellent quality sound. The RDS functionality is easy to assimilate via the dimmable, cool-blue display.
Rounding off this well-balanced receiver is a full function remote control. Should you match up a Cambridge Audio CD player, DVD or Blu-ray, the SR10's remote will work those, too.
Built to Cambridge Audio's usual high standard, the Topaz SR10 is also far better made than the class average. A high rigidity metal casing with brushed aluminium front panel looks and feels a lot more luxurious than thin steel case and plastic front panel that's more common from rival receivers.
If you've always admired the sound, build quality and value of Cambridge Audio amplifiers but have sought a built-in tuner or more power, then the Cambridge Audio Topaz SR10 is for you!
