If you love radio and hi-fi sound but aren't interested in AV surround sound, then the Yamaha RS700 stereo receiver is for you!
Bringing together a top quality amplifier with high spec tuner makes the Yamaha R-S700 the ideal choice for 2-channel radio fans.
Beginning with the amplifier and the RS700 gets off to a powerful start. With 100 watts per channel, this receiver has more power than many similarly priced amplifiers, making it ideal for larger rooms. Yet there's also a clear emphasis on quality. ToP-ART (Total Performance Anti-Resonance Technology) chassis construction makes the Yamaha not only solid to use but also highly resistant to vibration. Other audiophile touches include twin heat sinks, gold-plated speaker terminals and Pure Direct function for a shorter signal path. The upshot of all this is much more precise, crisper and realistic sound than a similarly priced AV receiver.
Matching the top quality sound is an impressive feature count. The multi-room feature means that with active speakers (or separate amp and passive speakers) second and third (using speakers B) listening zones are possible. What's more a second remote control is included, allowing you to control the main system from an auxiliary room. Speaker switching allows for speakers in another room or switching between different types of speakers within the same room. The Yamaha R-S700 is also equipped with a special socket that allows for the connection of optional YDS-12 or YDS-11 iPod docks. Once connected, you can control and display your iPod information via the Yamaha's remote control. Finally, there's also full compatibility with the optional Yamaha Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver (YBA-10) for seamless device integration.
In terms of sockets, the RS700 comes with a separate subwoofer output, two recording loops, three line level inputs, a phono stage for turntable and pre/power amp split links. In short, this is one comprehensively equipped receiver. Finally, there's the built-in tuner, of course. With 40 presets, FM/AM bandwidths and Yamaha's fine reputation for quality radio, the built-in tuner is amply equipped.
Finished to Yamaha's typically high standards, with weighty yet smooth controls, the R-S700 is a joy to use and built to last. For a quality stereo receiver, this is one of the best.
