VIVID PICTURE QUALITY AND 3D COMPATIBLE

With its 3D compatibility, the Samsung is ideal for use with your 3D TV. Using Samsung's expertise and quality components, the BDF5500 delivers a first rate performance - whether 3D or 2D. Images are vividly detailed and have bags of realism. The sound quality is equally impressive with crisp clarity and strong dynamics. 1080p video-upscaling gets the best from your DVDs, too. The BDF5500 will also playback a wide range of different types of disc including MKV, DivX, AVCHD and JPEG files.

ALL THE BEST WEB APPS

These give you access to a wide selection of web apps, including popular sites such as the BBC iPlayer, YouTube and Facebook. AllShare lets you share video, photo and music files with other DLNA enabled components within your home network, such as laptop, PC or NAS drive. A USB socket lets you attach a USB media device and stream content, including videos, directly from this.

COMPACT AND SLEEK

With its compact size and smooth new looks, the Samsung BDF5500 looks better than ever. The new navigation control on the top panel makes the basic functions easy to access and the player's compact dimensions makes it easy to place.

For the next step up in Blu-ray, the Samsung BDF5500 is the smart choice.

Rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 2 out of 5 by Does not do Lovefilm I went into Richer Sounds and explained that I wanted a DVD/BluRay player to replace a Samsung that no longer plays Lovefilm. I bought the Samsung BD-F5500 as the cheaper option than the wireless version. I was told that the wifi was the only difference. I was also told that Samsung is generally better when it comes to web features. In the event, this player does not work with Lovefilm. Nor can you add any other web services. It is a step backward from the one I want to replace. With luck, Richer Sounds will let me trade up to a player that does work with Lovefilm. 10 December 2013
Rated 3 out of 5 by Poor quality disc transport The unit is OK, but a bit flimsy. When inserting a disc its pretty noisy with a high pitched whine making watching films a real chore. I'm not sure if it was just a dodgy unit or if they are all like that. The DLNA client works, but is pretty slow and temperamental. Richer Sounds swapped the unit for a Sony BDPS4100 (and that's a great unit). 24 November 2013
