Had a couple of Humax recorders and so when our last one became up for replacement another Humax was the first option. The person at the Milton Keynes branch recommended this unit.
Initially had issues with it freezing which on researching seemed to be down to the auto update function so switched that off.
But the biggest and most frustrating issues are around the user interface. The is no Info button, you have to use a very unituitive sequence of key presses on the remote to get to the program info which differ for live tv and recording. The interface is very slow so you wind up pushing the same buttons many times.
The overall layout of the menus is poor.
The picture quality seems to lack any vibrance on recordings also.
Tried living with it for about 6 months but going to find something else. Last time we buy a Humax,

This product has great features
Wont have a chance to test this product until I move at the end of the month. Have been using the Freesat version for several years which I have been satisfied with (once you get used to the time delay from command to action).
Richer Sounds as usual give good service with superfast delivery even on standard delivery and are competitive as usual.

NOT AS USER FRIENDLY AS THE HUMAX T2
I bought this as a replacement for my last Humax. It is not as easy to use and rather than have files simply listed that have been recorded, a pointless picture appears instead which you can't really see properly so I can't see the point. You can't review a programme without changing from the one playing which is annoying if you are listening to the news but want to flick through what else is on and get more detail. It is also noisier in operation. Hopefully I will get used to the differences. No issues with Richer Sounds though, they are a good bunch on knowledgeable friendly people.

Almost a great box
An impressive machine that attempts to deliver the ability to record Freeview programmes and play on demand services seemlessly. It almost succeeds. Scrolling to the left on the guide allows you to go back in time and play programmes on BBC iplayer, ITV hub and other services. I found the guide a little slow to navigate and sluggish to use compared to my old Humax freeview box from 2010. The EPG is quite difficult to read. Using channel logos to denote channels instead of numbers is not necessary and makes it harder to tell which channel it is. Recording programmes works fine, but involves too many button presses. No clear display on the front panel so it is hard to tell if the machine is on or off. It was too much for my 77 year old mother, who coped well with earlier Humax models. Overall a good attempt, but more development by Humax (and rivals) needed before we have a really good, user friendly Freeview Play recorder on the market.

A lot is packed inside such a tiny box
Was extremely easy to set up and have working, in fact form opening the box to watching a programme took just over fifteen minutes.
It took about a further half an hour to play with all the buttons on the very clearly marked remote and once used, to date, I have only had to revert to the instruction book twice. It really makes a refreshing change not to have to go online to find out anything.
Certainly a product to be recommended

EASY, PEASY!!! THIS PRODUCT IS ALL I COULD ASK FOR.
The help and advice I received from Richer Sounds through the telephone was invaluable. It enabled me to chose the right product for my purpose.
It is easy to use and I am already finding great satisfaction in using the features I need, and many more.
The delivery was fast and the item packaged well.
