"The HDR-1000S is the best Freesat box we've tested. It's a pleasure to use, and picture and sound rule supreme." What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision magazine, tested at £280.

Now with 'free time', the Humax HDR-1000S makes freesat even more appealing.

G2 VERSION NOW WITH FREE TIME

The second generation of freesat now comes with a smart new TV guide called 'free time'. Not only is this faster than ever but it also allows you to move backwards through programmes that you might have missed. Far easier than using a separate catch-up TV application, free time integrates past TV programmes with the programme guide for truly smart TV. In addition to this, 'free time' also offers a Now & Next facility for easy viewing of current and soon to-air programmes plus a Showcase feature for suggestions. All catch-up TV services are now included with freesat free time now, including BBC iPlayer, ITV Player*, 4oD and Demand 5.

ALL THE BENEFITS OF FREESAT+

Freesat+ is a subscription free, digital TV service that you can connect to an existing satellite dish - with no monthly payments! Just like other free-to-air services, you'll receive HD TV channels and services that make the most of HD Ready TVs. With up to 5 times the picture detail, HD TV images offer stunning realism, whatever the genre. The built-in HDD system also lets you pause and rewind live TV! It doesn't stop there, either. Twin TV tuners mean that you can record 2 channels at the same time or watch one program whilst recording another. (Dual LNB satellite feed required, ask about installation).

500GB EQUALS 250 HOURS OF STORED TV

With a hefty 500GB hard drive built-in, the HDR-1000S can store 250 hours of standard TV recordings or 125 hours of HD TV, making it ideal for storing and watching your favourite shows again - even if it's too late for catch-up TV.

USB AND OPTIONAL WI-FI

With the USB port you can connect a media player or external hard drive and watch stored video on your TV. By using a separately available dongle you can also connect to your network hub via wi-fi (an Ethernet connection is standard).

CONNECT UP WITH A FULL HOME CINEMA SYSTEM

The Humax HDR-1000S comes with a wide range of connections, making it ideal to connect up to a full home cinema system. In addition to the HDMI, SCART and Ethernet connections, the box comes with both optical and RCA phono audio outputs. This lets you connect up pretty much any hi-fi or home cinema system for high definition sound to match the picture.

Now with 'free time' flexibility, subscription-free, dish TV has never been so tempting.

* ITV Player is available in England, Wales and The Channel Islands.

Rated 4.8 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exactly as stated. The purchasing process was easy and delivery was so simple and exactly on time. The set up was very simple with easy to follow on- screen instructions. So far it does everything we wanted. 26 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This is an excellent product I changed from Sky to Freesat, and I think that the Humax box is better than the Sky Digibox. Freetime is really good and compares favourably with Sky's EPG, and I've had no problems with recordings. I connected to BBC iPlayer with no problem, and have used the catch-up service several times. Connecting with ITV Player is rather slow, with the screen going blank for several seconds, but I don't know whether this is a Humax problem or an ITV problem. All in all I'm very impressed. 25 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Freesat box Great value, and works great. Easy to set up and use. 21 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Upgrade from Foxsat HDR This was purchased to replace a Foxsat HDR which was going flaky after 5 years of use. Very easy to install and set up - just plugged it into the TV and Amp using HDMI, connected the sat dish twin feeds and the ethernet and the rest was automatic bar entering my postcode. Immediately liked the upgraded TV guide and found it completely intuitive to set recordings. The HDR1000 has a great quality to both sound and video - but it is a shame that isn't replicated in the materials used to make the unit, which feels and looks very cheap, especially in comparison to the 'solid and robust' feel of the older unit. I could forgive that in the box itself, since that only has to sit under the TV and rarely get's touched, but the remote is another thing. When will manufacturers realise that the remote is what you touch every day and should look and feel like a premium product? 01 March 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Good box ... if you have good eyesight. Read all the reviews and chose the Humax as everyone recommended it for ease of use and quality. Very simple to set up and use. Only gripe is the onscreen display and menus have very small text compared to SKY so I have to constantly get my glasses to read them. Im now left wondering if id bought a cheaper product it may have been better for the text size. Although this is no problem if you have good eyesight its a pain for me so a bit disappointed really. Also didn't get quite as many channels as id thought with Freesat. I had assumed id get at least same as freeview but im afraid not so make sure you check ... like I should have done ! 01 March 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great FreeSat box - so far, so good! I haven't used my box much yet but so far it seems to be just perfect. The set up was very straight forward and the instructions were clear too. It's also reasonably fast, I've experienced no speed/connection issues. I have to agree with other reviews however, the remote does feel a bit on the cheap side but I'm not overly fussed by this, it works and that's the main thing! The actual colour scheme is funky and quite modern looking and layout of the programmes is good too, I'm still trying to get my head round as to how I record etc but only because I haven't tried this yet. All in all, im impressed so far. Richer Sounds delivery was spot on and the price was actually the lowest around (I had checked about 5 different websites). One other plus about this is that it's a Which? best buy which means it's one of the most favoured, tried, tested and recommended FreeSat box's on the market. Winner in my eyes! :-D 19 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Humax Free Sat Box I've only had the Humax box less than a week but initial impressions are very good. Very easy to install and within 10 minutes of taking it out of the box I was watching TV. Good quality picture and easy to follow TV guide and home menu. The fact that can connect to the internet is a nice feature for catch up and You Tube. Yet to use the record function so cannot comment on that yet. 18 February 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very impressive product. After a great deal of time reading various mixed reviews on this product I decided to take the plunge and part with my hard earned money. My next task was to search for the best overall package eg reputable company, product, availability, price and warranty. This whittled my choice of companies down to 2 [JL] and Richer Sounds, and thanks to their very reasonable cost 5 year warranty and their helpful product knowledge I decided to make my purchase with Richer Sounds. The unit arrived within 3 working days. I found the set up to be quite straight forward and its performance first class. 17 February 2014
