Better performance than expected, and easier to use that I had thoughtThis PVR replaced a Humax box that was over 8 years old when it finally gave up. I expected to replace it with another Humax, but the Panasonic offers the Amazon App, and as I am an Amazon Prime user, it was an attractive option, because of the additional content.
Wiring up the TV to the internet is a no-no for my partner ('cos of cables) so Wi-Fi was a feature I was looking for. There was no problem linking to my Wi-Fi, and set up was easy. I even got the remote to work my Samsung TV, so that's a plus.
I'm really enjoying the HD content and access to Net based content.

This product has a few redeaming featuresI only wanted this machine as a basic TV recording device. I was told it would record two programmes while watching a third, but, as far as I can figure out, it wont work on 3 things at once, only 2. Also the huge overlap times at the beginning and end of programmes means that to record two consecutive programmes on two different channels caused the machine to think that, in the middle, it is recording four things at the same time which it really cannot cope with. It is also impossible to record even one channel (for two consecutive programmes) and watch another without getting jerked out of what you are watching during the overlap time when the machine thinks its trying to do three things at once. Having access to catch up TV is good, but appart from that I was better off with my ancient Humax.

Meets all expectationsI wanted a product that would give me more channels than my current service provider was delivering. The Panasonic Free View Play box has met all of my expectations and more. I can now record the films I was missing and unable to access via catch-up. Brilliant, I would highly recommend.

Freeview+ and Panasonic Viera - so easy!Only day 2 but the 4K TV is getting 4K upscaled images form this digital recorder and running everything from one remote (viera) through the Denon AV receiver. Had to change the remote select on the blue ray. WiFi and networking is working now too! Had to read the manual for the latter and experiment.

Excellent ProductI bought this to replace our aging Humax 9150.
The picture quality is excellent and and the catchup & netflix features work perfectly, and you can cast directly to it.
One minor criticism is the guide, you have no ability to keyword search to set up future recordings, the guide is sluggish to browse.
Overall it works well so long as you can work around the clumsy guide.

good but with reservationwe bought this Panasonic to replace the Humax that died on us after three years. The picture is excellent so is the sound But the guide and the menue are very slow to appear on screen. we can't get the subtitles to show when catching up with a program while being recorded. It also refuse to repeat recording a program in evening as a series if this program was set to record at a different time in morning. Also we cannot fast scan the electronic guide and have to go through the whole week day by day and hour by hour. A pain in the neck compared to the Humax set-up which we miss.

Solid on the basics. Good for Panasonic owners. Nicely configurable.Replaced the "world's thinnest PVR", an Echostar HDT-610. Half an A4 pad size that had a fast/better EPG. In all other areas though, the Panasonic's far ahead.Clarity and colour rendition of HD channels is hugely better. The BBC Nature production yard-sticks showing well on our aged 46" Panasonic plasma. Playback is similarly perky.Day-to-day the EPG is slow-footed. Features that should be intuitive like 24-hour jump, aren't. Once found, setting recordings is easy. No free-form search though. An Echostar ace.Panasonic 'Smart' features at last start working. Netflix and Amazon access mean the PS3 now rests up for Blu-Ray duties only. Both apps stream faultlessly from WiFi. If only Eurosport and Pana would kiss and make up to restore the app back to the store...DLNA actually works. Amazing. 2 other Pana's at home stream recordings no fuss.'Media Center' iOS app sort of works. Deliberately de-featured to stop out-of-home streaming. At least you can set a recording when you're out.

Great features and easy to useThis was a replacement for an older Panasonic HD and DVD recorder. It is light, compact, simple to set up and with an easy to use interface. Service from Richer Sounds was excellent, as usual.
