Record Freeview HD TV, subscription free, with the TVonics DTR-Z500HD.

RECORD FREEVIEW TV ON THE 500GB HARD DRIVE

With a built-in hard drive, the TVonics DTRZ500HD gives you the ability to record your favourite TV programmes without the need for any blank media. The drive gives enough capacity for around 100 hours of HD recording (over 200 in SD) or up to 500 programmes.

TWIN FREEVIEW HD TUNERS BUILT-IN

Freeview HD TV offers a huge improvement over standard TV, giving you more intense detail and realism. Up to five HD channels are currently available and they're all free, meaning that no subscription is required. With twin Freeview tuners built-in you can watch one channel whilst recording another. Or, as an alternative, record two different channels at the same time. Freeview HD + also means that you can pause and rewind live TV - just like you can with subscription TV boxes.

FULLY CONNECTED

You can choose to link up the DTR-Z500HD to your TV by either SCART or HDMI. In addition to this, there are also two HDMI inputs, allowing you to use the PVR as a junction box for your other sources, too. An optical digital output lets you improve upon your TV's sound quality by plugging into a suitable home cinema or soundbar system. Finally, twin USB ports allow you to plug in a media player.

COMPACT AND STYLISH

Despite packing so much in, the TVonics DTR-Z500HD is very neat and compact. Its small size makes it easy to place and ideal for TVs that you may have in other rooms around the house. The black gloss, aluminium casing features rounded edges for a smooth, unobtrusive style.

For a fully functioned digital TV recorder with Freeview HD +, the TVonics DTR-500HD is a top value choice.

Rated 4.3 out of 5áby 12 reviewers.
Rated 3 out of 5áby Needs improvement ! Bought this box as a back-up for my Panasonic.Good picture and connectivity, easy to set up and operate. However . . . . . . . . . . . The remote is slow, lags and takes time when scrolling through the tv guide and menus,Takes ages to connect to BBC iplayer and when you exit the box freezes and there's no picture unless you unplug the box and plug in again. The box was a returned item and when I opened it at home the supplied HDMI cable and batteries wasn't there.Cost me ú10 to buy one from Argos. 30 January 2014
Rated 5 out of 5áby Ease of use Very easy to use record and retune alot better than my other 2 I have had in the past. 23 October 2013
Rated 1 out of 5áby UTTER RUBBISH Ihad two of these in the space of a month the second was a replacement for the first. The first one lasted 3 weeks, the second lasted for three days. I cannot believe i am that unlucky so i have to think these boxes are really not as good as the reviews would have you believe. My advice donot bother with this model, but good luck if you do. The only good thing i can say is the after sales service at Richer Sounds is second to none. 21 October 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great price, excellent quality This product replaces an earlier model whose hard drive died following a power cut. The new model offers simultaneous channel recording and better resolution than even my recently purchased TV. The menu system is very good and easy to navigate. There is also the option to automatically record an entire series when you decide to record something you're already watching, which is very helpful. The only gripe, and I believe this is related to the HD resolution tuner, is that it takes a few annoying seconds for programmes to appear whenever you switch channel. Happens on my tv too. Small footprint, excellent picture and usability, plenty of drive space and very cheap compared to brands such as Sony and Humax. I'm happy. 03 October 2013
Rated 4 out of 5áby Good features for great value This is a compact unit which produces superb pictures and has additional features useful for linking in other products such as a DVD player via an HDMI cable to minimise cables going to the TV.. Minor gripes: The miniscule led's on the unit make it very difficult for my mother in law to tell if the unit is powered on or off (They want to turn everything off at night!) The remote is also a little fiddly for an older person as some of the main feature buttons are very small - it would have been better to have the remote from the TVOnics SD model which is akin to the SKY version that works very well. Overall though a very good unit. 28 September 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby Very good value for the price. I can find no fault with the product and it does everything it promises. 02 August 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great DTR The TVONICS DTR-Z500HD is a major upgrade to replace my currrent 250GB non HD system. So far (3 days in) it is proving to be to be a fantastic successor to the previous model. 28 July 2013
Rated 5 out of 5áby Great HD Picture I have only had this Tvonics box for a week so cannot comment on it's longevity. I will comment on the sharp image quality, particularly HD, and it's ease of use. I have only used this box to record a few programs which have been great, you can plug in a DVD or games console which outputs HDMI to your TV, great if you are short of HDMI sockets on your TV. Overall a great little box for the price and you don't have to pay per month for the (four) HD channels. Remember to NOT switch on the 'talking guide' option during setup, a great feature for the partially sighted but otherwise irritating, 03 July 2013
