The KEF iQ5SE speakers build on the remarkable performance of the multiple award-winning reputation of the original KEF iQ5.
KEF have changed the internal design of the cabinet to utilise the full volume, allowing both the KEF UniQ driver and the dedicated bass unit to deliver a much improved bass response. Another change has been to the internal cross-over unit. The cross-over point between the midrange and high frequency has been lowered making for a smoother, more cohesive sound.
Other elements of the KEF iQ5SE remain as before - and are none-the-worse for it! KEF's unique Uni-Q treble system is still in play. Essentially, this involves positioning the treble unit within the throat of the woofer, thus creating a single point source for sound across the frequency spectrum. The end result of this is a broader, more cohesive sound that once experienced makes it hard to go back to conventional speakers. Uni-Q isn't the only technology that makes these such fantastic KEF loud speakers, though. Titanium coated, aluminium tweeters provide crystalline precision, with a smooth, even response. At the other end of the scale, the long-throw bass woofer provides a rich, well integrated bass that's pleasingly free from "boom".
As you'd expect from this leading speaker brand, the iQ5SE is immaculately finished. It also features everything you'd expect in a quality speaker, including shrouded and bi-wirable speaker cable terminals, magnetic shielding and floor spikes.
For a compact floorstanding speaker with great finesse, the KEF iQ5SE is one thoroughly refined sounding option.
