The Wharfedale Diamond 10.3 takes the baton from the award-winning Diamond 10.1 and sprints ahead of its floorstanding competition.
The latest 10.3 benefits from a wide range of enhancements to both cabinet and drive units that have been made to the entire Diamond 10 range.
The cabinet maintains the flared sides of the previous 9.4 but is now stronger and more rigid due to improved construction methods and internal bracing. At the front, there is a new composite baffle with a piano gloss black finish. Taken as a whole, the new cabinet promotes a more accurate sound with a cleaner, tighter bass response.
The revised Kevlar bass unit is more securely fitted via an oversized flange that's held in place by six screws. The bass surround has also been improved to help reduce standing waves and blend the mid-range seamlessly with the treble. The tweeter unit has a revised surround that also seeks to offer a smoother response.
Twin rear ports improve the bass efficiency and help the 10.3 speakers to sound punchy yet still refined and transparent at lower frequencies. A change from the previous 9.4 means that these ports are mounted at the rear rather than the front, for cleaner styling and greater wall reinforcement. Rounding off this impressive speaker you'll find bi-wirable binding posts that have been offset to allow the use of thicker speaker cables.
If you love the sound of the Wharfedale 10.1 speakers but want more bass weight and scale, then the Diamond 10.3 is the perfect floorstander for you.
