Rated 1 out of 5 by callisto1275 You hum it, I'll play it.
My hubby bought me the radio as a present. It looks good, PURE have a good reputation so what's not to like I thought. Sadly I'm so disappointed with the sound quality. The low background hum ( seems to be a common fault with this radio??) is very annoying especially when listening at low volume at night. I've only had one other DAB radio and have no problems with that.
As has been said the back light on the display is too bright and I too have had to prop a book in front of it to block out the glare. I can live with this, it's the annoying low hum that really irritates me. Its like a kettle boiling in the room next door or rain drumming on the roof.

So far so good, pity the FM did not do auto-store, too soon to say more

Bought on the strength of the reviews, but very disappointing.
Can't fault the Richer experience; always top-notch and accommodating service but the radio is a big let down.
Looks nice and stylish but has two major faults.
1) It's too bright. Yes, it has brightness settings from 1-5 but it has no dimmer switch / button and relies on an in-built sensor to detect light levels. This has been way too bright on a few occasions leading me to have to cover the display up in the middle of the night - defeating the purpose of a clock radio.
2) This is by far the biggest problem. The radio emits a very audible and annoying buzz on low - mid volume levels meaning in order to eradicate this, you need to play music / audio at quite high levels. If you're wanting to listen to some sedate music late at night, forget it as all you'll focus on is the perceivable 'buzz' - (unless you play 'Sound of Silence' ;) )
Googling will show this is not an uncommon problem. Wishing I'd researched more throughly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Mortyp Nice piece of equipment
A neat house radio with the added benefit of a dock for my ipod.
Reasonably loud and acceptable sound quality.
Bass and treble controls would make it even better.
Worked straight out of the box with no set up required.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Eddie Pure Chronos DockII, great unit with many features But!
The Pure Chronos DockII, great unit with many features and looks stylish But does have a couple of small issues.
Firstly the phone sometimes makes the speakers humm which is annoying when you are listening to your favorite radio station on DAB.
Secondly it feels too light. When you reach over to press the buttons on the front the unit moves away from you. This could be an issue on a bed side table.
But the unit is what you pay for, but in no way feels cheap and boxes way above its weight with the features it has.

I've been looking for a new alarm clock and decided to research a DAB / Ipod docking system.
The Chronos ticked all the boxes and gives me everything I was looking for at a good price

This is a great product for the bedroom, especially in that it lets you listen to your iPod before you go to bed and lets you wake up to it the following morning. The fact that it also features DAB Digital Radio is great, as you get to listen to a wider range of stations than would be the case on most Clock Radios. It's also the first Clock Radio that I have felt to be worth buying since buying a Sony Digicube 25 years ago, which is still working, but has now been replaced by the "Pure Chronos iDock Series II" to which I refer here. So for anyone out there who's struggling to replace an old Clock Radio, I would certainly recommend this one!

With an iPhone dock and dab radio and great sound quality. I would recommend this product to those who ask. It has 4 different alarms which gradually gets louder - no harsh wake up which makes me happy.
