FULL NETWORKING CAPABILITY

You can connect the Onkyo CRN755 to your home hub by Ethernet or optional wi-fi, using a UWF-1 USB dongle. Once connected, it opens up a massive range of music options. Tune in to Internet radio stations or music services such as the ever popular Spotify, vTuner and Last.fm. Between them these give you a massive music library that may mean you need never buy a disc again! Network connectivity also means the ability to stream music from other sources within the loop such as a laptop, PC or NAS drive.

Another option is the availability of a USB Bluetooth adaptor. This lets you wirelessly stream music from a huge range of devices, including Bluetooth compatible smartphones, tablets and laptops.

CLASS-LEADING CONNECTIVITY INCLUDING DIGITAL INPUT

In addition to the networking ability, the CRN755 comes with a wide range of connections. The newest and most impressive of these is a digital input. Designed to allow TVs, Smart TV boxes or other devices with an optical or coaxial digital output to run through the Onkyo, this feature adds greatly to the flexibility of the CRN755. As with previous Onkyo mini systems, the CRN755 also comes with a subwoofer output. Connect up your choice of active subwoofer and enjoy a powerful bass response, even when using compact speakers. The front panel houses a USB host that accepts iPod/iPhones or other flash memory devices. Finally, the CRN755 hasn't forgotten about older sources you may want to plug in. With three analogue inputs and a recording output, the CRN755 is a match for many full size hi-fi separates.

QUALITY TUNER AND CD PLAYER BUILT-IN

Finally, the CRN755 boasts a FM tuner and CD player. With 40 presets it's easy to keep track of your favourite stations. The CD player benefits from a high quality 192kHz/24-bit Wolfson DAC, sounding natural yet detailed.

PUTTING SOUND QUALITY FIRST

Compact and fully connected it may be but that doesn't stop the Onkyo CR-N755 from putting sound quality first. Onkyo have one of the best reputations within the audio industry and when you take a listen to the CRN755 it's not hard to see why. Using Onkyo's proven Wide Range Amplifier Technology (WRAT) gives the CRN755 a far punchier sound than you might expect. Added to this is Three-Stage Inverted Darlington Circuitry and VLSC noise-cancelling technology. Combined with symmetrical circuit layout and a high quality DAC, the CRN755 has class-leading sound quality. Not only is the sound dynamic and punchy it's also low in distortion and true to life.

For a better connected mini and the first to include Spotify, the Onkyo CRN755 blazes a trail for others to follow.

Rated 4 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4 out of 5 good but not a right up to date product Nice and compact, good enough sound (I'm not a sound engineer mind). I suppose this is a fairly old unit in terms of when it was released, no d.a.b no built in Wi-Fi. Added a dongle, bought on Amazon as Richer sounds no longer stocked them and am really pleased with the variety of internet radio stations available. I've had separates up till now and this is just about a fairly good compromise. In all quite happy with the unit. 09 August 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Hi-Fi enters the internet age My 25 year old Technics stack was in need of replacement and in the meantime I had converted my entire music collection into computer format. So the new kit had to have a way of playing files from the computer. I chose the Onkyo as it has a plethora of input formats including a network connection to my computer and ticked all the right boxes for me. The audio quality and power is sufficient for my needs (23watts per channel). A good all round box of tricks. If I had to quote some negative points they would be these: 1. The dot matrix display could have more lines for ease of navigation 2. A built in graphic equaliser would have been nice 3. A real-time clock display when the system is in standby mode. Apart from these relatively minor omissions the Onkyo is a good value micro system with decent sound quality and a very respectable price tag. And it gave me back lots of room my old separates stack took up. 15 February 2014
