Power is nothing without control, and that's never been better demonstrated than by the Dali Ikon SUB MK2!

HIGH QUALITY CABINET

Anyone can produce a subwoofer with a thumping bass but getting it to sound musical is harder. Much harder! To do this, a great deal of attention has to be paid to the construction of the cabinet and it's here where the Dali Ikon SUB MK2 excels. First off, the Ikon SUB MK2 uses a double layer front baffle. This holds the massive bass cone as rigidly as possible. The more rigid the front baffle, the less movement and, hence, distortion you hear. In addition to this, the entire subwoofer is elevated above a separate plinth. This isolates the cabinet from the floor, ensuring a tighter and more consistent bass response - whatever the surface it's placed on.

12 INCH WOOFER

Featuring a 12 inch, paper fibre woofer unit, the Dali Ikon SUB MK2 is capable of moving a great deal of air with high efficiency. Unlike heavy plastic-based cones, paper is extremely light yet rigid, ensuring that the Ikon is both quick to respond yet also subtle enough to provide a textured bass response.

250 WATTS OF PURE POWER

With its massive amplifier built-in, the Ikon Vokal 2 MK2 produces an awesome 250 watts. This low distortion amplifier provides the bass cone with a powerful, well-balanced sound that works well even in the largest of rooms. With such an amp and cone combination, the Ikon SUB MK2 doesn't just go low but it also sustains bass notes for longer.

IN CONTROL AND LOOKING FINE

Situated on the rear panel of the Ikon SUB MK2 you'll find controls for volume, phase and frequency cut-off. There's also the option of auto power for added ease of use. For a neat and stylish look, the Ikon SUB MK2 features a profiled front baffle and silver feet. Both help reduce the visual bulk of the subwoofer and help it stand out from the crowd of bland-looking subwoofers.

With immense power and the musicality to match, the Ikon SUB MK2 will leave you shaken and stirred!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great sub, you get what you pay for and this delivers Superb, very competent sub. It took me a little time to set up the crossovers to match my Cambridge audio aero front stage but that's the fun part anyway. All dialed in i tested the system on the most demanding blurays and digital audio sources flac, streamed mp3 etc (including the likes of Nero and Skrillex though to Pink Floyd) and the output was tight, precise and loud, yet still providing smooth deep lows. It sounds natural and clean even at high volumes with every track i threw at it. Additionally, throughout the tests the sub just got better and better as it started to run in. Beware this is a big unit and reassuringly heavy. The cabinet could be finished better for the price but that's my only negative (the unit still looks great, but lacks some aesthetic detail that you might expect for the money), but as they say 'its all about that bass'. 05 October 2014
