Rated 5 out of 5áby bikercambridge2 Not just for headbangers and movie enthusiasts
I listen almost exclusively to classical music and have, until now, thought that subwoofers were for metal-heads and home theatre fanatics. Wrong. Since adding the Yamaha to my (pretty good) system, I'm hearing things in recordings that I've not heard before: the warmth of plucked strings, the resonance of timpani, the lower growl of the bottom octave of a grand piano and, of course, the room-shaking throb of large open-reed pipes from cathedral organs. The best bit of all is being able to adjust the output of the subwoofer independently of the other speakers, to get things just right. Build quality appears to be excellent and the small size is truly remarkable, given the sound that comes out!

Needed a powered sub woofer to beef up the sound from some small speakers in a large room. Does a great job.

This replaced my more powerful old one and as far as I am concerned it's better, it looks better too.

Rated 5 out of 5áby Ezzee Great sound from such a small speaker , ideal for my kitchen .
Made a difference to my marantz mini when used in conjunction with my mission and Mordaunt Short M10 speakers , no good having a quality system without the speakers to match , top class

Rated 5 out of 5áby Peteflat6 Superb and the price
I have a quality set up already which I used in the previous house which had floorboards and I felt I never needed a subwoofer. The current house has tiled floors and something was missing! This unit has returned the depth and richness to my system and I am only using it at half volume, so there is plenty left to perform in a different setup. A superb unit at a very reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5áby LESTAT197666 Sorry neighbours
Combined this with the YAS 105 sound bar as I wanted a bit more kick while watching films,
This didn't disappoint, it's chunky feeling and very solid but yet will fit on a shelf or anywhere the 5m cable will allow.
When connected to the yas 105 I set the system to about mid way, the sound bar remote works in tandem so the louder the sound bar the more pronounced the bass is to match
You do need to tweak it occasionally to keep things balanced depending on content used.
The bass is very smooth and you will really notice a difference if you turn it off.
For the price I can't see anything close to spec and performance.
if you are limited on space or just want a nice sub to compliment your existing system buy this.

Have come across better Subwoofers but this is fine if you don't want to spend a fortune

Rated 5 out of 5áby Steveproto Wow - What a difference
First I must say that I didn't listen to any Subs before I brought this one and so my review isn't based on this model in comparison with anything else, its just my ears hearing the difference between my existing setup (Yamah Amp, B&W fronts and Cambridge Audio centre) and the addition of he Yamaha YSTFSW050 (what a great name!)
However, Im a musician, a caring amateur sound engineer and a lover of films with exploding helicopters so I have a sense of what things could and shoud sound like.
The size of the Yamaha rebasser (much better name I think) means it fits under our coffee table/tv stand and is the same size as my av amp. My amp has that great setup mic so all I had to do was plug it in, turn it half the way up and run the mac/audio setup.
The sub fits perfectly in my setup. Both physically and audio-ly It has presence but doesn't dominate. The sound space is much larger but unless you turn it up to 11 it sits under everything else like a comfy sofa.
