"As complete a package as you're likely to see for under £1000, these are special." What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision magazine.

As What Hi-Fi found, the Tannoy Revolution DC6T speakers are pretty special and more than worthy of their 5-star review. It's the attention to detail that sets these speakers apart and this begins with the cabinet design. With a slim footprint, the DC6T not only takes up less room than rivals but also images as well as many smaller speakers - often a downside with larger speakers. The cabinet itself also features extensive internal bracing for improved rigidity, helping improve the realism of sound still further. For added stability, a base plinth is also supplied.

Making use of Tannoy's famous Dual Concentric drive units, the DC6T sounds exceptionally open and spacious. By placing the tweeter within the throat of the main woofer, the DC6T gives a single point source for critical high and mid-range frequencies. The result is a consistency and realism of vocals that you'd be hard pushed to find from many rivals. The tweeter itself is a titanium dome unit that gives exceptional detail without sounding brash or harsh. The woofers use conventional pulp paper with long throw surrounds for effortless power. With a secondary woofer, the DC6T is also quite capable as a home cinema or high power stereo speaker.

Getting back to that attention to detail and it's the bits you can't see that make this speaker really special. Silver-plated cable and chromed cable connections offer a long-lasting and low resistance connection, right up to the drive units. The crossover features low loss, laminated inductors and audiophile grade polypropylene capacitors. This quality of componentry would usually be reserved for much more expensive speakers and helps give the Tannoy's their open and transparent sound.

Finished in a smart 'Espresso' veneer, that contrasts well with the silver drive units, the DC6T's look every bit as smart and refined as their musical presentation.

For a sub-£1000 speaker, you'll struggle to do better!

Speaker Enclosure TypeType of speaker enclosure. Infinite baffle cabinets are sealed and so are often less fussy about placement. Usually they do require a little more power to drive, though. Bass reflex speakers are usually more efficient than infinite baffle designs but may require more care in terms of placement. Rear port designs, in particular, usually need at least 15-30cm (6 - 12 inches) between them and the wall behind, for a balanced bass response. Rated 5 out of 5†by Amazing Sound and Looks. What an absolute bargain for £300. Just starting to run them in properly and the sound is amazing. They have breathed new life into my music collection. It's like hearing all my albums for the first time all over again. They are a massive step up over my old Tannoy speakers. I haven't stopped smiling since I plugged them into my amplifier. 12 April 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by Superb speakers Bought these to replace old, but worthy speakers. Very impressed right out of the box, and they have improved as I have run them in. Superb sound, really highlights the sort of music I enjoy, such as Hendrix, Joe Bonamassa, Led Zeppelin. I am not musically trained, so am not able to express their sound in particularly technical terms, they just sound so much more detailed. Adequate power when linked to an Audiolab 8000 via an Arcam power amp. As an added bonus, they look superb whilst quite slimline. I am completely satisfied with these, especially at the price I purchased them. 27 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by tempted by tannoy! Bought these last month to replace my Mission 751's in rosewood. still breaking them in , powered by Cyrus 3 and psx , bi-amped with a q-power and feed by a Quattro. The sound can get a little strident, putting it down to them being new still. Be careful where they sit as it effects bass and image a lot.And lastly enjoy , they look great and sound sexy! 25 March 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by Incredible sound and classy looks Ordered from Richer Sounds yesterday and here by lunchtime today. I've just bi-wired them to my Yamaha AS500 and I am blown away by how good these speakers sound. Vocals sound smooth and and the image is very involving. I can hear clarity in the music I've never noticed before with my old Kefs. Bass response is great but not overpowering and they clearly perform better with a little toe-in. All round for £350 these are incredible speakers. Buy some! 27 February 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by Amazing for the money Just bought from RS in Leeds. Great staff and a great demo. I listened for 10 minutes and was hooked. Only £300 for these is a steal as proven when I got home. They are replacing my old Castle Howard Mk2 Loudspeakers and driven by an Arcam AVR350, Bi amped and they are just wonderful. I am sure more expensive models have more clarity, timing and bass output but 300 QUID.... You are giving them away. 09 October 2014
Rated 3 out of 5 Underwhelming performance Got the speakers with the matching centre, as part of a new AV system and also got the Pioneer VSX 924 AV receiver. I am disappointed in the overall performance. I don't know if it is the speakers or the amp. Sound is just plain. Doesn't sound as good as the old system they replaced. 09 October 2014
Rated 5 out of 5†by Superb speakers My 3rd pair of Tannoy speakers. Not properly run in yet but already sound stunning partnered to my valve amp. Superb build quality & looks. 12 September 2014
