"As complete a package as you're likely to see for under £1000, these are special." What Hi-Fi Sound and Vision magazine.

As What Hi-Fi found, the Tannoy Revolution DC6T speakers are pretty special and more than worthy of their 5-star review. It's the attention to detail that sets these speakers apart and this begins with the cabinet design. With a slim footprint, the DC6T not only takes up less room than rivals but also images as well as many smaller speakers - often a downside with larger speakers. The cabinet itself also features extensive internal bracing for improved rigidity, helping improve the realism of sound still further. For added stability, a base plinth is also supplied.

Making use of Tannoy's famous Dual Concentric drive units, the DC6T sounds exceptionally open and spacious. By placing the tweeter within the throat of the main woofer, the DC6T gives a single point source for critical high and mid-range frequencies. The result is a consistency and realism of vocals that you'd be hard pushed to find from many rivals. The tweeter itself is a titanium dome unit that gives exceptional detail without sounding brash or harsh. The woofers use conventional pulp paper with long throw surrounds for effortless power. With a secondary woofer, the DC6T is also quite capable as a home cinema or high power stereo speaker.

Getting back to that attention to detail and it's the bits you can't see that make this speaker really special. Silver-plated cable and chromed cable connections offer a long-lasting and low resistance connection, right up to the drive units. The crossover features low loss, laminated inductors and audiophile grade polypropylene capacitors. This quality of componentry would usually be reserved for much more expensive speakers and helps give the Tannoy's their open and transparent sound.

Finished in a smart 'Espresso' veneer, that contrasts well with the silver drive units, the DC6T's look every bit as smart and refined as their musical presentation.

For a sub-£1000 speaker, you'll struggle to do better!

Speaker Enclosure TypeType of speaker enclosure. Infinite baffle cabinets are sealed and so are often less fussy about placement. Usually they do require a little more power to drive, though. Bass reflex speakers are usually more efficient than infinite baffle designs but may require more care in terms of placement. Rear port designs, in particular, usually need at least 15-30cm (6 - 12 inches) between them and the wall behind, for a balanced bass response. Rated 4.9 out of 5†by 28 reviewers.
Rated 5 out of 5†by Sound quality over power Got these speakers after 15 years of listening to JBL LX70. Although the low end is a little bit less powerful, the sound quality is incomparable. These are the first speakers I can listen to on the Pure Audio mode on my Onkyo TX-NR609. I am extremely happy with them. 29 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by This product sounds great These speakers sound crystal clear, they look smart, they are sturdy. My only issue is the grills which occasionally fall off when knocked, other than that, great speakers fantastic value, highly recomended. My system also consists of a pair of mercury v1's these two pairs of speakers, create a nice clear sound and a fuller frequency range. 25 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by Just buy them! I had a pair of the Monitor Audio BX2's running through a valve amp, the sound was great but the bass was lacking, I decided to try these out and have been blown away by the sound, I didn't think I would be able to better the BX2's without paying a fair bit more but boy was I wrong. Don't forget these won an award for best floor stander in the £700-£1500 category! 20 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by Brilliant Speakers - Fantastic Price Purchasing these speakers for just under £250 has been a complete bargain. I was previously looking at standmount speakers, but after visiting a store I was convinced floorstanding speakers would provide me with that extra power and low range. They have not disappointed. I was initially very impressed with the speakers but even more so after purchasing a DragonFly v1.2. They have truly lit up and are fully capable of providing a rich, detailed sound. Very happy customer! 16 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by Great deal for the money These are very good sounding speakers - I have owned many pairs of speakers over the years, I think these are the best so far. Straight out of the box I was taken by the quality of the mid and top. Voices are reproduced superbly, as are all acoustic instruments. But they do rock and electronica too! I am using these with Arcam products and a Theta DAC for the CDs. The balance is very good, with the bass perhaps a little too much for the size of my living room on some tracks. The speakers are nicely made and finished, and they look much nicer 'in the flesh' than they do in pictures. Well done Tannoy - a real bargain at Richer Sounds pricing too. 05 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by Tannoy DCT6 £249 for these floorstanders is daylight robbery in my opinion. Powerful, excellent sound quality, good looking speaker.. What more can one ask for. I travelled 60 miles to get mine as they were sold out locally but so glad I made the effort! 05 June 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by Great sound and value for money. Great sound and value for money. Only difference I'd make to the design would be for them to be in black rather than chocolate brown. 10 May 2015
Rated 5 out of 5†by WOW. The price, the sound quality, what more could you ask for? Been monitoring the price of these for a while, they've been fluctuating between £250 and £350. When I saw they dipped back down I pounced and luckily the Bristol store had a single pair left in stock. I've now run them for approximately 40 hours at a relatively low level to bed them in, the quality compared to the Missions I had before is night and day. I've got them powered by a NAD C320 which isn't the most powerful of amps but they sound great and plenty loud when needed. I agree with other comments, you'd be mad if you didn't but at this price. 09 May 2015
