With its powerful bass response and subtle design, the Wharfedale PowerCube SPC-10 has little trouble in living up to its name!
Powerful sound thanks to long-throw woofer
Rather than using a bass-reflex design, the Wharfedale PowerCube SPC-10 uses an infinite baffle, or sealed cabinet design. Although not as efficient, it does give a tighter and better controlled bass. The efficiency is compensated by a powerful amplifier and the long-throw 10" woofer. This ensures the SPC-10 can shift a large volume of air and so produce a deep and powerful bass.
Class D amplification
One of the ways the PowerCube can justify using a sealed cabinet is by using a powerful, efficient Class D amplifier. With a power rating of 215W, peaking at an immense 450W, the built-in amplifier offers cast-iron control of the bass, whatever the volume.
At the top of the cabinet a sensor detects movement to illuminate the controls. This means the controls are easy to find when you need, but not distracting when you don't. Phase inversion, volume and cut-off controls give total control over the sound, while power on/off saves power when not in use. Stereo or mono RCA phono and stereo speaker inputs give plenty of connection options, and as it's a sealed cabinet you can place it up against walls or furniture.
For tight and tuneful bass from an attractive and versatile subwoofer, the Wharfedale PowerCube SPC-10 is a top contender.
