Following the huge success of the award-winning Azur 640T, Cambridge Audio has done what many thought impossible and produced a new, improved, Azur 640T V2 model.
Crucial to the latest model is an upgraded Digital to Analogue Converter (DAC). The Azur 640T V2 incorporates the high performance Wolfson WM8740 24-bit/192 kHz DAC, ensuring the best possible results. This is the same model as fitted to the Azur 640C CD player, and gives both objective and subjective improvements in the tuner's sound quality. Signal to Noise and distortion figures have improved whilst, subjectively, you'll find the sound quality a good deal more natural and dynamic than before.
The state-of-the-art 640T V2 also features Natural Contour Technology (NCT), developed by Cambridge Audio to counter the sometimes 'flat' presentation of compressed digital sources (such as some low bit-rate DAB radio stations). Two settings are offered: 'Warm', which adds analogue-like warmth to 'digital' sounding programmes and 'Lively', which breathes life into the sound quality of heavily compressed programmes. Better still is that this unique system is now operational via the remote control and not just the rear of the case.
As before the spec' is as generous as they come. Full remote control, multi-room integration, and both optical and coaxial digital outputs are included. The damped, vibration resistant, Azur casing is also one of the best in the business. With its aluminium front panel and fluted sides it not only looks great, but allows the electronics to work to the best of their ability.
Like the previous Azur 640T, the V2 will also receive FM transmissions. It's not just an afterthought, either. The FM section has been designed from scratch and offers an impressive performance in its own right.
If you're serious about radio, then you'll find the Azur 640TV2 meets all your expectations - and then some! |
