With an unsurpassed reputation within the AV industry, Onkyo have done the seemingly impossible and improve upon the already industry-leading standards of the TXSR875. The new TXNR905 is even more powerful and features an exciting network capability.

With its Network LAN connection the Onkyo TXNR905 opens up a world of possibilities. Using Windows Media Connect, this Onkyo home cinema receiver will stream MP3, WMA or WAV files directly from your computer. Furthermore, the network system also allows you to tune into Internet radio stations (provided you have the necessary Broadband link and router).

As before, the key to the TXNR905's AV prowess is the inclusion of a raft of HD processors. DTS-HD Master Audio, DTS-HD Resolution Audio, Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus decoding are all supplied. Accessing these impressive decoders is the industry HD standard connection of HDMI. In the v.1.3a form as we have here, both High Definition video and audio can be inputted to and exited from the receiver. In short, the HDMI switching is fully compatible with HDTV. Another benefit brought about by the fitment of HDMI is the built-in HDMI Upscaling and Upconversion. Even if your DVD player or other HDMI-equipped source doesn't have an upscaling system, it's now possible to enjoy all your HDMI equipped video sources in full 1080p quality. Furthermore, all component signals from 480i upwards can also be upscaled by a powerful HQV REON VX video processor - meaning even greater high definition potential from your sources.

Equally as impressive as the processing side of this Onkyo home cinema, is the power house amplification. With a high current power supply fed by a massive power transformer, the TX-NR905 is now capable of delivering a highly impressive 220 watts per channel into a 6 Ohm load. Quality circuitry, including Burr Brown 192/24 audio DACs for every channel makes the TXNR905 a top performing AV receiver with all types of audio, including simple 2-channel stereo. As a measure of its excellence, the TXNR905 comes complete with the revered THX Ultra2 Certification - in effect this is a mark of quality assurance from the Lucas studios of Star Wars fame.
