Includes free Pioneer stand and speakers worth £300.
The most impressive 50" plasma TV of all time? We think the Pioneer PDPSX5080 may well have a claim to that title. Without resorting to (projector) TVs costing many thousands of pounds, the PDPSX5080 offers a level of engineering excellence and picture quality like no other.
Pioneer's aim was to develop a plasma TV that set new standards in picture quality and, with the PSPSX5080, they've certainly succeeded. Years of research and development has culminated in a raft of technologies collectively known as Kuro. In Japanese Kuro means black and the relevance of this can be seen immediately. Quite simply, the PDPSX5080 produces deeper blacks than any other flat screen TV on the market. If the amazing contrast ratio of 16,000:1 doesn't speak for itself, then the images will do. Pictures are so intense that the sense of realism and depth of image reaches a new dimension. In terms of colour reproduction, depth, contrast and many other factors the PDPSX5080 is simply unrivalled.
Of course, being a Pioneer, the PDP-SX5080 is pretty impressive in other respects, too. The integrated speakers may not match up to a separate home cinema system, but they do offer excellent clarity and dynamic range for TV speakers. The horizontal positioning also makes for a smoother, less bulky appearance - and what an appearance! The sleek, glossy frame of the PDP-SX5080 has been much imitated but never bettered. Combined with clean, classically proportioned lines, the PDPSX5080 is certain to age gracefully and look just as good in many years time as it does today.
As though unrivalled picture quality, decent sound and stunning good looks weren't enough, the PDPSX5080 also offers a built-in digital, Freeview, tuner and ample connection sockets. No fewer than 3 HDMI sockets are available, with a trio of SCART sockets to match. Then, of course, there's also a component, S-Video, and PC input. Combine this with the optical digital and RCA audio outputs, and it's clear that the PDP-SX5080 wants for nothing.
Short of building a cinema in your house, the Pioneer PDPSX5080 is the closest thing to "being" there. Prepare to be impressed!
To get the best from your plasma, we strongly suggest you professionally install your new purchase. All stores can recommend a local installer who should be able to help. Apart from the fact that our margins are minuscule, and we therefore can't afford to offer an at home service, sales assistants are neither trained, qualified nor insured to do installations. Having said that, we are happy to give advice in-store or over the phone where possible. For more info please contact your local store.
