With 3D TV, amazing network connectivity and a picture quality to match, the Sony KDL40EX723 could be all the TV you ever need.

Once you've experienced 3D TV, ordinary TV just never seems quite the same. Images aren't just projected forward but appear to occupy the space behind the screen, too. This gives images an amazing depth that has never been possible with 2D TV. In order to work to its full advantage, 3D needs a quality screen and that's exactly what the KDL40EX723 has. Featuring Edge LED technology, the KDL40EX723 benefits from huge improvements in contrast and brightness over a standard LCD TV. This Sony LED TV set gives 'reach in' depth, rich colours and, thanks to Motionflow XR200, smooth motion. This high quality Motionflow system works especially well with fast moving action, such as sports events, without the blur you can see with standard 50Hz TVs. From a Hollywood blockbuster to a Formula One race, XR200 makes a significant difference. A further picture enhancement is the new X-Reality picture engine. This is designed to improve detail and reduce noise and is especially effective with Standard Definition TV.

Although no match for a separates home cinema system, the Sony KDL40EX723's sound system has been tuned to match the 3D images. S-Force Front Surround 3D gives an impression of an added dimension to the sound with projection to match the 3D pictures. The S-Master 20 watt amplifier ensures it can fill a large room with sound, too. To get the best out of the TV, though, there're also both digital (optical) and analogue (3.5mm) audio outputs, for connection to your hi-fi or home cinema

Using the latest Freeview HD TV tuner, the KDL40EX723 can truly make the most of its HD Ready screen. With HD TV, clarity and detail are greatly improved with sport and natural history programmes both benefiting hugely. In terms of web and media compatibility, the KDL40EX723 currently leads its class. Probably of most interest is the comprehensive networking ability. In addition to an application based browser for the most well known sites such as YouTube, the KDL40EX723 also comes with Opera web browser for full Internet access (display of embedded video not supported). In addition to this, this Sony 3D TV is also DLNA compliant meaning that you can stream data from your laptop, PC or NAS drive device. Even better, streaming from your home network hub can be via Ethernet cable or optional Wi-Fi connection. On top of all this, just add a voice control camera and microphone and the KDL40EX723 is ready for Skype calls. Thanks to various smartphone apps for iPhone or Android, you can take control of the Sony with your phone's comprehensive touch screen. If this comprehensive multi-media compatibility wasn't enough, the KDL40EX723 also comes with twin, two-way USB sockets. Attach a hard drive to one of these and you can use it for recording programmes. Other connections include four HDMI sockets, SCART, component and PC inputs - enough for pretty much any system. Add other features such as a Presence Sensor that detects whether or not you're in the room and then shuts down the TV, TV Soundtrack auto-search and twin on-screen images showing both live TV and online content and you begin to get a flavour of just how impressive this 3DTV is.

3D or 2D, off air or online. Whichever way you watch it, the Sony KDL40EX723 is one mightily impressive TV.
