Hi and welcome to the Richer Sounds Cambridge web-page!
We're a riendly bunch of characters who will do our utmost to meet your needs as best we can. For those of you looking at hi-fi we are now one of the companies elite "Premium Hi-Fi & AV Centres". Come and visit our lovely demo room and have a listen to some of the Roksan and Marantz gear we have on demo. Not forgetting our roots, we also have our traditional wide selection Hi-Fi and AV separates and also a new interactive display area for iPod docks. Why not bring along an iPod and see what it can do through a decent dock. For all you students out there we also have some mega deals on hi-fi separates and small TVs. Speaking of TVs we have a great selection on display so give us a buzz and I’m sure we’ll have something you’ll want.
Great so you want to come and see us… but, where’s the shop and where do you park?
Our shop is on the town centre end of Hills Road (A1307), approximately half way between the junction with Regent Street were the large church is and the war memorial where the turning for the railway station is. As you face towards the town centre we are on the left hand side opposite One Stop and Dominos. For more details see the map above or give us a call.
Parking’s a nightmare right? Actually it’s pretty easy, there is a small side road called Russell Street that runs alongside our shop that has metered spaces on it. Again the next side road towards the station, Norwich Street also has metered spaces. They cost 50p for half an hour, however parking is FREE there after 5pm during the week, and there are no parking charges on Sundays or Bank Holidays. If you do have to pay to park, give us your pay and display ticket when you’re done and we’ll gladly refund the charge. We can also help you carry any large items to and from these locations!
His job is to "make it so" and ensures the slick and well oiled nature of the store continues, with no chafing. He is a hi-fi geek and has been known to bang on for hours about vintage Norwegian hi-fi. He likes ROCK particularly on vinyl and of a 70's nature. Some say that his ears are so finely tuned he winces whenever he hears speakers running on door bell wire as far away as France. Others say that once he put a 50" Plasma screen into a Nissan Micra. All we know is that he's called Tom, and lives somewhere near Biggleswade.
Deputy manager Stewart is famous for misquoting well-known phrases - "nice and pie" for instance. An avid gamer, he spends a lot of his free time killing zombies and generally fighting evil on his PS3 projector combo. Through his previous employment in the bar industry he also seems to know most of the population of Cambridge, so if you're reading this you probably already know who he is and we don't need to write any more!
It has been proven that Owen is too cool for school, both in his dress and musical tastes. He is an avid fan of the post-whatever soundscapes scene (that's basically music with lots of glitches in) and is known to start spontaneously start throwing shapes whenever Mt. Kimbie tracks are played. Popular for his collection of trilby hats, he can be found wherever the cool kids are hanging out. Knowledgeable and helpful, he will do his best for you.
Outside of work Dave has been mistaken for a rock star several times owing to his flamboyant dress sense, silver trilby and feather boa anyone? He is our resident Mighty Boosh impersonator and is well Facebook. Outside of work and when not dressing in an outrageous manner, he enjoys BMX. He also lives in a very retro house that until recently still had a black and white telly. Always eager to help, Dave is guaranteed to meet your needs.
Well-spoken Rob is a bit of an audio nerd - he makes bass cabinets in his spare time and loves all manner of things, like Star Gate and other such geek stuff. As well as listening to music he enjoys playing it and is a keen bassist. He is very knowledgeable about the technical side of what we sell and if you would like things explained through the medium of diagrams he is the man to ask. He is also unfeasibly tall and regularly bumps his head on low-flying aircraft, earning him the nickname "chopsticks".
Truly a scholar and a gentleman, Conor is very well travelled and having seen the world he is resident in the beautiful city that is Cambridge. Fluent in other European languages through his travelling and living abroad he is very cosmopolitan gentleman. An Indie kid, he enjoys the Libertines and the other British greats that make up the genre.
