Powerful output, with 4-step gain control
Featuring a new, 4-step gain control with an ultra-high output of up to 15Vrms, the KANN MAX has the power to drive almost any headphones. Where current-hungry headphones would previously have demanded a dedicated headphone amp, the KANN MAX has the grunt to drive them solo. These means that you can now enjoy audiophile sound quality on the move, without the need for a separate headphone amp. Low/Mid/High output levels are also available, giving you the ideal match for your headphones.

Wide range of headphone outputs
As well as delivering the power to drive your headphones, the KANN MAX also has the connectivity. For balanced headphones, the KANN MAX has a top quality, 4.4mm, 5-pole balanced output. Alongside the 2.5mm, 4-pole balanced output, this gives wide-ranging compatibility with both headphones and headphone amps. Using a balanced signal between the source and headphones reduces noise and interference and is especially handy on the move. A standard 3.5mm unbalanced socket is also standard.

Quad DACs for improved depth and detail
The KANN MAX is Astell & Kern’s first KANN player with Quad DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertor). Quad DACs help give the player increased control over the individual channels, reducing distortion and getting closer to the original recording.

Supports Native DSD512, 32 bit/768kHz files

The result of tens of thousands of hours of research and featuring A&K’s patented technologies, the Teraton Alpha Ultimate Sound Solution circuit is at the heart of this player. By using highly efficient power management with effective power noise removal it helps produce the lowest levels of distortion while maintaining a powerful, dynamic sound.

MQA playback
Compatible with Meridian's MQA (Master Quality Authenticated) technology, the KANN MAX offers the choice of using this ingenious system to save on storage space. Although studio master quality, the beauty of MQA is that files are small enough to easily stream and they don't take up so much space – giving the best of both worlds.

Install the music apps you want
Using the Open APP service, you can install the music apps you want on the player. These include favourites such as Spotify, Deezer, Amazon Prime Music and TuneIn Internet radio.

Powerful Bluetooth 5.0 with support for aptX HD and LDAC
For the best connection with your wireless headphones or Bluetooth speaker, the KANN MAX uses Bluetooth V5.0. Compatible with aptX HD, LDAC, A2DP and AVRCP codecs, this Hi-Res portable ensures you get a high-resolution signal to your headphones to match.

BT sink for wireless music transfer
With the BT sink function, you can wirelessly stream music to the KANN MAX, similar to the way the player streams to your wireless headphones or Bluetooth speaker. Simply pair with your music device, such as a smartphone, tablet or laptop and stream the music across – wirelessly.

Store it all - 64GB internal memory with support for a massive 1TB
With 64GB of internal memory, the KANN MAX holds up to around 625 tracks (24bit/96kHz, 4 minute-long, 90MB) songs on its flash memory. With the addition of a 1TB microSD card, the capacity increases to enough for a lifetime’s collection of music.
