”This is the most affordable amp Audiolab has produced in recent years, and also one of its most capable, confident and competitive efforts.”– ‘What Hi-Fi’ – 5 Star review. Tested at £599

The flexible amp – for all your sources

With four digital and three line level analogue inputs, the 6000A is equipped to handle even the largest systems. Added to this there’s also an input for you turntable plus wireless Bluetooth connectivity – taking the input total to nine sources. Pre out/power in connections enhance future upgrading potential. Prefer to listen in private? Then take advantage of the dedicated, high quality headphone output.

Plug in your TV and games console
Featuring a top quality ESS SABRE32 DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) at its heart, the 6000A is perfect for getting the best sound from your digital sources. Twin optical and coaxial input let you hook up your TV, CD, Blu-ray/DVD and games console. Once connected, you not only benefit from the Audiolab’s award-winning amp tech but also the reference quality digital electronics – giving amazing clarity and detail.

Bluetooth your smartphone
For quick and easy connectivity with your smartphone, simply use the Bluetooth link. Ideal for smartphones, tablets and laptops with Bluetooth, this wireless connection gives easy access to music stored on your phone and music streaming services, such as Spotify, Tidal and Deezer.

And not forgetting your turntable
With all its digital connections, the 6000A still hasn’t forgotten about your analogue sources. As well as three line level inputs, there’s also a handy turntable input for decks with a MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge. The high quality, low noise phono pre-amp delivers a full-bodied balance that does justice to the warmth and depth of vinyl sound.

Award-winning Audiolab sound
Using a substantial power supply, the 6000A has plenty of grunt. The Class AB amp produces 50 watts per channel, giving effortless, room-filling sound. The pre-amp section of the amp uses independent, low noise power supplies at critical stages – reducing distortion and increasing the detail. Like all Audiolab amplifiers, the 6000A ‘tells it like it is’ and gives possibly the most lifelike sound of any amp in its class.

Excellent sound for your headphones
Incorporating a dedicated headphone amp with current-feedback circuitry, the 6000A makes the ideal driver for your headphones. Dynamic and detailed sounding, the 6000A’s headphone amp is a big step-up on most amps. It also offers ample power, so it drives even the most current-hungry ‘phones.

Don’t leave any of your music out – listen to it all, with the Audiolab 6000A.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Everything I have come to expect from Richersounds The staff at Richer Sounds are great: patient and clear with their advice without being pushy. They will let you buy anything but they do try hard to help you get the best for what you want from a system at the price range you have in mind. The amplifier is perfect for me. I wanted to use it with the matching CD transport and they work together perfectly. The only downside is that it exposed my speakers and now I want to upgrade them. The Bluetooth and Phono inputs are a great asset.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing sound! Punch bass, great detail Great piece of kit! Made my system sing! You know when you listen to music you’re not really into but it sounds impressive so you end up down a rabbit hole. The DAC is impressive. You’d think this was double the cost. Looks classy too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sounds great and superb service This was a much needed replacement for my old amp. Ordered on line and arrived within two days. Really pleased with the amp, the sound and the service

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great integrated amp I bought one of these in March 2020 under the first lockdown (why not right?) to replace an ageing Rotel amp. No regrets - packs a punch and is well balanced across various genres of music. Went on to add the Audiolab 6000CDT (Black) CD Transport which paired with the amp is brilliant. Like the fact you can have an MM turntable hooked up to this so my Technics SL1210 MKII is also in play. Fun, fun, fun....!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super piece of kit works well sounds great I purchased this because I realised my existing amp was the weak link in my set up. Pioneer PL300X vintage d/d turntable and Quad speakers. Now the entire system is nicely balanced and sounding superb both on vinyl and CD via the AudioLab 6000CDT

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound and great value I recently upgrade to the Audiolab from an Arcam Alpha75R. The difference is extraordinary and I can hear instruments that just weren’t there before! As I now mainly stream, the digital inputs are a real improvement whilst the phono stage is a distinct improvement. All in all delighted with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great, sounds great. Recently purchased this and it sounds like a much more expensive amplifier. Great bass, good punchy sound and the instrument placement top notch. Highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent, spacious sound, remote works a treat I bought this to replace my ailing Pioneer A333, itself an excellent amp but with one channel gone it was time for a change. After researching the market and discarding the outlandishly expensive amps I decided on this model and am not disappointed. It does all I want and will probably see me out- though not yet, I hope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Another Stunning Audiolab Amplifier Bought over the phone at to replace my 8000A. Super fast delivery, ordered Friday arrived Saturday. Top notch customer service from Josh at Exeter as always. Now to the amp itself. Beautifully neutral tuning, huge open soundstage through the analogue from my M2scd. Digs out huge amounts of detail, its like opening the curtains on your music collection. Wonderfully deep tight and extended bass, sweet mid rang and sparkling treble detail. Fabulously versatile, digital outputs, Bluetooth and very good phono stage to boot. Vinyl from my P1 sounds better than I have ever heard now, through my Dali Oberon 5's (separate review). At £599, you will be hard pushed to find anything as good and versatile short of £1K . If you wan a top british amplifier, look no further. Thank you RS as always.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound and easy to use! I bought this Amp recently and it's definitely enhanced my HiFi system. I love classical music and found it especially good for that. It's also great for World Music and voice. It's sleek looking and easy to use too. Very pleased I got it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Clarity and Balance Having owned an Audiolab 8000A from new since purchasing in the 80s I was looking for a replacement. The reviews of this amplifier were generally very positive and the fairly neutral and balanced sound mentioned in various reviews have proved to be accurate in my opinion. There is also a clarity to the sound that was missing from my 8000A and I am hearing things on record (Project Debut Carbon) and CD (Audiolab 6000CDT) that I haven't heard before. My loudspeakers are Fyne Audio F301. I was concerned about the lack of tone controls but so far I haven't found this to be a problem. If I find this is necessary in the future it is a simple matter to add an external EQ device using the switching function that is built into the amp which allows the pre and power amp sections to be split with input/output connections at the rear of the amp. The connectivity of the amplifier, which includes Bluetooth, is very flexible. I run my TV through one of the digital inputs. The remote is useful although one oddity is that irrespective of whether CD or A are selected the on/off function will switch both the amp and CDT on or off at the same time. Not necessarily a problem if using the CDT as the sound source but if using the phono input, or using the amp for TV sound, it is best to manually use the on/off button on the amp rather than use the remote. The other minor niggle is that you can't rename the inputs on the display to reflect what is connected.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Laid back sound. Great amp great advice from staff at Liverpool store works well with my bW 606s the sound is laid back so it's a good pairing as 606s are quick and punchy overall well pleas

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slim design that doesn't compress the sound. 4 day's in with this beauty and I am really pleased with my purchase a little help over the phone from Justin at the Liverpool store with a good offer on the price for my customer loyalty and a 14 day return policy to exchange for a different product if not happy. I had recently bought a new pair of B & W 606s to go with my amp which after a couple of months started to give me problems due to age so I decided to buy a new amp not a simple task these day's I took quite a long time to make my mind up decided on the 6000a as it came no quirky features just bluetooth plus 4 digital connections and remote control plus analogs. I've not purchased cds for a long time but I've found some bargains online, I have a sony sacd mod number cdp - xb920e which sounds great. The 6000a is rather laid back its quite smooth so pairs well with my speakers as they are very punchy and forward the 6000a is very clean sounding with good bass but not heavy bass so does not over power a small to medium room looks classy as well I now need a turntable as mine is on its last legs. I am well pleased with this purchase and I do recommend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a great piece of kit 100% happy I bought this to add to my Home Theatre as a power amp so I can listen to my music but share the same front speakers from my 7.1 set-up. This amp is perfect for driving my Dali Zensor 3's via Node2i streamer. Makes a massive sound difference compared to going via the Home Theatre (Denon X3700) which itself sounds great but the Audiolab amp takes music to another level. Great service as always from Richer Sounds.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Amplifier Very pleased with the Audiolab 6000A & Richer Sounds rapid standard delivery. Chosen to replace my ageing failing unit & needing both vinyl & digital inputs the 6000A, though Audiolabs' entry level amp, is proving much better than entry level hi-fi & punches well above its price level. Sound is slightly lean with agile bass, smooth frequency balance, excellent clarity & a fine sense of rhythm. Power output at nominal 50W into 8ohms is moderate & though maybe lacking for large rooms is more than sufficient in my modest listening room typical of the space in 80's housing. Sensible sound levels for rock music being achieved at ca. -30dB with my baby Quad standmounts which, with low sensitivity & low impedance, aren't the easiest speakers to drive. The ability to stream from my phone is also an added bonus.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent service I bought the Audiolab 6000A recently along with a pair of Dali Oberon speakers, after a lot of help and advice from Sam at the Southampton store. I’m very pleased with this Amp and the speakers, which have been my first foray into this type of equipment. 10 out of 10 for service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A revelation. Having upgraded deck and speakers, I thought my old Cambridge amp was good enough, but when it started having problems, I had to get rid of it. I was thinking of spending over £1,000, but the Azure 851 was too big to fit the space. Just as well. I came across the Audiolab and all the glowing reviews and for half the price. I now have audio quality that I have never known before. My CDs sound better than my vinyl used to and my vinyl collection sounds amazing. Can't think of a better way of getting through lock-down than revisiting all those classic albums and hearing them as they should be heard.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Only 24hrs in however first impressions are stunning. Sounds amazing, really easy to set up. I'm using an optical cable, gives great sound for my music apps from my tv and phone. Would be good to have a specific remote rather than a generic Audiolab one, lots of buttons don't apply to 6000a. Make sure you buy on phone to get the free gift, I bought online and missed out. A really great product. Delivered in 24 hrs for under £7, good value.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great amplifier and quick service I had a 20 year old amp so was looking for a good all round model that had blue tooth. I'm extremely happy with it and it means I can play Spotify from my phone through the hi-fi. Great sound.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A very good product and great value for money Have had this kit with me now for about a week. A very different sound to that from the early Linn Classik that died on me for Christmas.... Great detail, balance and shape to the sound and soundstage. Perhaps just a little dry, so needs 'warmer' speakers. But a very well made and high quality amplifier for the price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant amplifier Ordered Sunday night and arrived Tuesday afternoon, first audiolab product for me,I absolutely love it and it’s simplistic look and features.paired with MA silver 200s it sounds absolutely fantastic, bought for streaming and I certainly made a great choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent product I bought this recently, to replace an ageing Audiolab 8000A. I have lived with the Audiolab sound (through KEF speakers) for more years than I care to remember, and have been very pleased with the experience. The new 6000A is an improvement in sound (crisper) and ergonomics (not least the remote control!). Set-up was easy (although the menu system needs a bit of thought - not least the need to double-click on the menu key on the remote, which isn't mentioned in the guide).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Music Listening Rebirth Replacing my damaged Monitor Audio RS speakers accidentally brought about purchasing Audiolab 6000A Amp. Having decided on the now discontinued Dali Opticon 6 speakers, I decided to pit my perfectly working Marantz PM7001 amplifier against the Audiolab 6000 A and the sound test at Richer Sounds Southgate was markedly in favour of the Audiolab. It seemed stupid not to buy and there would always be the WANTING to upgrade to the Audiolab 6000A if I did not take the plunge. The Bluetooth feature has been a revelation for me as my home listening is mainly vinyl on my Linn Axis turntable. Playing music from my FiiO X3 MP3 Player via Bluetooth really rivals the LIVE vinyl sound and surely makes this Integrated Amplifier worth every penny. With hindsight I also welcome the inability to bi-wire speakers which I wasn’t sure is demonstrable in the home (You cannot bi-wire on the Audiolab 6000A). Add to this the Remote Control and you surely understand why this Amp is a very good buy. On the whole, I am re enjoying a re birth of music listening brought on by this Integrated Amplifier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Probably the best amp in its price range I'd been thinking of upgrading to an Audiolab 6000A for a while and when my trusty old Cambridge Audio A4 developed a fault recently I went for it. I chose on the basis of features - I wanted a phono stage built in and also digital inputs for a CD player and possibly something else in future. The Bluetooth input was also useful for playing stuff I've not managed to buy in a physical format but is on my phone - and it works flawlessly. I can't really comment on the sound quality apart from it being noticeably better than what it replaced. The build quality is very impressive - you can tell there are some serious heat sinks inside. I read loads of reviews and one mentioned the "steps" on the volume control weren't fine enough compared to a purely analogue pot - however I've found it to absolutely fine and totally useable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lovely sound and useful features I bought this to replace my much loved but ailing 8000s, used for over 20 years. It impossible to do a proper comparison now but I’m just as happy with the sound from the 6000a. It also has a number of useful extra features over the old amp, a good quality onboard DAC not the least, and integrates perfectly with my recently acquired 6000CDT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value for money After some research on amps and speakers I visited a local Richer Sounds branch for a demo. I was really excited with the sound particularly when paired with the Audiolab 6000CDT transport so I decided to buy it. After a week or so of constantly using it at home now I can say I am very happy with my purchase. This amp bring out sounds from my records and CDs that I hadn't noticed before. It produces a balanced soundstage with clear and deep bass. Feature-wise I have what I want, even bluetooth is very decent for casual listening. Totally recommended!
Date published: 2020-12-10
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A worthy replacement for my beloved Technics I had to wait for a month before the amp was available but when it arrived (with no heads up from the store rather surprisingly) it was very easy to set up - even with a graphic equaliser in the mix. Not as powerful as my sadly defunct SU-V707 but the addition of Bluetooth (and a remote) made it a very welcome alternative. Great sound from my turntable but I have to admit to struggling to tell the difference between the three DAC filters!
Date published: 2020-11-24
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A clean and perfect bass This amplifier was bought to replace an ageing Technics amplifier bought in the early 1980s. I was guided to this amplifier by key requirements: • The height of the amplifier could be no more than 130mm. • I wanted a Bluetooth connection to play my MP3 music. • I wanted an optical-digital input to play sound from my TV. In fact there isn’t a lot of choice when limited by these parameters, but the Audiolab machine is a very slim design, which fits the first requirement perfectly. It also has a wide range of input options including bluetooth. I was able to book an appointment at the local Richer Sounds where they allowed me to listen to and ‘play’ with the said amplifier, including connect my phone and play MP3 as well as vinyl. The amplifier fits all my requirements and more (it has lots of inputs, including two optical digital). I have played vinyl, TV, CDs and MP3 and all sound superb. I have yet to play around with the variations for handling the MP3 music as I am happy with the default setting. The most noticeable difference from my old Technics amp is the quality and richness of the bass (probably due to the increased power available to drive the speakers), but the high-end of the sound spectrum is also very clean. If you can afford this amplifier I would recommend it and don’t worry about the separate preamplifier output, if you don’t need it then the device is an excellent integrated stereo amplifier.
