Using solid cores for a sweet and pure sound, the Audioquest Evergreen brings a sense of refinement to any system.
Solid-core conductors
For many years Audioquest has advocated solid-core rather than multi-strand cables. Electrical and magnetic interaction between strands in conventional cables can cause distortion, giving the sound an unnatural edge. The new PSC cable takes this one stage further by offering an astonishingly smooth and pure surface. By using a proprietary metal-processing technology, the cable is exceptionally pure and, therefore becomes a wonderfully low distortion conductor.
Air-filed foamed polyethylene insulation
Wire insulation can cause an imperfect signal by absorbing energy and then releasing it as distortion. The Evergreen uses air-filled foamed-polyethylene, as air absorbs next to no energy, polyethylene is low-loss, and has a benign distortion profile. The result is a cleaner signal. And whereas most competing cables use a single path for both ground and shield, the Evergreen uses a double-balanced design that separates the two for even less background noise.
Cold-welded, gold-plated plugs
By using a high-pressure weld rather than solder, there's less chance of a faulty connection between cable and plug. This gives a more reliable long-term connection, and ensures low resistance for a low distortion connection for the entire life of the cable.
With such dedicated engineering, it's little wonder the Golden Gate is such an impressive cable.
