Great features, good sound and good value
Bought this a week ago, so this isn't a long-term review. First impressions on opening the box are good: the headphones nestle nicely inside a zipped-up hard case, there's a USB charging cable and a phono cable to use the headphones wired up (in case the battery runs low or for plugging into an aircraft's audio system). These are over-ear types, meaning they "enclose" the ears rather than sitting on them. These Beyers feel nicely constructed - strong without being too heavy. The earcups swivel so that they can be turned inwards to make a more compact form for carrying in a bag/rucksack, though of course they can be stored in that hard case for extra protection. The headband is adjustable and padded, as is the case with most headphones. When worn, the pressure over the ears is about right, which should mean they could be worn for extended periods. There is enough "play" in the headband to accommodate most sizes of head.
Sound quality is of course a highly subjective issue. My musical tastes cover most genres but NOT heavy rock, reggae or rap. Therefore these Beyers aren't going to be for those needing a thumping bass response. Having said that, I would prefer a bit more bass than these Beyers provide. There is a smartphone app called Wavelet which is a graphic equaliser that helps to pump up the bass a bit, but even that isn't to a lvel where I'm totally happy. There is another app, BEYERDYNAMIC MIY, which performs a test on your hearing and conditions the sound accordingly. Can't say that I noticed a fantastic difference. In terms of the mid/treble response, these Beyers provide oodles of lovely detail and that alone is making me stick with these headphones. There is Active Noise Cancelling too, but I haven't tested that feature as yet. Overall, I'm pleased with the construction, sound, aesthetics and value. I might add that the Sales assistants at Richer Sounds are very good. I've never felt like they try to get a sale at any cost.

I don't think these are beatable for the price
I received an email from VIP club with a good deal on these headphones. I checked out some online reviews before buying which all seemed positive based on comparisons with Sony/Bose/Sennheiser costing significantly more. Given my age and related gradual hearing loss there was nothing to be gained by spending more and indeed, when I tried these Beyerdynamics out on receiving them I was REALLY impressed. For me they have a great sound, ANC works well enough for me and using them for phone calls is very clear, both ways. Make sure to update the firmware to get some useful additional features such as EQ function and sidetone level adjustment so you can hear your own voice during phone calls and use the MIY app to set them up.

.... but i like them. Bought them for the wireless capabilities and they perform well and fullfill the need. I have a pair of oldish wired Bose Quietcomforts and whilst those are better, they are 3 times the price. These are good and are good value at the discounted price, not sure I would have paid the RRP for them. They perform well but then I am no expert and time will tell on their durability. Also, who knows how many times the battery can be charged, I cannot see any way to change the battery and if the battery is flat you have to charge it, cannot pop in some disposable batteries.
