Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely delighted (so far!) Only received and set-up the TV on Friday last, but absolutely delighted so far. The enhanced picture and sound quality, over our previous Samsung HD, is staggering. We've yet to get to grips with all the technology and possibilities. Special thanks to Richer Sounds for an effective ordering/delivery process; and customer support during installation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great TV at a good price I was concerned by some of the reviews I've seen for this product but, apart from a couple of minor niggles with the user interface, this is just what I was after. Picture quality is great.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A worrying decision slowly becoming a good one. First then, here is the back-story. My beautiful 15-year-old Panasonic Plasma 100Hz 42" Viera TV, a TV that has served me perfectly coloured, judder-free images from HD to older faire like Deep Space Nine finally began showing signs of image retention. I had my mother's identical TV, bought at the same time, stored upstairs, which I inherited after she passed away. It was only ever used in the evenings and was a perfect choice to replace mine. But the government in allowing the greedy energy companies to basically raise energy prices unfettered added another side to the decision. My Plasma used 290w, this new Samsung QLED just 65w (I'm not interested in 4K or gaming but if I was when viewing any of these the figure would be 130w). At my per unit charge this meant that over the course of a year, viewing at 6 hours a day, my old TV would use around £240 whilst the Samsung would use just £54. The difference would pay for my house insurance and my MOT. Or all my boiler insurance, or my car annual service and MOT. In reality, being unable to walk far I can have the TV on from 10am to Midnight, so the saving is, at least in my case, a lot more. So it was that I telephoned my local Richer Sounds in Cardiff. After a very lengthy and informative conversation which ended with the promise that should I not want it for any reason, I could return it within 28 days. I bought this 50" model (with a free 6 year warranty), and so the fun began. Once connected to the mains and turned on it found my network and would not connect. The wi-fi signal was strong, my phone and Mini-PC were both connected and working. I turned the PC off and the TV still wouldn't connect. Tried unplugging the router, plugged it back in and waited for it to initialise fully, still no....three more attempts and it suddenly connected and so I set up the TV, I already had a Samsung account but I believe you will be required to create one if you haven't. Over the evening I tried watching various things from Netflix and Disney+, self-converted episodes of Deep Space Nine made from my own DVD's, and files played from my Mini-PC. What I initially saw was not at all inspiring. On Netflix, In an episode of DS9 called 'The Search Part 1', Sisco (a close up) is in the Defiant, powered down with no lights apart from the red, red alert light bar flashing slowly on and off, this TV had absolutely no idea whatsoever on how to deal with this. Where his face faded into the background detail of the inside of the ship was worse than awful. It was grainy, then smooth, it looked like bits of his skin were moving independently from others, when the red light highlighted him all definition disappeared. I tried this from my Mini PC through the TV, it was fine (assumption is that the TV literally acts like a monitor and simply relays the picture from VLC on the PC as-is). I also tried it by playing the file from the portable HDD directly into the TV, it was pretty good there too which puzzled me. All sources, Netflix, Disney, HDD had other juuddering issues as well as this inability to detail difficult areas. I phoned Richer Sounds and told them I would be returning the TV. That night though, I played around and I eventually improved things on the TV (source) by turning the picture to 'Adaptive', putting the 'Brightness to 20', turning 'Clarity' off, and putting 'Local Dimming' to standard. The picture was still sometimes too dark in dark scenes so eventually I found 2 settings that made it better (not perfect). In the picture menu I turned the the 'Contrast Enhancer' to high, and in the power and energy menu I turned on 'Brightness Optimization', which apparently saves energy too. I tried that DS9 episode again and it was better but not enough to be able to watch it. It was late by now so I gave up. It wasn't until the next morning, while trying to watch Stargate SG-1 conversions I had made from my Blu-ray disks that I began to make some progress. My nephew noticed, as did I, that these were also juddering on pans or fast movements, and for a 100Hz panel this should not happen. We looked through the menus and there, hidden in the General menu was one called 'Intelligent Mode', it was set to Auto, I turned it off and there was an immediate improvement in SG-1, the remaining perceptible judder was removed by turning the Adaptive Picture setting back to the 'Standard' one. I tried that DS9 episode that night, from Netflix, but this time it was as good as it was on my PC. Now I have a great picture, not brilliant, there is still a smoothness on faces sometimes when there are really subtle shades of light or dark. There are still times when it goes grainy when it really doesn't know what to do with the picture, like when Superman first flies in Man of Steel, but it's as good as it's going to get without a plasma TV. Genuine HD stuff from Netflix/Disney is really very good now, it's still a little too dark at times and raising the brightness does little to help. My Mini PC (source) seems to have it's own settings that the TV has chosen for it, picture is Dynamic but I have turned off all the enhancements that are actually hindrances that I was able to. It was my understanding that all these hindrances are turned on when a 4K HDR source is played. I tried it with the Kings Man from Disney+ it is true. But boy oh boy - the picture.....but it still had a little tiny judder sometimes and even seemed to lose focus (went soft) on wider shots. This does not worry me as I'm not interested in 4K anyway. But for normal viewing these so-called intelligent enhancements simply take processing power, which gives the TV more to do behind the scenes (and not very well at that), which affects the picture and the real-time display. Turn them all off. Settings can be saved either to 'All Sources' or to the 'Current Source'. I've yet to play a blu-ray disc, but on that source I will definitely begin by turning off all those things so the setup is the same as the TV source, and I will go from there. There is no manual with this TV, not a real one that you can hold and read through, not even one you can download online - there should be. There is one, but it's in the TV.... The sound of this TV took some getting used to (not used to it yet either). My friend or my neighbour do not like it, too hollow, too tinny and too much bass depending on what's playing. I turned the both bass sliders all the way down in the mixer, it made no difference. I am getting used to it but it's not very good. I'm not really qualified to comment as to the usability or quality of the menu system on this TV having never had a smart TV until now. It is ok, navigable but wrong buttons are pressed regularly at the moment. Another thing that is annoying is that you cannot turn this TV off. Standby is all there is, and the light to show you it's in standby is minute, very dim and set back 'under' the bottom-right 'Samsung' logo on the bezel. I've plugged it into a remote plug which I had spare so at night I turn that off thereby turning the TV off properly. All in all then, I like the picture I have now for 95% of the time, now all the 'intelligent' and 'enhancements' are turned off. Still too dark at times, deep shadows can go to the dark blue side, there is the softness that comes with LCD and the occasional noticeable judder (worse on Disney+). The sound is inconsistent but that is more to do with the source I think. But when it's right, it's really right picture-wise. I've decided to keep it, and this is a very big thing for me as I've always known that my older stuff looked very bad on LCD TVs. I've taken a thumb drive with various quality files to superstores and tried them in their TV's. The last time though was 3 years ago in a £2000 TV, my DVD rips of TNG and DS9 looked atrocious. In this, this QLED has improved dramatically, if it hadn't it would've gone back, running costs notwithstanding. I am 62 years of age, I like the older stuff. So my keeping this is a big deal and an indication that playback of these old series, at this time, on this TV is acceptable - now. But I will also keep my mother's Plasma. Basically if it's good enough for a very sceptical, fussy one like me, it should be fine for, shall we say, more well adjusted people. I just hope my views stay like this within those 28 days. As for Richer Sounds, any audio-visual equipment I ever buy comes from them, always has, I see no reason to change that.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bright and brilliant Got this as my parents TV stopped working after 10 good years. This is really impressive for the image quality. I have an Oled at home but this was perfect for my parents that sit and watch news all day and night. So choosing an Oled would not have been smart. But they are loving this TV the sound is good. Its been running and they have not complained once, this is from parents that complain from almost everything

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing TV I got this TV to pair with my new PS5 and I can safely say that I am not disappointed! Having two remotes is a nice feature, with the simplified version being my preference, but it’s nice to have the option! The sound quality is amazing, volume 10 is loud enough for me to hear the tv in the hall from my room. The TV is extremely bright and the settings are easy to navigate, and it the picture quality using the 120Hz port is sublime. It’s the little things such as having Alexa on your remote, or the ridiculously easy interface, or the multi view option!

He gave me several reasons why the Samsung tv would match my requirements, that being picture quality especially in my bright living room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect! After doing loads of research we decided that the Neo Qled TV was the one for us. We found one at a good price and had it delivered. It was easy to set up by following the on screen instructions. Once connected to our TV and streaming services and the soundbar we were ready to go. I love the special remote control which controls everything. This TV has the best picture I have ever seen and it can easily be fine tuned depending what you are watching. The smart features are easy to navigate and really helpful. We are absolutely delighted with our purchase.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from A clever TV that is often smart in the wrong ways Samsung nails it well with the picture and sound quality of this TV, but the TV's menus and behaviours are often frustrating. They are quite a letdown. One feature that I think is not mentioned enough in TV reviews is Samsung TV Plus, which is good quality streaming service covering news, sports, music, movies and entertainment. That works quite well, aside from the fact that sometimes when you press a button on the remote to activate it, is says "unavailable" so I have to access one of the Samsung TV Plus channels indirectly from the tv's home page menu. The TV is then suddenly aware that all the TV Plus channels are available. I am a software and IT professional that has used other brands but Samsung's price point was compelling so I gave Samsung a try. The design of the menu is well-intended but it's just frustrating. Firstly, the TV has a habit of showing options you have not asked for. For example, I have two surround sound AV receivers on my network - the TV displays them not only as sound sources, but additionally as devices which might have media such as music and video on them, it's an annoying duplication because the TV shows the same external device twice. Another major frustration is that the TV does not retain sound settings - after being set to send output to an AV receiver, it switches back to using the TV speaker when it is turned off. Whhhhyyyy? The lack of customisation is just bad - you get this sprawling menu of things you don't want to use and there are no options to remove them. The expert menus don't have the right options - for example, how about being able to always use a particular audio output for a particular source. The smart remote requires repeatedly pressing menus to get to the actual controls you want to use - you're better off having 5 remote controls just that just do exactly what you need with one press of a button. This is a TV with good ambitions, but it fails in its usability. I wanted to give it 3.5 stars, as it is better than average, but the frustrations prevent it from being good - hence 3 stars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Beyond brilliant The set up of this TV is simplicity in itself. Connection via Bluetooth is unbelievably fast. The picture is just so sharp. You don't, I believe, need a soundbar as the 8 speakers do their job exceptionaly well, the bass is astounding. From rock to blues to acoustic concerts the sound delivers it is as pure as very good hi-fi separates and their associated speakers. Apps work superbly well. There are a multitude of free Samsung channels included which really sell the Oled screen off to its utmost. The TV is subtle in my room and not overpowering to the eye. It's quite simply a fantastic deal for the money It's worth a lot more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bigger than I expected A nice thing about buying a tv online is that when it turns up and is MASSIVE it's a pleasant surprise. Aside from being big it also seems good. Menus intuitive. Contrast pleasing. Bright enough. Sound is fine at normal volumes, bit distorted when loud. Remote is snazzy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect TV - Love it and love Richer Sounds! Only had this TV for a week and I love the picture and sound. I ran it side by side with my 6 year old 4K 50" Samsung and if I looked closely I could tell the difference (although there wasn't a lot in it as that TV was great for it's age anyway). But this one is much more vivid and the blacks do look blacker and you don't get the banding on some scenes like you did with my older one. Very pleased with this TV! I'm now also able to use Atmos with my existing Sonos Arc, sub and surrounds set up. The audio now sounds clearer although I haven't noticed much difference from 5.1 to Atmos to be honest. I love the two remotes and one of them even charges by a small solar pannel. Great TV and I'm very pleased I went with Samsung again. It's very quick and responsive to load apps and content. Loved buying from Richer Sounds as they were able to price match with an additional discount and match the next day delivery of the other supplier. I phoned up and the guy I spoke to was really helpful and explained the additional cash back offer from Samsung which I will claim 30 days from purchase. If you are considering this TV go for it you won't regret it! Go on...you know you want to!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Standard tv not in HD is rubbish. HD picture is great but we watch a lot of SD tv channels and the quality on this tv is totally rubbish, pictures are all washed out and motion blur is horrible. My 5 year old LG tv that I paid £1000 for is better quality on standard tv that this one I’ve just paid £999 for. I thought Samsung Neo QLED were meant to be good I’m not impressed.
