”Partnered with a pair of speakers, the Cambridge Audio Evo 150 is a capable and talented all-in-one system – one of the most exhaustively featured, best looking and highly intuitive examples of its kind.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ – 5 Star review.

One system does it all

An evolution in sound and style, the Evo 150 is a compact powerhouse. With 150 watts per channel and a reference quality DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) built in, sound quality is of the first order. A comprehensive range of streaming options, via wi-fi, AirPlay and Bluetooth let you stream music your way. Topping this off, there’s a huge range of connections, including turntable, USB, HDMI ARC for TV and many more.

The power to impress
The flagship Evo 150 system is powered by a mighty 150 watt Hypex Ncore amp. Matched to an ESS Sabre ES9108K2M DAC this gives class-leading power and the dynamic punch to make music thrill. More than this, the top quality electronics let you hear every nuance of the sound, revealing new subtleties in the music that you might never have heard before.

StreamMagic
Based around Cambridge Audio’s award-winning StreamMagic platform, the Evo 150 delivers a seamless streaming experience. TIDAL Connect, Spotify Connect and Qobuz are built-in (premium account may be required for full functionality). StreamMagic works with Hi-res music files, including MQA-powered TIDAL Masters. The StreamMagic system also works alongside Roon, AirPlay 2 and Chromecast, letting you decide the system you want to stream music.

Two-way Bluetooth
Two-way Bluetooth lets you pair your smartphone, tablet, laptop or other device and stream in high quality aptX HD Bluetooth. It also lets you receive a Bluetooth signal back to your Bluetooth headphones – giving you a completely wireless listening experience.

Connect digital
A wide range of digital inputs lets you connect all you home entertainment. Use the HDMI ARC to plug in your TV and feed it with your games console, Blu-ray/DVD player and set-top TV box, all connected via the two optical and one coaxial digital inputs. There’s also an asynchronous USB input that’s perfect for connecting your computer and streaming Hi-res music files.

Connect analogue
A MM phono input makes this system standout for vinyl fans, plus there’s also an AUX input for another music source. If you want pure studio quality, then why not match up with a balanced output music source and use the XLR balanced inputs.

Connect more
The Evo 150 features a wide range of extra connections over the Evo 75 model. These include two pairs of speaker outputs, RS232/Trigger sockets for multi-room and XLR balanced inputs for a studio quality connection with a compatible source input.

A stylish evolution - choose your look
Everything about the Evo 150’s design demonstrates obsessive attention to detail. From the dual concentric volume/input selector to the large, 6.8 inch display, the Evo 150 is a joy to operate. The sleek, customisable finish means the system stands out from the crowd. Choose between wood or black corrugated side panels (both included) for the look you prefer.

Get all your music, from a powerful, single-box system, with the Cambridge Audio Evo 150.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cambridge Audio EVO 150 I purchased the EVO 150 two weeks ago and am extremely pleased with the quality and level of the sound that it produces. Setting up the EVO 150 was very simply and took only a few minutes to connect it to my internet, music server, speakers and streaming services Spotify and Qobuz. The soundstage and quality of the CD and Hi-Res audio produced from my music server and Qobuz is outstanding and a joy to listen to. The EVO 150 is so easy to control with the remote or using the StreamMagic app on my phone or tablet. I use the StreamMagic app to easily control all of my audio inputs including my music server and Qobuz. The album cover and track details shown on the large front display is brilliant and adds to enjoyment of listening to the music. Overall a remarkable all-in-one player that produces a tremendous listening experience. I would certainly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top quality amp and streamer Blown away by this. I've tried both the NAD M10 and Arcam SA30 but this is superior in almost every way. The streaming functionality and app is quality and works perfectly. Connectivity is excellent and it integrates into my home theatre system perfectly thanks to the HT Bypass option. Richer Sounds were also brilliant as usual

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Cambridge Evo150 and Monitor Platinum PL100 II I have had this set up for a month now and I can honestly say that the clarity and definition broadcast from this equipment combination is something that I had not experienced before. The speakers are nicely 'run in' now and provide astonishing clarity, the Evo comes with software that syncs perfectly with Qobuz and makes discovering new music very easy. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great advice and service I wanted objective advice about which Hifi “bits” to go for. I got sensible and customer-friendly suggestions at different price levels and then excellent service when I had decided. Very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome sound Bought this to pair with the kef ls50 metas which i was previously running with the Audiolab 6000a. The extra power really shows. Set up and connectivity all really easy and sound is immense. Hadn’t initially planned to spend as much on my Hifi system but now very glad I did. Highly recommended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cambridge audio evo 150 I went to the store in Exeter and Tim sat with me in the listening room for an hour trying different streamer /speaker combinations. I originally wanted a Naim Unity Atom and Focal speakers (based solely on reviews) But I found it to be harsh especially vocals and the higher levels. So I tried three different speakers and still didn't sound right to me. So I tried the Cambridge Evo 150 and the Dali Opticon 6 Mk2 speakers and just loved the sound. Tim was very patient and wasn't pushy at all. Very happy with my purchase and the service.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect Amazing: - sound quality and power - design esp. swappable panels - connectivity To make it perfect: please (please?!) add output configuration via software updates. It’s like all outputs were forgotten in terms of settings. Examples: - missing low pass filter setting for the sub output - missing variable/fixed analog pre out control - missing high pass filter setting for the connected speakers

Rated 5 out of 5 by from CA Evo 150 - yes, it's good. A few weeks ago that would probably be a 4 stars but I've got use to the fact that I have to use StreamMagic app on my phone to choose internet radios or music from my library. The sound is fantastic. Nice and clear. Maybe a little bit shy on low frequencies but this can be adjusted (in the app...). A great device that sounds and looks great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning piece of kit! Looks fab, and with the interchangeable panels fits stylishly into any interior. Beautiful clear sound. If you’ve not had a streamer before it’s simply amazing how you have millions of tracks at your finger tips. Simple to use and set up…way easier than you might imagine. Does it replace my CD player? Well, no. I have an Arcam FMJ CD player and there’s no doubt it’s has just that bit more presence, clarity, depth and solidity but the main thing is the streaming services, despite their size will be missing a few key albums from your collection, especially if you love classical music. Having said that I wouldn’t be without my streamer now for ease of use, access to so much music and great sound. And Richer sounds, particularly Joe at the Leeds branch was amazingly helpful. I’d have no hesitation whatsoever buying from them. Outstanding service!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great all in one Bought this kit a month ago after doing a huge amount of research and listening to a number of, cheaper, alternatives and the Cyrus Lyric. Coupled with Qubuz, the sound is quite simply astonishing. I am a bit of a nerd listening for every individual sound which provides me with the overall track satisfaction. The CA 150 delivers a brilliant experience subtly separating out the individual instruments. Would have been nice for RS to throw in 6 year warranty given the price of the kit. Overall delighted!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Set up and excellent sound Excited to report the the Evo 150 and Dali Rubicon 2 that I recently purchased are up and running. The Evo has such great connectivity and is revealing its capabilities with every listen , complemented wonderfully by the speakers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up and great sound I have had the unit for just under a week and have had no problems. The EVO 150 is easy to set up and the ‘Streammagic’App is easy to use. I previously had a separate DAC and power amplifier and the sound produced by the EVO 150 is every bit as good, if not better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, great connectivity Very happy with my purchase. As a listener with less than perfect hearing (and a hearing aid wearer) sound clarity and balance was my number one priority when I needed to update my entire music and tv system (without incorporating surround sound, which with my hearing I find unhelpful and somewhat overwhelming). Paired with some Dali Oberon speakers this magic box did not fail to deliver superb sound, not only for my music in whatever format I choose to stream, or input via other sources, but also for my tv and blu-ray player. It has, quite simply, revitalised my love of music and massively improved my tv listening experience! Superb piece of kit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pass on the obsession! To get the next generation hooked on hifi I believe this is the way to go! For many years I’ve dabbled with various setups and separates and whilst I’ve enjoyed them all I’ve always hoped an all in one product would come along that just works flawlessly without the headaches and what if’s that go along with system matching. I understand that separates may offer better results ultimately but you cannot take away just how brilliant the Evo 150 is and the feature set it provides. I was lucky enough to have a home trial of both the Evo 150 and Uniti Atom with both systems changing the way I feel about hifi. These are both cracking devices and I could easily have opted for either however personally I felt the Evo 150 offered more sonically with a huge wall of sound compared to the more focused Atom and offered incredible value for money over the Atom which in contrast had fewer features at a higher price point. The Atom sounds beautiful and offers a different flavour of sound and so I would definitely recommend trying both if you are in the market for this kind of device. One final point I’d like to make is the interaction my kids have made with the Evo since bringing it into my home has really opened my eyes. Maybe I can pass on some of my obsession I have for this great hobby to my kids who previously had zero interest in how any of it worked or more importantly sounded.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great features, lovely sound, easy to setup Great service from start to finish. Product is so easy to setup you think you have missed something. Lovely sound with the Wharfedale speakers I bought with it too. Like the fact that the manual is on line as it excess paperwork for very little use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous “British” sound I’ve been trying to recapture that impossible ideal of the way music sounded to my teenage ears in the 1970’s for years now. I bought a pair of Wharfedale Denton 85th Anniversary speakers and have never been happy with the way they sounded even through fairly decent Rotel, Onkyo and Sony amps. I thought I would take a last punt with an Evo75. Contacted the M’bro store who arranged for me to listen to an Evo150 as they had no 75’s in stock at the time. I loved the sound and got a very good deal on the demo 150 so took it home. Well after a few small probs with set up which were all of my making, and sorted really quickly between Sean of RS, and Cambridge I got to hear the Evo 150 go through it’s paces. I can only describe the sound now coming out of my Wharfedale as totally sublime and exactly how I remembered music should sound. It really is a match made in heaven. Tremendous customer service from RS and real quality sound from CA Evo150, especially playing CD’s from my Rotel CD player I’ve heard nuances in the reproduction that I never heard before. Thank you to RS in M’bro and Cambridge Audio, you have made an old man very happy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great streamer I bought this a month ago and really love it. I did some research and after weighing up my options I felt the evo75 was for me. I booked an appointment in Richer Sounds so I could find out more and listen. They were really helpful with info, only had the 150 to demo, but explained the differences between the models. as I also needed help in choosing speakers too. They went out of their way for me to try it out with different speakers. I decided the 150 was for me and it sounded great paired with Dali Overon 7’s. I’m am really happy with my purchase easy to set up with stream magic just waiting for the evo CD player to be released to complete the system for me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Hi-Fi all around device I wanted to upgrade my hi-fi system so I decided to visit RS London Bridge for a demo. The stuff there were extremely helpful and went over the top to satisfy my requests. The EVO 150 is the perfect Hi-Fi component. Great connectivity, easy to set up, regular firmware updates, quality materials, and a very user friendly app. Also, CA has an excellent customer service, quick replies and very helpful. The sound is very "precise" and natural. You won't get the classic CA signature sound but that's because of the class D. Personally, I prefer this kind of sound over others. You can really appreciate it when you listen to DSD tracks of classical and Jazz. One last thing, it has a much better turntable sound compared against direct competitors. I guess that's CA experience with the phonos.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing service and incredible product Simply... WOW! All round, wow, the item is just spectacular, great features, easy to use, easy to setup (just add speakers) and solves so many needs in one unit. Olivia at the Cambridge store was very helpful, having setup the demo suite for me to see the unit in full action. Olivia even swapped out the speakers for some bookshelf speakers as this is what I run at home. Top marks and five stars all round.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exquisite Hi-Fi performance from one box... I heard the Evo 150 in-store and thought it sounded pretty good, after some deliberation I took the plunge... I am SO glad I did. Every aspect of the Evo is as close to flawless as can be - it's intuitive to use (5 minutes to set up), is well built (like a brick), has every imaginable input (and output) and it sounds amazing. Even the phono stage is pretty darn good and didn't embarrass itself against a stand-alone unit. The Cambridge app has come a long way and never ever drops out of sync, Tidal and Spotify can be used directly from their own apps, NAS drive use is perfect (all artwork displayed and the tracks always appear in the correct order - not the case with all streamers!!) and if you use external hard drives the Evo will even recognise multiple drives connected via a 4-way splitter! The sound is very "Cambridge"... the dacs and amplification just get out of the way and play the music. It is reminiscent of what used to be called "transcription" (nothing added, nothing taken away). Bass is tight and low, mids and trebles are clear and realistic, at least partnered with a pair of B&W's 603s. If you use a high-quality streaming service and want to also connect an external CD player, TV, record player or just about anything else the Evo is exceptional value for money - it is, in my opinion, the best one-box option currently available for less than 4 grand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wife could not be happier Wanted a stereo amp to work along side my AV system. It had to be easy to use for streaming from any device which the EVO150 certainly is. It also needed to be an upgrade to the sound from my AV system. It certainly accomplishes both very well. The wife finds it easy to use and the sound is glorious. I spoke at length with the team from Richersounds about my needs. I had a few demos for other bits of kit, but this ticked all the boxes and is sounding better by the day. I matched it up with B & W anniversary floor standards and i cant stop smiling. I also cant stop playing music. if you are looking for an all in one, you should give it a demo. The staff could not be more helpful even when i was getting them to attach various speakers all the way up to £3K. Sound is all personal, but go get a demo and listen for yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous sound, features & style I bought the Evo 150 after some online research. I’m a novice re. streaming; I’m so pleased I decided on the Evo. It sounds very good indeed. It has lots of inputs (inc. XLR), it was easy to set up and the StreamMagic app works well. It also looks lovely IMO. Highly recommended. Great service too from the team at Middlesbrough

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply incredible My existing high end all in one streamer has served me well, but I felt that the very warm and resonant sound could be improved upon. Just as I was trialling a Canadian competitor, the Evo was announced. I already own a Minx and have lusted after the Edge for some time, but its price and sheer bulk have put me off. But this Evo sounded ideal. I have just had this delivered - set up was as straightforward as these things can be - and have enjoyed some varied listening on it. How was it? The Cambridge engineers know their stuff - the pre-amp was always going to be good and you can tell how they have put in a lot of time fine tuning the overall sound. It is warm, like my high end unit, but the bass is far better controlled and more mid and high detail is thus audible. The volume at 50 % is room filling - this is a powerful unit! The larger screen is a plus and the compact size and appearance make this unit acceptable in any room style. Add to that the price (I chose the 150) is almost half that of my high end all in one, while sounding better, and you can see how Cambridge have a winner on their hands.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So near - but just not quite there Remember back in 1999 when, after well over a decade, a new Star Wars was due? Remember how you really wanted to love it but just couldn't? Well that might just be my view on the Evo 150. I really, really want to love it but I just don't, or at least not quite. So for some time I have been using one box systems in my living room/office. I have been using a NAD M10 which is lovely but has some serious connectivity flaws. In particular no headphone out, no XLR connections and a slightly clunky Roon operation. That said it is lovely to look at and operate. The Evo, though, has a gorgeous elegance that, for me, knocks spots off the NAD. The rather lovely double dial, lovely large display and the ability to choose Roon, Qobuz etc as a source is a real triumph. The changeable side panels, whilst a bit of a gimmick, do let you change the look quite easily and nicely. For what it's worth I chose the wood look. So plus one for the Evo, it is really visually and aesthetically beautiful. Set up was also a dream. OK as a Roon user I tend to use the Stream Magic app as a way to do set-up and not much more. It is though a very good app, intuitive, straightforward and it takes you, rather neatly, to the appropriate streaming service - in my case Qobuz - in one go. So, I guess, 10 minutes after opening the box I was up and running. So that's plus two for the Evo. So to its operation, connected through a paid of Wharfedale Lintons, it's good, in fact it's very good in lots of ways. Really nice mid-range to my ears, crisp treble and a fairly wide if not overly expansive soundstage. It also has lots and lots of power to spare. Ears start to hurt at 45 on the volume dial without distortion. Remind me to apologise to my neighbors! Where it falls down as a unit though is in the lower frequencies. The Lintons are known for a warm bass, and that may not help of course, but listening to music with what I would call complex bass lines the Evo sounds just a bit muddy. Not thick glutinous mud that makes your wellies get stuck, just a bit well muddy and icky. That to me was quite surprising. Whether a direct feed of FLAC files from my NAS, hi res recordings from Qobuz or cd quality streams from my PC, everything just sounded a bit clunky in the bass range. Listening to Comfortably Numb by Pink Floyd you just can't quite separate out the instruments and the same applies for Dire Straits with Telegraph Road. Where there should have been a strong and impactful bass line I felt more like I had been slapped by a kipper a la Monty Python. So the Evo is good; but out of the box just not, for me, the class leader it could be. In a similar vein the phono stage also doesn't quite give vinyl the zip I hope for. In fact listening to Enigma's Greatest Hits on vinyl was rather disappointing. To be honest I didn't expect much from the in-built stage so, I guess, no real harm but a little bit of a demerit nonetheless. Now this is where I do have a beef with Cambridge Audio. Neither the unit nor the app enables much in the way of DSP so no way to do a little bit of manual correction for the room's acoustics. Compared to say the Kef LSX or even LS50 Wireless - used by my partner and daughter respectively - the Evo just doesn't let you adjust things a little to compensate for the room. There are no filter settings and even the boost switches found on the Elac Vela Active would help. That is, for me, the biggest omission. No Dirac or similar compensation software. In the wonderful world of digital it is possible to do lots of things to compensate for an acoustically poor room. Maybe it goes against the grain, given I am of the generation of no tone controls, loudness buttons or graphic equalisers, but having experienced it on the NAD I have to say it makes a massive and positive difference. I think, much as I love the company, that Cambridge Audio may be just a little guilty of cutting corners off some of the techy bits of their equipment, again. Who remembers buying a separate blue tooth adapter? So whilst correction software is by no means universal; in a unit like the Evo it feels just a little bit like a trick has been missed. Of course I have no idea what the costs are for this and what would have to be given up instead but I hope they think on this up there in Cambridge. Now you may be thinking I have a downer on the Evo, but I don't. After a couple of hours I connected my Matrix Audio DAC/headphone amp running into the balanced inputs and my old faithful Communicator dedicated phono stage. After less than a minute using these I was back to grinning like a Cheshire Cat. The DAC conversion just felt more open and incisive and the use of filtering just enabled me to polish up the sound from every digital source. Bass strings are now plucked rather than plunked but the mid range and trebles remain clear and crisp. With the phono stage even the relatively cheap Slee Communicator knocks the in-built stage away for clarity, staging and presence. All of which brings me to the crux of things. The 'just add speakers' model, or even the active speaker just add a network cable speakers from Dali, Kef and others, has come on in leaps and bounds in recent years. What the Evo achieves in looks, ease of use and connectivity it loses a little in its performance unless you add enhanced components like an external DAC. I would certainly recommend that anyone looking at the NAD or Naim Uniti range should give the Evo a good and careful listen, perhaps with a pair of typically more detailed speakers (I think the Kef R3s would be worth a listen). All in ones need to be a compromise, of course, and music is subjective and it is important to just enjoy the music your way. For me, though, if I need to add components such as an improved DAC then I could save myself £1300 and go for the CXA81. Even if I added a CXN V2 streamer I'd have £600 of change. I have to say I am tempted to do just that, even if my 'add-ons' are tucked away out of sight. So in conclusion, the Evo is a really great piece of kit in many, many ways and compares, overall, very favorably to both NAD and Naim. I want to love it, I really do but it's just too close to being my Phantom Menace. The Evo beats the NAD with its connectivity and looks, and is close on sound, but I just wonder - if you have the room and don't mind full size units - if the two box offerings from Cambridge Audio might just be a better solution. So give it a listen and judge for yourself. The team at Solihull - who I am not allowed to name anymore but they know who they are - were as wonderfully friendly and helpful as always and I am sure the team in your local store would be the same.
