”A great streamer just got even better.”– ‘What Hi-Fi’ 2018 award winner.

Powerful processor

The V2 version of the CXN features a faster processor for a richer Internet radio experience and a greater level of playback control. Introducing mpeg-DASH and HLS compatibility, the CXN V2 makes the most of Internet radio. BBC radio stations now sound better than ever when available at 320 kbps.

A sound emphasis
As ever, the CXN V2 puts sound quality first. Using twin Wolfson WM8740 DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertors), each channel has its own DAC to process its own information. This gives a more precise and accurate sound quality with improved stereo imaging. When combined with the 2-Pole Dual Differential Bessel filter, the DACs help give the CXN V2 outstanding levels of clarity and transparency of sound.

AFT2 Up-Sampling for the ultimate detail and least jitter
The Cambridge CXN V2 improves sound quality still further with an Anagram Technologies AFT2 24 bit/384 kHz up-sampling circuit. ATF (Adaptive Time Filtering) up-sampling 'stretches' the music to give the highest resolution possible. Up-sampling sound gives a smoother, more relaxed sound quality with added detail. You'll hear every detail, including every deep breath, squeaky chair and flutter of sheet music; in short, it's like being there for real.

Stream all your stored music - including Hi Res files
With UPnP (Universal Plug n' Play) compatibility it's easy to connect the Cambridge CXN V2 to your home network and stream from your NAS drive, hard drive, PC or laptop. The CXN V2 accepts a wide range of files, including many Hi Res formats. ALAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, WMA, MP3, AAC, HE AAC, AAC+ and OGG Vorbis are all supported, making this a highly flexible streamer.

Connect to Internet radio and Spotify Connect
In addition to supporting over 20,000, easy to access Internet radio stations, the CXN V2 is compatible with the most popular music streaming services. Spotify is the world’s most popular streaming service and the CXN V2 has Spotify Connect built-in (requires Spotify Premium account). If you subscribe to Spotify Premium, you can control the Cambridge with the powerful Spotify Connect app on your phone or tablet. The CXN V2 also supports Napster, BBC iPlayer Radio, Aupeo! Pandora and Rhapsody.

AirPlay and optional Bluetooth
In addition to comprehensive streaming capabilities over LAN, Wi-Fi and USB, the CXN V2 is also compatible with Apple's AirPlay streaming. Use it with your iPhone, iPad PC or Mac and wireless stream your iTunes library or other compatible music services. Connect the optional BT100 dongle and you'll be able to stream your music from any smartphone, tablet or other device with Bluetooth built-in.

Built-in digital pre-amp - just add active speakers
If you're seeking quality hi-fi from a minimal system then the built-in digital pre-amp will appeal. Simply add active speakers via the digital or analogue outputs and you'll be able to control the volume and balance via the CXN V2.

Pro connections
When it comes to connecting up, the CXN V2 is in the pro league. The highlight is the fitment of XLR balanced sockets. When used with a compatible amplifier, such as the matching Cambridge CXA80, these connections give the ultimate analogue link possible, with greatly improved resistance to interference.

Quad USB interface
Added to this there are no fewer than four USB interfaces. The front-mounted socket is ideal for connecting devices such as a USB media stick. At the back, two interfaces take care of a more permanently connected media device plus the optional Bluetooth dongle port. A Type-B asynchronous USB input gives direct connection to your PC or Mac. This makes the ideal connection for hooking up your computer as it effectively 'controls' the PC's output for the best sound quality possible – with greatly reduced jitter.

Digital in and out
Optical and coaxial digital sockets are provided for both inputs and outputs. This lets you connect other digital components and take advantage of the quality DAC built into the CXN V2. It also means you can plug the CXN V2 into your AV receiver or digital stereo amp. Analogue phono outputs are also standard.

Intuitive app interface and colour display*
With a free Apple/Android app you have effortless control over the radio stations with the comfort of your iPhone/iPod Touch/iPad or Android device. The app also seamlessly manages all your streaming content and is a very user-friendly way of bringing together and controlling all your digital sources. Boasting a colour screen, it’s a pleasure to browse for albums and artists by whichever control system you use.

Sleek style
The sleek design of the CXN continues with the V2 version. The distinctive teardrop profile gives the CXN V2 a stylish look and makes it the ideal partner for the CX-Series digital amplifiers and CD transport. It’s much more than just a good-looking case; it helps the sound quality, too. With rigid, metal construction and low-resonance design, the casing helps shield the player from both mechanical and electrical interference, helping to improve clarity and reduce background noise.

For a comprehensively equipped network streamer that puts sound first, the Cambridge CXN V2 is still the one to beat.

*Please note that the Cambridge app is not compatible with the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great streamer I deliberated over this purchase having read a good number of reviews and comparison to other products. The price was one factor but I shouldn't have been so cautious in hindsight. The quality of the build, ease of use not to mention the great sound of this quality Cambridge Audio streamer is really impressive. I prefer to buy CDs and having also recently bought a top end NAS my music is readily available without having to fire up the PC. In conjunction with an excellent server and an android app my mobile has become the de facto remote control making selection and browsing so simple and I can play my music all day without any trouble.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A suggestion for an enhancement As everyone says, it is a wonderful device and it does almost everything that I would want together with CXC and CXA My suggestion is that you add a "cast" option to the app so that when playing a CD or other input (stream, USB or NAS server) these can play simultaneously through other chromecasts in a multi-room arrangement.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sounds wonderful! Functionality: Mostly - great I bought this after Christmas and partnered it with my Rega amp. Previously I'd been using a PC and Dragonfly headphone amp for digital music, and wanted a more convenient solution which was also a step up. The sound difference was initially hard to appreciate. It almost sounded less gutsy, but as it ran in, I could appreciate the greater subtlety of the streamer, and, sonically, I just love it. For your digital collection, you'll need to ensure that all your tags and meta-data are accurate to get the most of this, and sadly there is no search option for your music library on the Android version of the Cambridge Connect app. This is an oversight in my opinion, and while I know it is more difficult to develop than for the iOS version (there are many more versions of Android), this is no excuse, Cambridge should sort this out.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Streamer Bought to combine with CXA 80 Amp. Terrific sound from Laptop via USB playing FLAC and High Res files. Also, Internet Radio sounds good. Especially BBC stations as they are at a higher bit rate. Using the XLR connection has taken the sound quality even higher. I am very pleased with this combination from Cambridge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from so simple and great quality I bought this after checking reviews on a number of streamers. What can i says , worked straight out of the box and the build and sound quality is great. I have it working on a direct network connection and it picks up my all my devices, i can also cast to it with easy. The Cambridge app make it simple to control from my phone so i don't have to move from my chair. The radio also offers endless stations from all around the world. Great product and at a fair price!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from True HiFi for the 21st century Bought CXA60 and CDC Friday before Xmas to replace existing but old Cambridge Audio Azur 650A/C. Using my existing speakers, the improvement was clearly evident, so much so I couldn’t help but wonder what a speaker upgrade might deliver too. So back in Sunday and picked up a pair of Monitor Audio Bronze 2’s. John at Richer Sounds store kindly let me audition the speakers before purchase, using same CX series set up that I’d just bought. Whilst doing so, we also had a listen with the CXN and all I can say is wow! Not only do the CXN twin DACs help to upscale from the CXC source, the CXN opens up a world of digital music with all the convenience and accessibility that goes with it, again upscaled whilst also opening up access to hi res better than CD quality. We listened to the same track in store and the hi res flac file was night and day better. I used every ounce of strength I had not to walk out with a CXN there and then, but alas by the next day I had succumb to its charms in a big way and was back Boxing Day morning to pick one up. I’ve had a few separates systems over the years, but can honestly say this new setup along with the CXN is in a different league and the store staff, who are no doubt sick of the sight of me by now have been an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Delivers everything I wanted! Initially bought an entry level streamer, which sounded good but was limited in its ability to work with my NAS and Plex server, so RS kindly allowed me to upgrade to the CXN. What a difference in sound quality and functionality. Works straight out of the box connected to a Rega Elex-R amp and Neat Motive S2 speakers and links easily to Plex / iTunes via Airplay or Ethernet. Excellent sound playing ALAC lossless files. Only minor gripe is that the CA app is a little cumbersome and repetitious to select servers as it does not seem to remember last use. But not a reason not to buy. Great value too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning piece of equipment I have a Cambridge CXA60 amp and B&W 652 speakers but was looking for a replacement source for my old Arcam CD62 as I now listen to most of my music through Apple Music. This streamer had great reviews but I felt it really had to wow me to be worth the money. So having got it home I have to say the answer is yes, it’s worth every penny! Even Apple Music, which according to the reviews doesn’t sound so great, is hugely detailed with tight, heavy bass due to the up sampling. A big thanks to Martin at the Solihull branch for his advice and patience during my needless prevaricating!
