Richer Sounds exclusive model.

Designed using a 'sound first' principle, the Cambridge Audio SX60 speakers are a powerful performer; pure and simple.

Sound quality first

In selecting the drive units for the SX60, Cambridge Audio has put sound quality ahead of all other considerations. A silk dome tweeter gives the ideal combination of crisp detail with a smooth refined sound - the ideal compliment for many budget amplifiers. Matching this is a custom-designed woofer with a treated paper cone, a material that gives the SX60 speakers a fast, responsive sound with excellent bass timing.

Powerful bass response
Using a larger cabinet and woofer cone than the smaller SX50, the SX60 is ideal for larger rooms, or for when a more dynamic sound is required. Bass reaches down to a lower depth and the presence of sound is greater, for a more immersive musical experience.

Rigid MDF cabinet
Designed to minimise standing waves, the rigid MDF cabinets help further in producing a clean, accurate sound. For a well-balanced bass, even at lower volume levels, the SX60 speakers are front-ported. Placing the speakers close to a rear wall or use them in a smaller room? Then dampen the ports with the provided foam inserts, for a sound more attuned to the room.

Designed with attention to detail
To get the best sound, every part of the SX60 has been reviewed. The drive units, for example, are not only recessed but also benefit from hidden fixings. This doesn't just look good, it also promotes better sound-staging for a more accurate rendition of the music. The cable terminals are chunky enough to accept thick cables and are also gold-plated for a lower resistance connection.

High quality sound through attentive design: the Cambridge Audio SX60 speakers make music matter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, even bettet value Had previously bought a CA SX120, also from Richer Sounds and was suoer impressed. This was the predominant reason for my purchase of these speakers. I didn't need anything massive, just a pare of back speakers to complete a 5.1 surround sound system and these seemed perfect! These would be just as perfect in a smaller system, they carry a lot of sound and deliver really well across the frequency range.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Wasn't certain when left the shop having not heard them but true to his word the salesman said I would not be disappointed and he was right these speakers sound is fantastic with as much bass you want and a crystal clear top end. Very pleased

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Look good, Sound better Bought just after Christmas to replace 25 year old speakers. Called first to check stock, then collected and paid in store within the hour. My new speakers sound crisper with a wider dynamic sound to them, with plenty of bass too. If they last as long as my previous speakers I will be very happy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from OK but not exceptional Was persuaded to upgrade to these when on offer and were only a tenner more than my original idea. Cabinet finish is ok but on the cheaper side of nice though most people don't look that closely. Performance is OK for a medium sized room but a little 'boomy'. You get foam filler blocks included so that the reflex ports can be bunged up if it is overpowering. Overall happy with the purchase, reasonable performance for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound from the size I bought the sx60’s a couple of weeks ago and am still running them in. Far too good for my bedroom which is what I originally intended them for.....now in my lounge and the sound is fantastic - crisp with good bass (paired with the axr100 Cambridge amp)

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound exceed expectations. I bough these Cambridge SX60 to replace age worn Wharfedale Diamond 410s, that I had been using with my old NAD amp. Sadly the NAD died and so I replaced it with a cheap Sony STR-DH190 receiver. I was initially disappointed with the receiver, the bass was totally lack with the old Diamonds but the SX60s were a perfect replacement, providing nice bass depth to componsate for the bright Sony. The speakers have attractive push on grills, and come supplied with foam bungs if the bass feels too boomy. Excellent budget choice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from These speakers offer SUPERB value Last week, I upgraded the core of my music system, the amplifier and speakers. A few weeks ago, I got the Cambridge Audio AM10 and the Cambridge Audio SX 60 speakers. I was previously using a Cambridge Audio A1 paired with Gale Gold Monitors. They were a good team and gave nine years of sterling service. But nothing lasts forever, and they began to struggle with the audio workload I placed on them. Hence the upgrade. Everything I have thrown at the CA SX 60s, they have handled with aplomb. From the hardest drum and bass and hip hop, to classical, to ambient and everything in between, they excel. I am VERY glad that I bought these speakers, and I know that they will give me many years of good service. I highly recommended them, no matter what you like to listen to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cambridge audio SX60 speakers I visited the Watford banch on the chance they had the SX60's in stock, they did and, in the Walnut finish I wanted! Having read the reviews on both the Richer Sounds website and those from What HiFi, I was sold. Once connected to my NVA amp, it became obvious of these are great speakers, great bass, mids and highs gel well, positioning needs to be thought out and, with a good clearance from the back wall, the bass wasn't at all boomy, tight and loads of depth. Should you need to place them closer to a wall, any boom can be reduced by fitting tge supplied foam plugs into the front facing ports. On tge whole, I'd have to score them very high for their sound, the finish is very nice, sharp clean cabinet corners, nice grills, very impressive wood finish, a real look and feel of quality and, the bedt bit, the price - £129, bargain! Thoroughly recommended, I can't wait to try them with my Quad 34/306.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sound better than what i would have thought!! I brought these speakers expecting the average bookshelf sounding speaker that lacks in bass but i was pleasantly surprised when i heard them. They were almost to loud at the low end while they where on my desk. I then brought some stands for them to put either side of my desk. This made them sound beautiful and more soft sounding. At this price range i don't think i have heard a better sounding speaker.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great warm sound, good bass I've had them for nearly 2 weeks and they sound great playing electronic, dance, rock, pop music paired with my fairly old TEAC AG 790. I was drawn to these because previous reviews commented there was plenty of bass and as I don't have a sub woofer chanel on my amp these are perfect for my 2.0 set up in my living room. I recommend them to anyone who wants a low cost but clear sound. I also like the 'tradition' appearance of these speakers, even sitting on 800mm stands they not too in your face in terms of looks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Sounding Speakers Bought these speakers a week ago and still running in. First impressions are that the sound is well balanced with good resonant tones and feedback. I am sure that the sound will improve still further given time making these a first class entry speaker that look good and are very well priced. I recommend this product and also the outstanding service given to me in store.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good for the money Warm, rich sound. Deep tuneful bass which is tidy and tight and they have a great sense of rhythm. Use the foam plugs for the bass ports if you have to have them closer to a wall as I found that some of the treble, midrange and soundstaging gets lost if close to the wall without the foam plugs. The treble isn't too bright, which is perfect if you have a crisp and detailed sounding amp - I'm using a Rotel RA-935BX which works well. I think the treble would sound a bit reticent if you have a warmer sounding amp, as these speakers are very warm sounding themselves. Only criticism is they could do with handling the subleties in the music more - don't get me wrong, they have a very detailed sound which is tonally balanced from the bass up to the treble, but some of the less noticable subtleties get overlooked. Overall, they are a fantastic pair of speakers and you can't go wrong for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Like spending time with a good friend Brought these from Brighton, to replace a pair of well loved Dynatron speakers to compliment my 70s era hifi, I wanted a smaller unit but still with the big sound that the old Dynatrons gave......wow.....after hooking them up to my 30wpc Rotel receiver, dropped the stylus on my Goldring Lenco GL78, I was smothered in warm, rich sound that would not offend anyone, the type of sound that you can listen to all day without fatigue, the low end is prominent but not Woolley, the highs are clear and concise but without being artificially painful. I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to replace older drivers, and with the walnut finish, they blend in seamlessly with any vintage setup. Listening to these is like pulling up a comfy chair with a nice malt and a good friend.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Friday afternoon model? Okay, they sound good, and are conceptually handsome. It's a shame then that their construction is appalling. The rubberised mount around the tweeter unit on the left speaker was all scuffed, and the cabinet edges are just ropey. I work in a school, and these remind me more of a Year 11 DT project than a product of quality from a renowned manufacturer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AN AMAZINGLY DETAILED SET OF BUDGET SPEAKERS I went into my local Richer Sounds in Southampton, to pick up an Audio Technica AT-LP5 turntable. I thought about picking up an inexpensive set of new speakers while I was there too, to replace my tiny mini hifi JVC pair. I wasn't overly impressed with the deck when I got it home and set it up, but these speakers blew me away both in-store and at home with my own setup. The shop were excellent, suggesting I give them a test run rather than buying without hearing, even setting me up with an iPad and a nice £2,500 amp to test a few records I know very well. So like old times I sat on the rug and listened to a few old favourites. I also A/B'd them with a smaller set of Tannoys of the same impedance to be sure and maybe it was the size difference but these blew the Tannoys away with their increased vibrancy and bass response. The SX60s carry what I'd consider a whopping amount of bass, not bad at all for a two way ported stereo set with these dimensions, well defined/detailed mids and trebles that always sound sweet, never piercing. I'm running them exclusively for spinning vinyl at home on my vintage 1973 Goldring Lenco GL75 deck (ADC cartridge/K8 stylus, original tonearm for those that care deeply about such vital stats), paired with an old but immaculate Sherwood AX4050R amp. Not the most expensive rig but with the bass/treble controls cranked and the Loudness button on, tone for days. Even modern vinyl like Smoove & Turrell's "Mount Pleasant" (a record I'd strongly suggest anyone with even a passing interest in disco/early house/blue eyed soul/R'n'B add to their collection immediately if it's not already there) with a lot of bass stays fairly tight and detailed even when the mix gets busy. Certainly more than a budget speaker set has any right to! The only criticisms I have are about the least important aspect and something I can easily forgive at this price point - the quality of the finish. It's clearly cheap MDF covered with wood effect laminate, which on my set (admittedly a floor model as it's the only set that was in stock at the time) is already peeling a little at the corners. Having said that, the look of the speakers from the front with the covers off is pretty slick; always fun watching the woofers pulsate in time with the kick drum and/or bass guitar. Speaker technology has moved on so much in the last 20 years, which is about the last time I bought a new set. If you don't have a halfway decent set of speakers, these can't be recommended enough. My emphasis is on rock, pop, soul, house, funk and a few others (not opera or classical) and they deliver the goods for those.
