“Quad’s fine little amplifier now sounds bigger and better, while adding extra features, too.” ‘Hi-Fi Choice’ ‘Editor’s Choice – 5-star review’.

The compact amp that does it all

Packed inside the understated Vena II, you’ll find everything you need in a modern day amp. A built-in DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) provides digital inputs and outputs. Analogue inputs include a connection dedicated to your turntable. Wireless music streaming from your smartphone or other device is also possible, thanks to the Bluetooth link. There’s also a top quality headphone output. Everything you need in an amp is right here.

Quad quality sound
With decades of top quality audio experience, the Quad Vena II sounds every bit the award-winner it is. An upgraded toroidal transformer and high output capacitors give the Vena II firm control and excellent dynamic range. Whatever the music, the Quad’s 45 watts per channel delivers a ‘wall of sound’ that makes you feel the performers are in the room with you.

Playback your Hi-Res music files
With the superb ESS Sabre32 Reference DAC at its heart, the Vena II effortlessly handles your hi-res music files. Use the USB digital input and the Vena II decodes right up to studio quality 32-bit/384kHz and DSD256. With the optical and coaxial inputs, the hi-res music capacity is a still impressive 24-bit/192kHz – the usual standard for most hi-res music files.

Full digital connectivity
Helping you make the most of your hi-res and digital components, the Vena II features a class-leading array of digital socketry. Choose between USB, coaxial and two opticals for your inputs – ideal for your computer, TV, Blu-ray/DVD/CD player, network streamer and many other devices with a digital output. There are also optical and coaxial digital outputs, making this amp perfect for digital recorders or multi-room feeds.

Bluetooth for wireless sound
For wireless streaming, the Vena II also comes with built-in Bluetooth. Compatible with aptX, the Vena II offers the potential for high quality Bluetooth streaming. Simply pair with your smartphone, tablet or other device and stream your stored music and favourite music services, such as Spotify, Deezer and Apple Music.

Connect analogue sources
The Vena II hasn’t forgotten about your analogue sources. Twin RCA inputs are perfect for plugging in sources such as a tuner, cassette player or any other source with an analogue output. With its pre-amp outputs, you can also connect up a more powerful, larger power amp, should you choose.

Vinyl doesn’t take a back seat
Quad have fitted with the Vena II with a phono input; letting you connect up Moving Magnet cartridge equipped turntables. This isn’t just any old phono input, though. The low-noise, JFET-based circuit with precise RIAA equalisation gets the very best from your turntable’s sound. Low distortion and a wide frequency response mean you get to hear the most subtle details with crystalline clarity.

Superior quality headphone output
Like the phono pre-amp, the headphone output is carefully and skilfully developed in its own right, rather than being an afterthought. The Vena II features a dedicated headphone amp with current-feedback circuitry and wide bandwidth. This gives you a sound that’s much more powerful and three-dimensional than you’d usually get with most standard headphone outputs. It also drives a wide range of headphones with ease – even if they’re current-hungry designs.

Smart good looks
Striking the perfect balance between retro and minimalism, the Vena II is a design classic. The standard ‘Lancaster Grey’ blends with a wide range of components and speakers. At just 313mm wide, it also has a smaller footprint than most of its rivals, making it easier to fit tighter spaces.

Get an amp that handles it all and sounds great into the bargain – the Quad Vena II is the perfect all-rounder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lockdown service I found out difficult to order through my local branch, but the telesales person was very pleasant and helpful. He checked my new amplifier was compatible with the existing speakers and the unit was delivered promptly, and at a good price. I would use Richer Sounds again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant! I purchased this a fortnight ago along with Q Acoustics 3050i speakers. I have an imac plugged directly into it, as well as a record deck and CD player. All I can say is I have hardly switched off over the two weeks: it’s brought my music, from all sources, alive. The sound is outstanding; very detailed and with incredible depth. The unit itself feels very robust and, to me, looks good.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quad Vena II I got this unit to replace a faulty amp / dac unit that was in my located in my study. Due to the Quad’s compact dimension’s it fits very neatly on the computer desk, with plenty of room left for ventilation. The amp feels solidly constructed and the controls are nice and tactile. Currently I have the amp connected up to my pc via the USB B input for playing a range of music, from games, YouTube to 24 bit 192KHz flac files. The amp has a lovely detailed but smooth sound, which has more than enough power (65w RMS to 4Ohms) to drive my Dali opticon 1’s which are connection to the vena II. With the volume set at quarter it has plenty of volume on tap for the size of my study! I also it has no problems with running my Grado 325E’s when plugged into the headphone socket. Overall a great amp with very pleasant sound which you can listen too for hours on end.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from superb sound This product, with a pair of Quad S2 standmount speakers has exceeded my expectations. I use it with digital music of cd or better quality from my phone or pc, with the integral dac. I also use it with a turntable to play records, really good, very versatile/

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Little Amp Wanted a new integrated amp for my system and after much consideration (and a very good demo at Richer Sounds Leicester) purchased the Quad Vena II. And I'm impressed. My old Arcam Delta amp from the 90s sounded harsh through my Kef IQ5SE speakers so wanted something a little more tonally rich and refined. And this Quad was the perfect choice. Sounds great with my kind of music (jazz, female vocals, classical) and, as it has a built-in DAC it works wonderfully well with the Audiolab CD transport I've also just bought. And I was quite amazed at the sound quality it produces by bluetoothing over some tracks from Spotify. If I had to criticize anything it would be I would like just a few more watts of power as I'm having to turn the volume knob to 1 o'clock on a regular basis but the smooth, relaxed and detailed sound makes up for that. Great service from the guys at the Leicester store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Maybe I Just Found The Perfect Sub 1500 Pound Well, where to begin. A pop into Solihull RS last Friday for a catch up and chat - cos they're great people basically - to see a grinning Stuart saying you have to listen to this amp pointing gleefully at the Quad Vena II. With nothing better to do for an hour I said go on then, popped out for a dozen donuts (it was Valentines Day) and back for a listen and Wow, wow, wow. Started with some Monitor Audio Silver 100s, always a bit shallow for me but it gave even them some depth which piqued interest. Then the piece de resistance the Focal Aria 906s. Always been a fan but they just didn't suit my Creek 50A. So thought give em a go. DOUBLE TREBLE Wow. Now the Quad sang. In my view great depth, superb staging and awesome detail dug out. Sheku Kanneh Masons Elgar just zoomed out. Gaze by The Beautiful South - possibly my favorite album of all time - had whole lines of percussion I had never noticed before. I normally listen for maybe 10 minutes and say meh. This time (I had decided in 5 minutes and listened for nearly an hour) see donuts pay dividends. Just to check we tried the Cambridge CXA61 that Hwat HiFi has gushed over. Frankly at 100 pounds more it didn't touch the Quad, almost scratchy and lightweight to my ears. So in summary go listen to this beauty. Small footprint, great power and the best sound I have heard below a grand. If you can try the Focals and see if you too get lost. Oh and Stuart and gang were as helpful, amazing and generally great as ever.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent amplifier with extras. I bought this just under a fortnight ago to replace a Quad 33/303/FM3 combination that I have had for 37 years. The 33/303 had just died and I wanted something which would sound reasonably similar and be constructed to last. This new amplifier Vena 2 fits the bill perfectly. It is not huge and looks quite discrete and uncluttered in battleship grey. Each rear input is marked on the front and when activated by itś button a blue light glows to show it is in operation. The only other control is a good sized volume knob which is very smooth in operation, no clicks, no jumps in volume just smooth analogue control. A really well built and simple remote control is included for choosing which input, volume and on/off. Importantly it has a built in phono pre-amplifier stage which I needed to to play my vinyl collection. It does not have tone controls and neither does it have a balance control. But I have found that I don´t need them because if the speakers are correctly positioned the balance is fine and it plays music as it was intended to be heard. It also has blue-tooth capability which is working well with my Chromebook. A disappointment was that the Update USB socket appears to be limited to Apple devices which is a shame. There are two other inputs for RCA which I am using for a CD player and a Tuner, as well as digital outputs and inputs which I have not used. At £650 it is not cheap but from my point of view worth every penny. I am really pleased that I bought it. It is also good to know that both Richer Sounds and Quad are very quick off the mark at answering questions and supply advice and support.
