Make all your sound and vision streaming sources the best they can be, with the powerful Pioneer VSX933.

More power for even greater immersion

With power now standing at a mighty 135 watts per channel, the Pioneer VSX933 is more punchy-sounding than ever. 7.2 surround sound immerses you, giving you cinema sound surround that no soundbar can compete with.

Dolby Atmos and DTS:X plus DTS Neural:X
Dolby Atmos uses ceiling or upwards firing speakers to produce a multi-dimensional, immersive sound that's a match for the finest cinemas. DTS:X literally pushes the boundaries of what you can expect from home cinema. It renders images in three dimensions that conventional processing can't match. DTS Neural:X upmixer supports Dolby formats, giving you DTS surround whatever the format.

Reflex Optimiser makes the most of Atmos
Designed to get the most from Dolby Atmos speakers, Reflex Optimiser uses Phase Control technology for improved focus. By aligning the frequencies from ceiling or upward-firing speakers, the sound is more ‘together’, making it sound more natural and less disjointed.

More streaming options than ever – including Amazon Prime Music and Chromecast
Already one of the best-equipped AV receivers for streaming music, the Pioneer VSX-933 features more streaming options than ever. Integrated Amazon Prime Music (via firmware update) joins Spotify (Premium account required for full features), TIDAL and Deezer to make this the best choice of AV receiver for music streaming. There’s also Google Chromecast built-in. This lets you stream music, podcasts and audio apps, including Google Play, at the touch of a button.

DTS Play-Fi for effortless streaming and multi-room
DTS Play-Fi is a premium, wireless control system that brings everything under one 'roof'. Download the free app and you'll not only have access to Internet radio but also popular music apps such as Spotify, Tidal, Deezer and Napster. As well as bringing all your streaming sources together, Play-Fi offers the potential for full multi-room music. Simply add other Play-Fi compatible sources and you'll quickly be able to build up a comprehensive music system around your home - all under the control of a single app.

FlareConnect for any music source in any room
Streaming music between rooms from any source, including records and CDs, is easy with FlareConnect. When used with compatible FlareConnect speakers, you can listen to your treasured vinyls and CDs in any room. Music selection, speaker grouping and playback control is all built-in to the Pioneer Remote App for effortless smartphone or tablet control.

Support for Dolby Vision, HDR10 and HLG
The Pioneer VSX-933 is the perfect partner for your HDR-equipped TV and video sources. It supports HDR10, Dolby Vision, HLG and HDCP 2.2, which means you can play UHD Blu-ray discs and stream UltraHD video in the highest quality. It's also equipped with 4K upscaling, giving you the most detailed picture on your 4K TV from all sources. The HDMI sockets allow 4K pass-through, for hassle free switching and viewing without the receiver needing to be on.

Now featuring 6 HDMI sockets
With an extra two HDMI sockets over the older model, the VSX933 can now support the most complex AV systems. Games consoles, set-top TV boxes, cameras, video streamers and Blu-ray players can all be accommodated, without the need for HDMI switching units.

Wide range of legacy connections – including a turntable input
When it comes to connecting older sources, the VSX-933 has everything covered – right down to your turntable. Legacy sources such as DVD players or older games consoles connect via digital optical, coaxial component and composite inputs. As well as a turntable input there are four line level ones – ideal for a CD player, music streamer and other music sources. With USB sockets at both the front and rear, connecting a media device and playing back your digital music library is easily achieved.

Zone 2 for music in another room
Another great new feature with the Pioneer VSX-933 is Zone 2 active and passive audio outputting. Use the active outputs to power standard speakers in a second room. Alternatively, RCA phono outputs let you use your own choice of active speakers or amp/speaker combo in another room.

Raise your home entertainment game, with the all-powerful Pioneer VSX933.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dolby Atmos Amp from Pioneer Bought this pioneer Dolby atmos enabled amp in order to get the best possible surround sound available in my price range. I’m in my 60s and found it to a be simple process to set up using the microphone provided for speaker calibration. Movies now feel much more cinematic you really feel that you’re in the centre of the action with this Pioneer amp.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from seems great choice for mixed systems My last unit had big problems and i think had been damaged but it had been second hand. I initially wanted a different model but they were not in stock but this one was and it still had 2 of the old stly inputs for some of my retro gear. It went in with no problems. There seems to be a delay when switching input sources but nothing huge and it could be my older hardware.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value Great sound I bought this Amp because my old Sony Amp had developed a fault This product is very well priced ,a lot of features I might not use but for younger people it's great, not tried the atmos sound yet no extra speaker yet but soon. The sound quality to my ears is very good, but that is subjective Certainly an upgrade to my old one. I've just had a Sony 4K tv they go together brilliantly. That's all folks

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Atmos sound on a sub £300 budget. I purchased this reciever after my previous yamaha rx-v679 developed a fault with the display HDMI port (not an uncommon problem i'm led to believe!). The repair was going to be quite expensive and I noticed that the pioneer had been reduced quite substantially over the last few months to less than £300 (plus I fancied upgrading from dolby True HD 7.1 to Atmos 5:1:2 as I had heard good things!) The reciever was the typical black box with the display slapped in the middle, nothing really exciting or modern, but at the same time it was well laid out without a multitude of buttons that are never needed, and included two big dials either side, one turned to select one of the sources (6HDMI sources, component, radio, TV, DAB((with a paid USB add on)), and analogue audio) and the other dial for volume (suprise suprise). It's not gonna win any design awards, but it fits with most of the other multitude of boxes now sat under most peoples tv's or in a cabinet. Wiring in the speakers was probably the hardest part of the set up. Adapting it from 7.1 setup to 5.1.2 required me to have two ceiling mounted speakers (this is a requirement for Atmos) but the placement is quite forgiving and I used the placement of the rear surround and front/center from my 7.1 setup. The reciever does accept banana plugs for the speaker connection (not mentioned in the instructions, but there is a small plug in the speaker connections on the back of the reciever that can be removed with a small screw!) Once this is done, setup itself is an absolute breeze! It guides you through every aspect of it via an on screen display (on tv, not the flouresent display on the unit). It uses the included microphone to analyse a multidude of frequencies output by the speakers in turn, to adjust the sound and delay to your room. It's actually quite clever and worked reasonably well. So much so, that most newbies to this would never have to touch it again apart from adjusting volume, but people with a more discerning ear may want to increase the center channel a bit, ease back on the sub, and adjust the crossover (but like I say, it's good enough to not be absolutely necessary!) The sound it can produce from supported formats is quite superb! The difference for me from the 7.1 true HD format to Atmos was quite profound, giving a much more immersive experience, but I think Atmos might be better suited to smaller viewing areas anyway (my living room is not large, but does lend itself to ideal speaker placement). One thing I did have problems with was the reciever not (initially) passing through a 4k picture with HDR (it could do one or the other, but not both, if you wanted HDR you had to settle for 1080p, not ideal for a reciever advertising HDCP 2.3 and BT2023) The guys at Richer Sounds were brilliant, offering to replace the reciever for me for a different brand substitute with no quibbles whatsoever! Even rushing around with phone calls so I could get it the next day! All during Covid lockdown! The guys went above and beyond and were awesome. I later found out that night about some hidden feature (yes...pioneer do not activate FULL HDMI compatibility out of the box, nor do they advertise it in their instructions or online site!!!) that some boffin had found and posted on his blog. It required holding down the display button while powering on with the standby button and keeping them held in until the display shows HDMI, and then pressing another button until it changes to HDMI EXTRA and then powering off! Told you it was hidden! Anyway, this worked and I then got back in touch with Richer Sounds to explain. They were very understanding, seemed genuinely happy i'd fixed it, and asked if i wanted to cancel the replacement (which was already on the way!). I did (never really wanted another Yamaha after the HDMI problems I'd had with my other 2, but it was the only like for like within my budget, well...£50 dearer!) I am now totally blown away by my Pioneer, and at the same time, completely confused as to why the advertised functions are not available out of the box (or easily fixable by a look at the instructions) Still....all good in the end! And one thing is for sure, I will definitely be using Richer Sounds for any other AV equipment I may treat myself to in the future. Great bunch of guys I spoke to! I can't recommend them highly enough!
