Compact, stylish and sparkling-sounding, the Tangent CD II is the perfect CD player for enjoying your disc collection.

Quality CD sound

High quality components are used by Danish company, tangent, to deliver a smooth and detailed sound. The robust slot-load mechanism uses fewer moving parts than a draw system, giving improved reliability.

Compact size
Narrower than most Hi-Fi separates, the compact Tangent CD II fits tighter spaces. The matching tuner and amp make up a neat system that has the convenience of a mini system with the sound quality of separates.

System remote control
The supplied remote control doesn’t just operate the CD player, it also controls a full tangent system, including amplifier and tuner – making the full Tangent system every bit as convenient as an all-in-one system.

Fully featured
Desirable features include an optical digital output – perfect for connecting to a higher quality DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) or digital amp. The player is also compatible with MP3 files, making it ideal for playing back your MP3 mix CDs.

Get the best from your CDs, with the stylish Tangent CD II.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Small but does what I need Bought this just before Christmas at the Leeds branch. Wanted a CD player to extend the versatility of the Niam Muso. Had this unit demo in the shop and it sounded v good through the Muso. Also purchased an optical 2 way switch so that I can play the cd and then switch back to the Muso as a tv sound bar or streamer. For the price it performs very well and is small and unobtrusive in the living room. Basic but well built and would recommend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great CD player and great music for the price Bought the Tangent CD Mkll player based on the reviews and the cost. It has not let me down yet. I linked it through my Cambridge Amp into my Dali speakers and the result is great music. It was easy to install and is easy to operate. Yes I know some people have commented about the lack of a visible track listing, but is that really important if you get great music for a great price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Does the job but.. It leaves a gap between seamless songs. Don't even know how this is possible in today's CD players. I have older olds that do a better job and smaller still - a portable Goodmans CD player

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks great, sounds better I bought the Tangent Ampster at the end of last year thinking I would go completely digital. It turned out I wasn't quite ready to get rid of my CD collection after having them in a box for the last two years and have been enjoying reconnecting with them, thanks to the Tangent CDII. There's one thing that might bother some people - there's no track number display - so it seems it's for people who listen to the full album which I've been appreciating. Also, if the Ampster goes into standby, putting a disc into the CD player doesn't wake it up, so you need the remote nearby. But that's a tiny niggle. I love how the system sounds, they both fit together so neatly, are compact and stylish. Big thumbs up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value - good sound I had a narrow shelf in my study and wanted a CD player to fit. There were a few options - this was the cheapest, and had a few good reviews to recommend it. I am pleased with the result. Paired with a Musical Fidelity V90-HPA 'phones amp, it gives great sound with good clarity over headphones (AKG550 MkIIs), and I can also plug my computer audio (Creative Inspire speakers and sub-woofer) into the phones output for a reasonable sound in a small room. The DC player is robust - it is metal construction - and simple to use. If you don't need all the bells and whistles of a full spec CD player, this is a good option.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Compact CD player i bought this CD player as I needed a small player to replace an existing (but larger) one to occupy a small-ish space on a shelf as part of my existing system and this was the only one in stock which would fit. It seems to work well. My criticism is the absence of a visual display showing which track is being played.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from service It is no wonder that Richer Sounds have been named as the best high street retailer. I bought the Tangent CD player unheard over the phone as a cheap stop gap while my old Meridian player was being repaired (see earlier review). I was so impressed by the the quality of sound from the Tangent, and rapid service by Richer Sounds that I gave it a five star rating. The player appeared to start skipping so I took it to the Cambridge branch where they agreed to exchange it without quibble and said the replacement would arrive on the coming Monday. This was a Friday and the Tangent was delivered the next day, less than 24 hours later. Now, after a couple of months of use, the Tangent is now part of a second system and I remain highly impressed by its sound quality. I probably use it as much as my Meridian/Quad/IMF system. It is a very basic machine which represents excellent value for money. If you want a lot of bells and whistles you would be better to look elsewhere.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great little CD player Wanted a small compact CD player to run with My Ruark speakers and this has proven the perfect little option. Small, compact, classy and good sound.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Solid, no nonsense CD player. Bought to replace another remote CD deck, this is a solid, metal cased, no-nonsense deck, essentially a black box with a slot for the CD, on/off, play, stop, forward and backward and eject buttons.....and that's about it! Very pleased with it, a repeat function would be good, as would an indicator of which track is playing - but it isn't important. Basically.......I like it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Danish style and excellent sound I wanted a really compact CD player for my set up and there was nothing around that compared with the Tangent CD II. It’s brilliantly functional and oozes Nordic style. The codecs seem to find bits of information in CDs that I’ve not heard before so every play is a journey of pleasant discovery! If I was in the market for an amp I’d snap up the matching item in a heartbeat.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent service I have to give Richer Sounds and the Tangent CD player both five stars. I needed a cheap CD player as a stopgap after my 20+ year-old Meridian developed a fault and looked at the Richer Sounds Website where I spotted the £179 Danish-designed, Chinese-built Tangent. I spoke to a salesman at the Cambridge branch who advised on a number of players before I settled on the Tangent. I was a little disappointed to be told the firm was about to start a two-day stock-take, and that I would not receive the player until the Friday. I made the order on the Monday, received the receipt by post the following along with a text from DPD, which I did not read assuming it was confirming delivery on the Friday. I was most surprised when the DPD van pulled up on the Wednesday, two days earlier than I expected. (Should have read the text). Plugged the machine and was amazed at the quality of the sound through my old Quad 33/303. Punches well above its weight. The only snag is that it is a bit of a pain to start. You have to remember to select CD every time, even though it is the only component in the system, and then there is a delay of several seconds before anything happens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect Fit Had a very tight space to fit a CD player into after redesigning our front room with built in cupboards. This and the Denon were the only ones that fitted. Had heard the Denon, but not the Tangent, and the shop refused to open one up and test. Was going to just buy the Denon, but took a gamble on the Tangent. So glad I did - over £100 cheaper than the Denon. Sound is great coming thru our Sonos system. Would recommend
