Richer Sounds exclusive model.

The Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus does the seemingly impossible and improves upon a legend!

The best just gets better

With a raft of improvements the Cambridge Audio DacMagic Plus is still the best way of improving the sound from your hi-fi, AV system, PC, laptop and now, even your headphones!

Massive improvements to the sound of your digital sources
The purpose behind the DacMagic Plus is simple: to make your music sound better, whatever the digital source. Plug in your Blu-ray, DVD or CD player via optical or coaxial connections (there are two of each) and enjoy up-sampled music quality that's better than CD. The USB connection for your computer supports 24-bit transfer for 'better than CD quality'. So music files stored on your PC or laptop in top 24/192 quality can be streamed, uncompressed, through the DacMagic Plus and enhanced by its DAC.

Bluetooth, to work with your phone or tablet
The Plus model has the option of being able to stream music from your smartphone or tablet via Bluetooth. With the optional BT100 audio receiver connected, simply link up via high quality apt-X or standard Bluetooth and stream your stored or streaming tunes from your device to the DacMagic and on into your hi-fi.

The best specification in its class
The DacMagic Plus has the highest quality digital circuitry possible at its price. Twin Wolfson WM8740 DACs, implemented in a dual differential mode, are complemented by an Anagram Technologies AFT2 24 bit/384 kHz up-sampling circuit. Up-sampling conventional CD 'stretches' the format to give the highest resolution possible, and also aids standard 24-bit/192kHz recordings with a faster sampling rate for less jitter.

How does it sound?
Up-sampling gives a smoother, more relaxed sound quality with added detail. You'll also notice enhanced depth and a more natural quality without the 'edge' that can afflict digital music. You'll hear every detail, including the odd cough, squeaky chair and flutter of sheet music; in short, it's like being there for real!

More than a DAC
First off, the DacMagic Plus comes with a dedicated headphone amp and volume control. More revealing, more dynamic and with less noise, the headphone output gives your cans a whole new lease of life. In addition it comes with a new digital pre-amp function. Combined with the volume control, you can now connect directly to active speakers or a power amp for a shorter signal path and superior sound quality.

With more features than ever but the same performance boosting appeal, the DacMagic Plus is more than magic, it's magic plus!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A quality DAC This is a high quality DAC which sounds great with the Cambridge Audio CD CXC Transport. My only quibble is the volume control which, annoyingly, resets to zero each time you switch off the DAC and has no display to show the level it's set at. Fortunately, the manual shows you how to override the volume control so that you control the volume solely from the amplifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Dac Bought this to upgrade my digital sources, Blue Ray and TV. It produces a warm sound with greater depth. I also bought the BT100 upgrade dongle, and streaming AptX from my Samsung S9 it sounds amazing, with no drop out as yet.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A worthy addition to any digital audio source I bought this to replace an identical 6 year old unit, that failed. The only downside is that the volume resets every time you turn the unit off.... I don't turn the unit off :-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good DAC, Excellent Price I bought this so i can interface my TV through my amp, works great straight from the box. I also have a Marantz PM8005 amp and CD6005 and decided to connect through the DAC whille i had it. Differences were subtle, but a slight improvement on clarity and definition. Had the unit 2 years now, no issues with it so far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Prone to Bitrate Display Failure I bought mine from RS several years ago and as luck would have it, the bitrate indicators packed up outside the warranty period. Now they flash occasionally! I know my experience is not unique but Cambridge Audio didn’t have a solution. I have a 30 year old NAD amp and an even older Quad 44 and all the display indicators work fine. Seems they don’t make them like they used to but the DACMagic Plus is still a very good dac. Whether it will last 30 years is another matter.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great reasonably priced dac. I bought this item to connect my cd transport to dac then to amp as the cd transport will not work without a dac.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sounding DAC I bought this DAC a couple of weeks ago to reinforce my Cambridge Audio Azure CD player, after I had to have it rebuilt, and to provide TV sound for special music/sporting events. The manual says to 'burn-in' for a minimum of I week( 168 hours ) before it will really 'start to sing'. Ok, so I did try it( naturally ) straight out of the box with the cd player above. Awesome amount of extra bass straight out of the box, but a little 'splashy' at the top end of the spectrum. So, it has now been on for some 200 hours, and I can confirm that there is still a lot more bass, the treble and mid ranges are well controlled as is the bass. There is also a lot more detail appearing, especially in the lower registers, which my system handles well( it has a lot of headroom, and a small passive sub ). The TV sound is enhanced by a larger margin, than without it, so all is good. Not had use of a DAC before now, but I am impressed with the quality of sound and the build appears to be ok, too. Not had it long enough to evaluate it's performance when fully' burned-in'( about 500 hours from new ), and the speakers have just been re-wired so looking forward to event better sound over the next few weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just what I had been missing Some ten years I bought myself a hi-fi valve amplifier, and although it delivered in the low end and midrange frequencies, it always lacked a high end sparkle. As a result the amp would be periodically alternated in my rack with a solid state model since I was never able to settle with its sound... Enter the Cambridge Audio Dacmagic Plus. I had intended to use it with my current system, but thought that first it might be nice to try it with valves. The sound now coming from my speakers was now a revelation. Bottom end weight, but with detail aplenty in the upper registers: It had completely transformed the sound of my valve amplifier. I do feel that the Dacmagic Plus needs careful pairing with components, but if you want to open up your current set up to make it more revealing then this DAC may well be just what you are looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great value for money. A very competent DAC for the price. I am using it with a Technics A900 MKII amp, Dali Oberon five speakers and a Nad 568 CD player and there’s definitely a great improvement in sound. I have tried it out with my windows laptop and it works well pumping the laptop sound through my system. I bought the optional BT100 Bluetooth adaptor with this and I can pump my phone, TV and iPad through my system really well. I’ve tried both optical and coax from my CD player and both methods sound just as good but have decided to use coax. The features work well including the filters and there’s plenty of inputs and outputs too. Criticisms would be a remote control or app would be handy but strictly speaking not really needed and the volume control knob feels a little cheap in manufacture plus it’s a little vague when adjusting the volume when using with headphones. The Bluetooth struggles to change from one device to another and I have sometimes had to resort to reinstalling devices. The only instruction you really need is if you want to disable the volume knob then hold it down when powering up the device and it will only work with headphones. If you use it as a pre amp then don’t disable the volume control knob. overall I throughly recommend the DACmagic plus.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good sound, capable unit Bit old hat in design and function, no remote. Good connections. Very good sound. Online instructions a bit vague in wording. Works well with my hifi, tv and pc.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a difference! Great bit of kit This has changed the way I listen to music! I have a top end (but old Arcam CD player) and a Brennan B2. I had not believed this dac would make that much difference - but it does! Also improved the sound from music on my Mac Book. If only that I can now play Flac 96 Hi-res downloads and streaming. I had been using a cheap DAC! A very smart bit of kit - well worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Small but with a lot of punch and quality I bought this for my home studio set up to go from my Mac to a pair of monitors. Perfect choice as it turns out. Sound quality is superb and so is the build quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Time to make the sound card redundant It is amazing how you can get used to the pc soundcard. I'd kind of forgotten how good music can sound! Crazy! One Saturday afternoon, a friend suggested a DAC. I ordered from RS on Saturday night. It arrived on Monday!! Super service, super product! Love it! I can hear guitar delay, rim shots and clear vocals. Such a warm sound. Makes my Spotify subscription worth the money!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High quality compact DAC I bought this DAC primarily to use with the Cambridge CXN transport for CDs. It has comprehensive connectivity and very good sound processing. The three DSP filters produce distinctive effects. It also works well with my 4K TV to create an AV system with B&W P9 speakers. Suitably titanic bass on the latest Blade Runner. Simple to set up and use tho the volume control is slightly quirky! Great value.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Budget DAC I bought a Cambridge DAC Magic Plus in your shop at Bloomsbury. Soon after I got it going with a mini Mac server, Rotel amplifier and Sonus Faber speakers. After a bit of tuning the system up using Audirvana software it works like a dream. I am completely happy with it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Oh, oh, oh it's magic! First off I don't understand the science behind this but I do know that I was not entirely happy with certain aspects of my Hi Fi sound. The friendly chaps at Richer Sounds Kingston and Weybridge did a decent job of explaining the how's and why's and I decided to dive in and purchase the Dac Magic Plus. After living with it for a couple of weeks I can honestly say that there is definite improvement in sound in certain areas. My Cambridge Azur CD player has 1 Wolfson Dac. The Magic has two and I believe I can hear an improvement. Definitely when played loud the sound isn't stretched and distorted as before. Also, as the Magic has a dedicated headphone amp it has massively improved the sound through 'cans'. Again, not so brittle and distorted. Playing my MP3's from my tablet through the BT100 streaming device, (bought seperately), has also given a significant improvement and I now get enjoyment from said files on my Hi Fi due to this boost to the quality. Before, the sound was not really of great fidelity. So, a good product all round, (looks neat too), good price from R.S., And definitely worth a go, especially as you can choose to listen in store.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good all round DAC and headphone Amp Bought The dac in part to improve sound of a 2nd Tele Listening with the headphones. Also use it to improve sound on the cd output of denon m30 mini system. And it does exactly whet meant to. The dac wa bought with the Bluetooth option. The DAC has added advantage of being able to be stood on its side thus reducing real estate. Used the Richer Sounds delivery service to full effect To save a 60 mile round trip

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does a good job Went into my local store to audition soundbars but after a discussion on how my HiFi is set up and positioned and a recommendation from the staff came out with the DAC. I'm using it for two purposes, one to improve the sound of my TV and the stereo imagery and the other an upgrade of my CD player, making it into a CD Transport. The sound quality of the unit is excellent with plenty of inputs 2 optical a USB and a further input for the BT100. Love the flexibility the device gives and the quality of the sound I get from it via the rest of the system. What I miss is a remote control facility but I think good value for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good product I am extremely pleased with my purchase as it is exactly what I wanted and advertised by Richer Sounds.Makes a big difference in sound,I hear things I never knew were even there.I am a professional DJ and am sensitive to even slight quality issues. The Cambridge Audio DAC is a solution to at least mask some of the deficiency and distortion of mp3 sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Purchase,Outstanding Value I bought this Dac Headphone amp a few weeks ago,and now its burned in its playing my Hi res flac files from my pc brilliantly.I first listened through an old pair of sennheiser hd580's straight from the Dac and was impressed.I then hooked it up to my old Luxman L58 integrated amp,and it was really smooth.Cambridge audio have made a great product at a reasonable price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A lot more than expected I purchased the dacmagic plus to achieve a wired connection between my MacBook and amp, as I had connection issues with an airport express. I wasn't expecting a significant improvement in sound, as the airport express is well regarded sound quality wise. What a surprise when I began listening after an easy set-up process. I found a significant improvement immediately, with separation, clarity, and dynamics of the music improved. Bass also has better extension, and the soundstage has more depth too. I've previously used dacs in dedicated hifi systems and the dacmagic plus compares favourably - I think you would need to spend upwards of a £1000 to achieve a significant improvement on it. Excellent product and highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from great value Dac Being used to a great sounding HIFI system consisting of NAIM Audio Pre / power Amplifier and CD player and Shahinian Obelisk Loudspeakers and expensive Cables costing more than the DAC, I was surprised at the sound quality from the Cambridge Audio DAC improving the sound from my XBOX one and Samsung TV. The sound has great Depth and weight and is very musical although not the last word when it comes to detail.
