Featuring Lens Shift and class-leading brightness, the Optoma HD39Darbee makes a big picture even easier to access.

DARBEE Visual Presence for outstanding clarity

For total and professional control of the picture, this HD39 is equipped with DARBEE Visual Presence. It provides greater clarity and increases the perception of depth resulting in a more dynamic, lifelike experience.

Rec.709 for picture brilliance
Colour precision, resolution, frame rate and display specifications are all guaranteed by meeting one of the highest HD video standards seen in professional-grade home cinema today: Rec. 709. Instigated by the ITU (International Telecommunication Union), Rec.709 approval means a true cinema-like appearance.

Lens shift and keystone correction
With lens shift and keystone correction, the HD39Darbee is simple to install. The ability to physically move the lens by up to 17% in the vertical plain means the HD39Darbee can be fitted in more awkward locations and it also enables a wider choice of screen options. The vertical keystone correction offers a digital version of the same thing with a wide adjustment of +/- 40%.

Class-leading brightness
Boasting an outstanding brightness figure of 3500 ANSI Lumens, the HD39Darbee not only offers bright and vivid colours but is also able to be used in many lighting conditions. Even during daylight conditions with curtains or blinds open, the Optoma can produce a watchable and detailed picture – thanks to its sensational brightness.

Pin sharp, 1080p detail from Texas instrument's DLP chip
Using Texas Instrument's DLP technology, this Optoma offers crystal clear clarity, sharply defined images and true, natural colour. Even at larger screen sizes, the detail is astounding and would have once been the preserve of projectors costing many times more. In order to make the most of high definition video sources, the Optoma will also project 1080p Full HD images, making it the perfect match for your Blu-ray player or Full HD gaming device.

Optional 3D
Impressive as the Optoma HD39Darbee is in 2D, it's only when you take advantage of the optional 3D system that the picture becomes truly immersive. Just add the optional Optoma 3D glasses system, connect up to a suitable source and enjoy 3D images that are every bit as bold as at the cinema. Rather than using Infra-Red, the Optoma uses a Radio Frequency (RF) system. This not only reduces the chance of interference but also provides a higher contrast and brighter images. The optional glasses are also fully rechargeable.

HDMI with MHL
With twin HDMI sockets, the Optoma is well equipped to handle your digital sources. The HDMI interface is also compatible with MHL (Mobile High-Definition Link). This lets you connect up a suitable smartphone or tablet to the HDMI socket and watch HD video, at up to 1080p Full HD, from your mobile device, on the big screen!

USB power to drive smart accessories
Featuring a handy USB power output, the HD39Darbee can be used to power USB-powered smart devices, such as the Google’s Chromecast. Plug Chromecast, or similar, in and you’ll have easy access to smart video and TV services without the need for any other device or lengthy connection cables.

Easy to install, watchable in all lightning conditions and with pin-sharp detail – the Optoma HD39Darbee is home-friendly projection at its best.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Picture I bought this to replace a 7 year old "in Focus" DLP projector which had given very good service. The HD39 gives a brilliant picture. I am not sure that I would be able to tell the difference between this and 4K from a 3m viewing distance ( but then I am a very senior citizen). The picture is about 2.5 m diagonal, colour and resolution are brilliant. Obviously blu ray disks are still superior to DVD but even the old DVDs come up a treat. I use it straight out of the box on cinema setting with the bulb on eco mode. The fan noise is negligible in my opinion. The 3D function is outstanding; buy a cheap pair (£15 quid) of dlp link glasses from an on line retailer and you're away , straight out of the box, no extras needed no fiddling with setting, Avatar leaps from the screen. Used it to watch F1 racing using the second input. The picture looked amazing. I still prefer to extract the sound before going into the projector and feed it through the Hi Fi system. The on board speaker is exactly what you would expect; ok for testing things out but not really for adequate for big films. Adjusting the picture placement is easy; a combination of on board lens shift and the adjustable feet meant that could position the picture exactly where I wanted it without needing the keyhole adjustment feature. I bought on line and collected it from the Solihull branch , as always very helpful and efficient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice bright picture Bought this upgrading from my 10 year old projector which at the time was top of the line, did not need full 4K as we mainly use catch-up Tv and older DVDs which are lower res.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Big screen thrill at a budget price Overview Upgrade from Benq W1400 purchased spring 2015. Nicely shipped and packaged in a compact box. No extras included, but, extras are available from the manufacturer for a price. Install Clean and straight forward menu. Vertical and horizontal keystone correction with manual vertical lens shift and image shift and digital zoom options. Various test grids to assist image alignment during setup and customised image options to suit the environment the unit is going to be used in. Projector is used to provide images onto a 106in fixed frame Sapphire screen at a distance of 3.5 metres. Throw ratio is not as good as the Benq which was able to provide the same image at 3 metres and the additional image correction settings (if needed) could frustrate first time buyers when using the ceiling mount configuration. Image, sound & operation Images are bright and vivid but I suggest settings are tweaked depending on the environment. Watching Sky, blu-ray and apps through chromecast ultra does not disappoint with images been smooth, detailed, colourful and sharp. Blacks are slightly grey but using the DARBEE option enhances the overall visual experience. The on-board speakers are fine for general listening but it is assumed this unit would be used as part of a full range speaker setup or equivalent. To reduce fan noise I'd advise eco setting otherwise the fan is noisey and repeatedly kicks-in, in an attempt to keep the unit cool. The unit powers up quickly and shut down is just as quick. The remote is back lit and layout is simple. Safety Unit does run hotter than previous projectors I've owned and can smell at first. Power cord does not seat in the terminal fully and at point of installing the cord slipped and fuse had to be replaced as a result of poor connection and shorting. I advise anyone considering purchasing this projector with a view to use it as a ceiling mount configuration to secure power cord with a cable tie so as to support and take some weight of the power cord to keep the cabled seated correctly. Please see image. Extras Lens cap, carry case and 3D glasses are all available as optional extras from the manufacturer. Wireless extra can also be purchased to minimise cabling. It is a disappointment that Optoma do not supply a lens cap and carry case for those who may use the unit in various locations, but it is worth noting this projector is aimed at those using the product as a home cinema and gaming visual source so I presume most owners and potential buyers will be looking to have the projector as part of a fixed install. A pair of 3D glasses considering the price point would be a nice touch though. W1400 is supplied with carry case, 3D glasses and lens cap for a similar price. Summary A compact, clean and simple design complements clear, HD images that won't disappoint. Connectivity and optional extras should be plentyful for most people at this price point. The Optoma HD39 is a great all rounder which should provide the whole family hours of full HD viewing. If you're prepared to fiddle with the additional screen settings and are mindful of the need to secure the power cord when ceiling mounting the unit, then this projector ensures you will find it hard not to resist loading a disc, firing up your amp and ordering Domino's pizza whenever you can.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from simply perfect ! ... well almost Fabulous projector, the picture quality is great in tv/ film and games . Even in ambient lighting . Very simple to use and set up .cant see why anyone would need anything els . Richer sounds service and help with selecting the projector was also great I felt they really went the extra mile .(please note I’ve not tested the sound quality as I have a 5.1 set up ) Only one gripe with the projector is it would be nice if it had left to right keystone movement . Not just up and down . Meaning you have to get it fairly central to the screen , when looking for a joist to fix to this isn’t always easy .

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love it. Nothing short of awesome. Bright, colourful cinema experience at home. I dont have a TV, this does just fine with a 300cm equivalent screen size. Alright the speaker isnt great but who buys a home cinema projector and uses the onboard speaker? With a half decent sound setup the whole package is totally immersive.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Stunning detail. Optoma HD39 Darbee, If you have not seen one workin you are missing out, I really didn't expect it to be this good, I'm projecting onto a plain white painted wall 3.3mtrs approx and it's giving me a picture of 50 inch tall by 90 inch wide. Stunning detail, so pleased I got this. I've got my own cinema now.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up, super picture After some fantastic advice from the salesman I decided to go with the Optoma DLP. The unit was smaller than expected and easy to set up. The internal speakers produced reasonable sound and the picture quality was fab!!!
