With a great range of recording and playback features, the Humax HDR1800T 320GB delivers superb value entertainment for less.

Your favourite TV in glorious HD

With free access to High Definition channels, the Humax HDR1800T is the perfect partner for your HD TV. In addition to free HD channels from the BBC, ITV and Channel 4, the Humax will still receive the usual standard Freeview TV and radio services, so you don't miss out on your existing channels. Quite simply it's High Definition TV through your standard aerial for free!

Built-in PVR for recording
There's also a built-in 320GB hard drive. This will record up to 200 hours of standard TV or 75 hours of HD TV, and lets you buffer - perfect for watching a programme from the beginning while it's still recording. The same facility also lets you pause live TV, while twin tuners let you watch a different channel to the one you're recording or record two channels at the same time! As you'd expect, there's an easy to use 8-day onscreen guide.

Connection options
With HDMI, SCART and composite outputs, the Humax HDR-1800T will connect to just about any TV. Want to plug the HDR-1800T through your hi-fi or home cinema? It's simple via its RCA phono and optical digital outputs. A USB socket allows you to plug in external hard drives or memory sticks and playback your saved media. With the Ethernet socket you can also plug the HDR-1800T into your home network and take advantage of network updates and web apps.

Humax TV Portal
Connect up to the internet via Ethernet or an optional USB dongle and you'll be able to access the Humax TV Portal. This provides a range of services, including the popular BBC iPlayer, plus internet radio.

Compact too
At just 320mm wide, this set-top box is compact and unobtrusive. Humax has also put a lot of effort into making it easy to use. A simple search function makes it simple to find the programme you're after, while the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) is a model of clarity and very straight forward to follow.

Fully comprehensive yet easy to use, the Humax HDR-1800T is the ideal introduction to subscription-free HD TV.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Poor quality. Prefer my old Humax I had my old basic Humax Freeview box for over 10 years and the hard drive was starting to play up so I bought an 1800T as I only need basic functionality. There's no display on the box giving time and/or channel and/or recording notification, which means I have to turn the TV on to find radio channels, and it can only record one programme if you are watching another (or two programmes if you're not watching anything) whereas the old one could record two whilst watching a third. There are also loads of other little inconveniences compared with my original box which makes day to day use a bit of a pain. Then a day after setting it up it refused to work at all so I had to replace it. The second box came with a faulty HDMI lead but luckily I had a spare one so I'm using that instead. I'm not expecting it to last anywhere near as long as my old Humax as the technology and the build quality seem flimsy.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything I need £140 (£154 with a 6 year guarantee, I chose this option, let's be honest, why wouldn't you). Record on 2 Freeview/Freeview HD channels at once while you watch from the hard drive. Records 200 hours SD or 80 hours HD. Easy to navigate menus and very responsive. 10/10, I have no complaints after 2 weeks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from HUMAX HDR 1800T 320GB The product is excellent up to now, no faults at present quick response on remote, records two programmers at once, whist viewing a third I just love it as a lot of my time is the garden and without this I would miss a lot of programmers.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SPEEDY DELIVERY having previously bought an incorrect Humax box from another company I was persuaded to look at Richer Sounds. I have not been disappointed! A knowledgeable friend - who uses RS often - recommended you and I bought online from your website. It arrived the following day, on the free delivery method! Now installed I am learning how to use it and am delighted with all I can now do. I had been using a paid TV box but could not longer avoid the increasing monthly payment, but I can do all I did before; in particular pause, rewind and record. Since I often fall asleep it is invaluable, enabling me to see the end of a film or episode. Thank you.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good with caveats Instructions not overly clear. Text refers to STOP button but no indication on diagram of what or where it is.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy Set-up, Simple to use. Great for the Elderly My son bought this for me (his mother) as I didn't need one of these over complicated TV and broadband packages which I had used for several years now to great frustration. Instead for next to nothing he bought me a Humax. Simple to set-up. Easy to read instructions. Clear and simple to use channel change. Ideal for the Elderly who do not need an over complicated system when they simply want access to Freeview channels and to record programmes or a whole series. It also means there are less things to go wrong and no more phone calls to the TV & broadband package provider when things often went ary!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple to use I wanted to replace my hard drive tv recorder and after a shaky start I am now very pleased with my purchase. When I first connected it up and turned on my tv in standalone mode the tv lost it's aerial signal however if the box is set to 'rf loopthrough in standby' during the set up procedure this problem is solved. The next issue for me was that there was no sound. A phone call to Humax suggested this was due to a hdmi handshake issue with my tv for which they'd released a software patch. As I don't have internet access at home, they recommended returning it to Richer Sounds where I'd bought it. Whilst this was not very convenient, the lovely staff there sorted it out for me within a couple of hours. The instruction book overcomplicates things but the remote and the on screen menus make it easy to use. It is easy to select programmes to record and it can do two at the same time. The guide lets you keep track of the channel you are watching as it maintains the sound and shows a small picture whilst you search for future programmes using +1hour, +2 hours or + 1 day. A novel feature for me was the 'find' button which allows you to enter a keyword( eg vet) and the guide then suggests all the programmes with that word in the title. Selecting programmes to watch is easy and the programme information is available for the recorded programmes. You can skip through a recording in speeds from x2 to x32. Negative points are that it is slow to wake up: it takes over half a minute to go from standby mode to displaying a picture when turned on. It doesn't do slowmotion and the subtitles do not synch with the recordings.
