"The latest version of the long-running Debut remains a winner. Recommended." What Hi-Fi Sound & Vision magazine 5-star review.

Engineering from a class above

For some time now, the Pro-Ject Debut has been a near default choice in the budget turntable market - and for good reason. Rather than adding fancy automated mechanisms, Pro-Ject has always concentrated on giving the best engineering quality possible for the money. Following on from other award-winning Pro-Ject Debut turntables, the Debut Carbon DC offers a stunning specification with sound quality to match.

Carbon fibre tone-arm
The key feature with the Debut Carbon is the addition of a carbon fibre tone-arm tube. Usually only found on much more expensive turntables, a carbon fibre tone-arm tube provides significant benefits to the sound quality. Being stiffer than steel, the tone arm is more rigid. This helps convey the music more accurately as there's also reduced arm resonance. In short, the music sounds tighter, punchier and more detailed than before.

Tweaks taken from the SE model
The revised Debut Carbon comes with a larger and more stable platter, providing a more solid bass response with added weight, while improved motor dampening using Sorbothane helps give better isolation. In terms of sound quality, isolating the motor means less background noise and a more dynamic and revealing sound.

Engineered for purity of sound
The rigid plinth with anti-vibration feet is ideal in providing a similarly taut sound quality. The motor itself is decoupled to further reduce vibration. Using a brass bearing housing and stainless steel axle, the platter hub is superbly engineered and built to close tolerances for fine sound and longevity. There's also a good quality Ortofon cartridge included, so it's ready to go straight out of the box.

Updated styling
With its gloss black plinth, the Debut Carbon looks far classier than previous Debut III models. Combined with its high quality engineering, this Pro-Ject turntable really does give the impression that it comes from the class above.

For quality vinyl replay, pure and simple, there's nothing to beat the Debut Carbon DC at this price.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Noisy and finickity Endless adjustments to try to prevent skipping, skating, noise over the years since I bought mine. Bought replacement cartridges, followed forums, took clued up friends advice. In the end, though I had a lot of good times when it was behaving, I wouldn't recommend this model.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple, sophisticated, easy to setup, sounds great Looking for a good quality turntable that looks great for a newly decorated room. The plan was to keep it minimalistic in style, but I had to have a record deck, so chose this Pro-Ject DC. Really simple to set-up. Together with the Project-MM pre-amp it connects straight into our SONOS Five, no setup required and now we can use the deck to play in all the rooms in the house. Preferable to the 'SONOS' version of the Pro-Ject DC as it doesn't have the lights and buttons on the top surface - much cleaner looking, performs the same, and costs less.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, sleek and simple design I bought it to replace a 90's turntable, and the clarity and quality of the sound is just amazing. I like the simple and sleek design too, quite stylish. Definitely reccomend it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely delighted Spent days doing research and comparing everything on offer and googling myself stupid and finally decided on the Project. So happy I did. Easy to set up and the sleek looks and amazing clarity of the sound from the Ortifon stylus made me incredibly happy and satisfied, would recommend it to anyone.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect 1st Turntable Got this in the recent sale for £279 which was a great price. It is the first turntable I've owned so I don't have much to compare it to but it is everything I needed. Easy to setup and sounds great, I would highly recommend it

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Turntable I bought this turntable at the same time as purchasing a network stereo receiver & speaker set when replacing an old Technics hifi (23 years old) & Sony turntable. This Pro-Ject feels and sounds good quality for it's price and is very quiet when running/spinning. We've paired it up with the Denon DRA800H network stereo receiver (Black) & speakers (Dali Spektor 2 Speaker Pair) bought as a package guided by Laurence (Hull Branch) was worth every penny, the advice given was great and so useful, Many Many thanks.
