”This is the most affordable amp Audiolab has produced in recent years, and also one of its most capable, confident and competitive efforts.”– ‘What Hi-Fi’ – 5 Star review. Tested at £599

The flexible amp – for all your sources

With four digital and three line level analogue inputs, the 6000A is equipped to handle even the largest systems. Added to this there’s also an input for you turntable plus wireless Bluetooth connectivity – taking the input total to nine sources. Pre out/power in connections enhance future upgrading potential. Prefer to listen in private? Then take advantage of the dedicated, high quality headphone output.

Plug in your TV and games console
Featuring a top quality ESS SABRE32 DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) at its heart, the 6000A is perfect for getting the best sound from your digital sources. Twin optical and coaxial input let you hook up your TV, CD, Blu-ray/DVD and games console. Once connected, you not only benefit from the Audiolab’s award-winning amp tech but also the reference quality digital electronics – giving amazing clarity and detail.

Bluetooth your smartphone
For quick and easy connectivity with your smartphone, simply use the Bluetooth link. Ideal for smartphones, tablets and laptops with Bluetooth, this wireless connection gives easy access to music stored on your phone and music streaming services, such as Spotify, Tidal and Deezer.

And not forgetting your turntable
With all its digital connections, the 6000A still hasn’t forgotten about your analogue sources. As well as three line level inputs, there’s also a handy turntable input for decks with a MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge. The high quality, low noise phono pre-amp delivers a full-bodied balance that does justice to the warmth and depth of vinyl sound.

Award-winning Audiolab sound
Using a substantial power supply, the 6000A has plenty of grunt. The Class AB amp produces 50 watts per channel, giving effortless, room-filling sound. The pre-amp section of the amp uses independent, low noise power supplies at critical stages – reducing distortion and increasing the detail. Like all Audiolab amplifiers, the 6000A ‘tells it like it is’ and gives possibly the most lifelike sound of any amp in its class.

Excellent sound for your headphones
Incorporating a dedicated headphone amp with current-feedback circuitry, the 6000A makes the ideal driver for your headphones. Dynamic and detailed sounding, the 6000A’s headphone amp is a big step-up on most amps. It also offers ample power, so it drives even the most current-hungry ‘phones.

Don’t leave any of your music out – listen to it all, with the Audiolab 6000A.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful UK built Stereo Amp I did tonnes of research after adding the AT-LP5 to my existing system, in 2017, for an integrated amp with a reasonable good Phono Stage. Time and again the choices were narrowing down between a Denon mid-level amp & Marantz 6006. Though I'm happy with my Denon HT Receiver, i was not sold on testing the Denon. Marantz 6006 seemed to be "colouring" the purity of the vinyl output, though it was sounding great with my 6006 CD player. More research was called for, with an upward revision of budget! The the option shifted between Rega Brio, Audiolab 6000A and a few others. With escalation of budget I wanted something "Extra" over and above what the less expensive models offered. And that extra came down to a built-in DAC of superior capabilities. Audiolab being a producer of extremely good DACs, i homed in on the 6000A. As mentioned in several reviews & also on the homepage, this is a wonderfully minimalist piece. Sleek, clean and built like a tank! Right now it's still in the process of being run-in, hence I've not used the digital inputs yet. Coming to analogue, the Phono Stage is surprisingly clean and warm, even after just a few hours of use. I started with the least expensive MM Cartridge i had - Rega Carbon ( which is not among the audiophile grade by any stretch of imagination ). the 6000A surprised me even then, with loads of detail, a reasonably wide soundstage, rock-solid voice anchoring and almost perfect placement of instruments from Clapton's Slowhand at 70 album. The guitar came across strong but sweetly in the acoustic section and Eric's voice carried the perfect time and texture. The sound has become sweeter after about 3 sessions & i would soon upgrade the turntable with mid-end cartridges, to hear the difference. Input via the analog outputs of the Marantz CD6006 was, as expected, brighter and to some extent, more forward. This too should change soo, i presume. Width was perceptibly expanded with CD. However, I'm still not happy with the vocals ( mid-range ) via this mode. Overall, the 6000A sounds way more powerful and punchy than the specs would like to convey. All the INs & OUTs are of very high quality. Both facia borne controls and the remote work as promised. The remote, incidentally, mirrors the design and build of the amp - sleek, surefooted and solid. To sum up, i am happy for having looked beyond the 400 pound budget. I am certain that in a week's time the Audiolab 6000A will deliver ever sweeter sound and I'll finally have a go at its superb DAC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent open sound Simple, back to basics British amp with excellent DAC. Produces a very clear, detailed and 'open' sound stage. It may be a little bright for some, so choose your speakers carefully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does all I hoped for Used through the pre out of my Denon receiver for High resolution sound. Works perfectly and sounds great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What have I been missing? 6000A manages to separate the various components of complex sound so much better than other amplifiers I have used or tested over the years. Can be slightly bright, but generally superb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything one needs it to do ..... .... and does it well. My prior amplifier was a bells & whistles Yamaha, and I thought it was a good performer. It died at 5 and a half years old. In thinking of a replacement, I realised I hadn't used half of the functions I was so taken by initially. So I auditioned one of these, amongst a handful of others. First, its simplicity is sublime - 3 knobs, MM phono stage, onboard DAC of high quality, and enough analogue inputs for most set ups. And Bluetooth is so useful, for general listening, or even to get radio (phone or taplet app). Then there's the noise it makes my Monitor Audio floorstanders generate. I hadn't realised how much I was missing from the Yamaha, or frankly how dull it was. All of a sudden, recordings I often listen to have more life, more "oomph" (and more bass - sorry neighbours!) And it's well screwed together - inspires confidence as to its longevity (more than 5 years please).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid build, well balanced sound. I wanted to get back in the hifi game after several years now that kids have grown up. I wanted a new stereo amp to pair up with my B&W DM602 S3 after being given second advice by store staff and had the amp demo'd. Reading reviews online is one thing but there is nothing better than in-store demo and great staff advice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money well spent! I've been itching for a new amp for a while now. My Rotel pre-power combo, much as I love it, was holding my speakers back. (Modded Mission 752F, fyi). Plugged this little boy in, and was immediately blown away. Bass is firm and now hits me in the chest, the treble is superb, nice, airy and open (as opposed to the comparatively flat, 2-dimensional delivery of the Rotels), and the overall balance is what I can only describe as "right". I can see thin or bright-sounding speakers could be an issue- as has been common with Audiolab amps like forever- but that is certainly not the case for me. The 752Fs can get a little thick at the low end sometimes, so this amp works nicely to keep a grip on those woofers. The digital connectivity is also a large bonus, as I've freed up my DacMagic+ to use on the PC! Very happy with my purchase, and the shop crew were brilliant, as they always are. (Served by Fred). See you in a few months when I spuriously decide to buy something else...
