”This is the most affordable amp Audiolab has produced in recent years, and also one of its most capable, confident and competitive efforts.”– ‘What Hi-Fi’ – 5 Star review. Tested at £599

The flexible amp – for all your sources

With four digital and three line level analogue inputs, the 6000A is equipped to handle even the largest systems. Added to this there’s also an input for you turntable plus wireless Bluetooth connectivity – taking the input total to nine sources. Pre out/power in connections enhance future upgrading potential. Prefer to listen in private? Then take advantage of the dedicated, high quality headphone output.

Plug in your TV and games console
Featuring a top quality ESS SABRE32 DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) at its heart, the 6000A is perfect for getting the best sound from your digital sources. Twin optical and coaxial input let you hook up your TV, CD, Blu-ray/DVD and games console. Once connected, you not only benefit from the Audiolab’s award-winning amp tech but also the reference quality digital electronics – giving amazing clarity and detail.

Bluetooth your smartphone
For quick and easy connectivity with your smartphone, simply use the Bluetooth link. Ideal for smartphones, tablets and laptops with Bluetooth, this wireless connection gives easy access to music stored on your phone and music streaming services, such as Spotify, Tidal and Deezer.

And not forgetting your turntable
With all its digital connections, the 6000A still hasn’t forgotten about your analogue sources. As well as three line level inputs, there’s also a handy turntable input for decks with a MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge. The high quality, low noise phono pre-amp delivers a full-bodied balance that does justice to the warmth and depth of vinyl sound.

Award-winning Audiolab sound
Using a substantial power supply, the 6000A has plenty of grunt. The Class AB amp produces 50 watts per channel, giving effortless, room-filling sound. The pre-amp section of the amp uses independent, low noise power supplies at critical stages – reducing distortion and increasing the detail. Like all Audiolab amplifiers, the 6000A ‘tells it like it is’ and gives possibly the most lifelike sound of any amp in its class.

Excellent sound for your headphones
Incorporating a dedicated headphone amp with current-feedback circuitry, the 6000A makes the ideal driver for your headphones. Dynamic and detailed sounding, the 6000A’s headphone amp is a big step-up on most amps. It also offers ample power, so it drives even the most current-hungry ‘phones.

Don’t leave any of your music out – listen to it all, with the Audiolab 6000A.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from much better sound I recently bought a Brennan B2 and have been 'digitalising' all my CDs. My previous amp didn't have any optical connections which the Audiolab 6000A does. The improvement in sound from being able to use B2's optical output to the Audiolab DAC is amazing. It is a really good amp for the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 5 Star Integrated Amplifier I bought this amp last month to replace to upgrade from my Marantz PM6005. The improvement in the sound quality clarity and bass is remarkable and makes the amplifier worth every single penny. Being compatible with both analogue and digital sources makes it a must for me. The lack of fuss in the visual detail and just a basic volume control are also plus points. A perfect companion for my b2 Brennan which now sounds better than ever. All positive, no negatives from me.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant performance from digital sources I bought this amp because I wanted something to connect to my Sonos connect, as a bit of an upgrade. the inbuilt DAC means that I can get really good results via a digital connection to the Sonos. Also really impressed by the Bluetooth connection, which is great when friends come over. For those wanting to connect analogue inputs, there is a decent selection, including a MM stage for turntables. All the positive reviews are well justified. Highly recommended

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fabulous amp! I bought this to replace my Audiolab 8000a workhorse that I've used since 1995. Everything about it is a step up from that incredible amp. I'm a recent convert to streaming, and it is so easy to stream my Bandcamp and Amazon Music purchases on it. However, I still buy most of my music on physical releases, and my vinyl and CD's sound excellent through it. Highly recommended.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Build faults and weird sound Firstly the build faults: 1. One of the optical ports broke on inserting a cable, resulting in it being unusable. Apparently this is common with these amps. 2. Very quickly the headphone socket caused a scratchy "white noise" soun to be heard, that appeared and disappearing on rotating the headphone jack. I tried three different jacks with the same result each time. 3. Other people around the net report a fairly loud hum from the transformer. Seems it's a lottery as to whether you get this. I didn't. Now to the sound (this is subjective of course): Using inputs from a Rega turntable, 80s CD player, TV through optical cable, and bluetooth from phone and laptop, outputting to Wharfedale Diamond 220 speakers, the sound was completely weird. Hard to describe but it was metallic, digital sounding with, yes, detail I'd never heard before, but this was all over the place frequency-wise, with key elements of favorite tracks muffled. For instance a Turkish psych tune heavily reliant on bass sounded thin and weak; while Lou Reed's Satellite of love had Bowie's backing vocals seemingly edited out. I could go on with more examples. The three filters are annoying - I found myself endlessly cycling through them trying to improve the sound to no avail. The same weirdness was heard through both speakers and headphones. In particular the "fast" filter was totally crazy, good for making aggressive rap tracks sound immensely scary, but not much else. I've reinstated my Kenwood amp that probably came from an 80s Argos catalogue, using Fiio DAC to take optical from the TV, and things are good now with the Audiolab sent back for a refund. Turns out all I needed to do to fix my audio setup was get the Wharfedale speakers, which I did at the same time as getting the Audiolab. An "audiophile" on youtube told me my sources were poor, to investigate higher quality speaker cable an to isolate all equipment from wifi interference, but I think he was just trying to flog things from affiliate links on his website. I do not believe speaker wire makes much of a difference, and I've never heard of wifi interference. Certainly not a problem with my old Kenwood.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Friendly, helpful and not pushy. I bought an audiolab CD player and amp, with speakers at the Newcastle branch and found the whole experience very pleasant. I also had to return there a few days later (due to my own stupid fault) am since more the service was excellent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Music makes a return! Great performance. Ensure ancillary items, speakers, turntable etc are ‘up to scratch’ for best output. Instructions document could be improved, but not a major problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sound clarity Upgraded my ARCAM & Monitor Audio kit for Audiolab & Dali Oberon 5s. Really, really pleased I did. Simple as that. Sound appears punchier , quicker & sharper (but NOT harsh).
