”This is the most affordable amp Audiolab has produced in recent years, and also one of its most capable, confident and competitive efforts.”– ‘What Hi-Fi’ – 5 Star review. Tested at £599

The flexible amp – for all your sources

With four digital and three line level analogue inputs, the 6000A is equipped to handle even the largest systems. Added to this there’s also an input for you turntable plus wireless Bluetooth connectivity – taking the input total to nine sources. Pre out/power in connections enhance future upgrading potential. Prefer to listen in private? Then take advantage of the dedicated, high quality headphone output.

Plug in your TV and games console
Featuring a top quality ESS SABRE32 DAC (Digital to Analogue Convertor) at its heart, the 6000A is perfect for getting the best sound from your digital sources. Twin optical and coaxial input let you hook up your TV, CD, Blu-ray/DVD and games console. Once connected, you not only benefit from the Audiolab’s award-winning amp tech but also the reference quality digital electronics – giving amazing clarity and detail.

Bluetooth your smartphone
For quick and easy connectivity with your smartphone, simply use the Bluetooth link. Ideal for smartphones, tablets and laptops with Bluetooth, this wireless connection gives easy access to music stored on your phone and music streaming services, such as Spotify, Tidal and Deezer.

And not forgetting your turntable
With all its digital connections, the 6000A still hasn’t forgotten about your analogue sources. As well as three line level inputs, there’s also a handy turntable input for decks with a MM (Moving Magnet) cartridge. The high quality, low noise phono pre-amp delivers a full-bodied balance that does justice to the warmth and depth of vinyl sound.

Award-winning Audiolab sound
Using a substantial power supply, the 6000A has plenty of grunt. The Class AB amp produces 50 watts per channel, giving effortless, room-filling sound. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Music makes a return! Great performance. Ensure ancillary items, speakers, turntable etc are ‘up to scratch’ for best output. Instructions document could be improved, but not a major problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sound clarity Upgraded my ARCAM & Monitor Audio kit for Audiolab & Dali Oberon 5s. Really, really pleased I did. Simple as that. Sound appears punchier , quicker & sharper (but NOT harsh).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Audiolab Bought with 6000CDT and 6000N all up and running. Impressed with detail not often heard before - bass response is excellent thanks to my vintage Goodmans Magnum Ks. Online help was very good. Delivery - next day! Saw the system review in BBC Music Magazine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Decision The Audiolab 6000A/6000CDT combination is simply superlative. The soundstage and precision, dynamic attack and scale really invigorates your CD collection. The transport digs out the detail and the amplifier does it justice.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, let down by a few details. I bought this to replace an aging Marantz PM350. I needed more inputs, wanted a remote and as I was replacing a broken CD drive at the same time it made sense to look for a matching system. In the end it was a comparison between Cambridge Audio and Audiolab. I went for the latter based on reviews and the wide range of inputs available. The product was incredibly well packaged, and build quality looks good. Being black every mark shows so have clean hands and dust your rack! Sound is great, no qualms sonically, but I am no audiophile. There were a few hiccups. Firstly on both the CD transport and the amp there are NO batteries included for the remotes despite the instructions saying they are included. RS are aware of this. Secondly there is an undocumented Menu option for PLL. No mention of it in the instructions, which are a bit thin to say the least. Finally, sadly as with many optical devices, the cover flap on the digital optical input only lasted 5 minutes and broke off. Very annoying as I did expect something better and I cannot see a way to fix it. Otherwise I am pleased so despite these niggles I have given it 5 stars but do do your own research. Finally a mention of Conor who was so helpful when I ordered this and the CDT via the central telesales. As one now expects from RS staff, he had first rate knowledge of the product and was able to advise on things I had forgotten, such as leads etc. Thankyou!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb Bought this to replace a very old Audiolab 8000. 10/10 Audiolab this sounds great with the added Bluetooth I don’t think you can go wrong

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing sound and great features I bought this a few weeks ago and I've been blown away by it. I was worried it might underpowered but it's really not. Bluetooth works brilliantly and it was very easy to set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound Upgraded from an Arcam Alpha 6 plus which had finally come to the end of its life. Audiolab is a LOT more detailed and open in comparison, possibly at the expense of a little warmth. But overall a far superior amp. Matched with B&W speakers and Arcam CD player. Many thanks to Shaun at the Bromley branch for some excellent advice (over the phone during lockdown!) in getting the right match.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Better than expected Was unsure at first, as this replaced an ageing Sony tuner amp with surround etc., but needn't have worried as it is a deceptively simple set-up and produces a warm and punchy sound

Rated 5 out of 5 by from audiolab 6000A bought this amp after reading many reviews and so glad i did as the sound quality is superb coupled with the new stylus and speaker wire it has just put my system to the next level very happy with purchase and would recommend this amp to anybody that is looking at upgrading

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I didn't think it was possible to be this happy This amp along with the new speakers I bought is an absolute dream. Super easy to set up, has an input for everything you could possibly need including blue tooth and sound phenomenal!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Incredible! Highly recommend without hesitation... Took the plunge and bought this to replace a 15 year old Cambridge 540 A amp bought from RIcher Sounds 15 years ago... Felt extravagant as this wasn't my main system but the amp certainly needed an upgrade and knowing that I'd use this a lot more from now on, thought I could justify it. After all, I've never once regretted making a music purchase, whatever level of investment that required. Much research was undertaken however and the budget was soon increased slightly to £600 as I saw this amp and immediately fell in love with it, albeit virtually... Without prior testing but thanks to numerous positive reviews published throughout the internet and with confidence instilled, decided to buy it online with Newcastle Richer Sounds. Absolutely amazing sound and so much improved on my old amp/ system. Admittedly, I have upgraded the speaker wire and connectors too but felt this level of amp warranted a little nurturing. The entire improved package has resulted in a truly incredible sound, providing a dynamism and clarity that were otherwise unknown. If my previous system offered 2D sound, metaphorically, this new set up offers 3D in abundance... The one area that I was slightly disappointed with (which was one of my main purchasing criteria), was the standard of the in-built bluetooth option - it doesn't offer the level of volume, detail etc that I'd expected. I do however have other options thanks to USB and a separate bluetooth connection so it's not really a problem and I don't mind. Ultimately, if this amp offered just 1 connection option, at this price, it is still worthy of anyone's money. Still no regrets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound. I purchased this to replace another amp purchased a year ago from a different manufacturer which in my opinion lacked Bass and at times sounded harsh. Having only had this a week the improvement was instant better Bass with improved vocals and sound balance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Superb build quality and sound What fantastic sound,so chear and sharp the 6000a has breathed new life into music. The sound quality from the TV is a revelation compaired to my old Denon PMA 350 which I always considered fine.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything I want it to superbly. I have not had the amp for long however it was easy to set up and works brilliantly with my turntable, and the Audiolab 6000cdt. All the functions work well and the sound quality is superb. A step up from my 30 odd year old Arcam amp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Upgrade Bought this amp as an upgrade option from my Cambridge Audio AM10 and the difference is startling. A far more detailed sound with a broader range. I am hearing things in music that I am really familiar with that I haven’t picked up on before. Would recommend this amp without hesitation.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent upgrade at a great price The reviews are correct. This is an excellent amplifier and works beautifully with the matching 6000CDT. Together they have breathed new life into my 17 year old Monitor Audio Silver S6 floorstanders - much more space and detail than the previous combination (Arcam A80 and CD72) and also extracted decent sounds from the TV via new optical cable. Paddy and Jono at RS Oxford were helpful guides. Great result overall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Wonderful UK built Stereo Amp I did tonnes of research after adding the AT-LP5 to my existing system, in 2017, for an integrated amp with a reasonable good Phono Stage. Time and again the choices were narrowing down between a Denon mid-level amp & Marantz 6006. Though I'm happy with my Denon HT Receiver, i was not sold on testing the Denon. Marantz 6006 seemed to be "colouring" the purity of the vinyl output, though it was sounding great with my 6006 CD player. More research was called for, with an upward revision of budget! The the option shifted between Rega Brio, Audiolab 6000A and a few others. With escalation of budget I wanted something "Extra" over and above what the less expensive models offered. And that extra came down to a built-in DAC of superior capabilities. Audiolab being a producer of extremely good DACs, i homed in on the 6000A. As mentioned in several reviews & also on the homepage, this is a wonderfully minimalist piece. Sleek, clean and built like a tank! Right now it's still in the process of being run-in, hence I've not used the digital inputs yet. Coming to analogue, the Phono Stage is surprisingly clean and warm, even after just a few hours of use. I started with the least expensive MM Cartridge i had - Rega Carbon ( which is not among the audiophile grade by any stretch of imagination ). the 6000A surprised me even then, with loads of detail, a reasonably wide soundstage, rock-solid voice anchoring and almost perfect placement of instruments from Clapton's Slowhand at 70 album. The guitar came across strong but sweetly in the acoustic section and Eric's voice carried the perfect time and texture. The sound has become sweeter after about 3 sessions & i would soon upgrade the turntable with mid-end cartridges, to hear the difference. Input via the analog outputs of the Marantz CD6006 was, as expected, brighter and to some extent, more forward. This too should change soo, i presume. Width was perceptibly expanded with CD. However, I'm still not happy with the vocals ( mid-range ) via this mode. Overall, the 6000A sounds way more powerful and punchy than the specs would like to convey. All the INs & OUTs are of very high quality. Both facia borne controls and the remote work as promised. The remote, incidentally, mirrors the design and build of the amp - sleek, surefooted and solid. To sum up, i am happy for having looked beyond the 400 pound budget. I am certain that in a week's time the Audiolab 6000A will deliver ever sweeter sound and I'll finally have a go at its superb DAC.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent open sound Simple, back to basics British amp with excellent DAC. Produces a very clear, detailed and 'open' sound stage. It may be a little bright for some, so choose your speakers carefully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What have I been missing? 6000A manages to separate the various components of complex sound so much better than other amplifiers I have used or tested over the years. Can be slightly bright, but generally superb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does everything one needs it to do ..... .... and does it well. My prior amplifier was a bells & whistles Yamaha, and I thought it was a good performer. It died at 5 and a half years old. In thinking of a replacement, I realised I hadn't used half of the functions I was so taken by initially. So I auditioned one of these, amongst a handful of others. First, its simplicity is sublime - 3 knobs, MM phono stage, onboard DAC of high quality, and enough analogue inputs for most set ups. And Bluetooth is so useful, for general listening, or even to get radio (phone or taplet app). Then there's the noise it makes my Monitor Audio floorstanders generate. I hadn't realised how much I was missing from the Yamaha, or frankly how dull it was. All of a sudden, recordings I often listen to have more life, more "oomph" (and more bass - sorry neighbours!) And it's well screwed together - inspires confidence as to its longevity (more than 5 years please).

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Solid build, well balanced sound. I wanted to get back in the hifi game after several years now that kids have grown up. I wanted a new stereo amp to pair up with my B&W DM602 S3 after being given second advice by store staff and had the amp demo'd. Reading reviews online is one thing but there is nothing better than in-store demo and great staff advice!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Money well spent! I've been itching for a new amp for a while now. My Rotel pre-power combo, much as I love it, was holding my speakers back. (Modded Mission 752F, fyi). Plugged this little boy in, and was immediately blown away. Bass is firm and now hits me in the chest, the treble is superb, nice, airy and open (as opposed to the comparatively flat, 2-dimensional delivery of the Rotels), and the overall balance is what I can only describe as "right". I can see thin or bright-sounding speakers could be an issue- as has been common with Audiolab amps like forever- but that is certainly not the case for me. The 752Fs can get a little thick at the low end sometimes, so this amp works nicely to keep a grip on those woofers. The digital connectivity is also a large bonus, as I've freed up my DacMagic+ to use on the PC! Very happy with my purchase, and the shop crew were brilliant, as they always are. (Served by Fred). See you in a few months when I spuriously decide to buy something else...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best ever sound I bought a CD player record deck amplifier and headphones. I didn't expect it to be much different to my older one,boy was I wrong it's so clear ànd crisp sound. We've always bought from richer sounds over 40 years and never been disappointed. The aftercare is good they make sure you like what you've bought and it's working properly. Very good old fashioned company highly recommended.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from smooth and clean Upgraded this amp from a nad 7050d to the audiolab 6000a and 6000n and the combination is a step up, smooth and clean sounding with plenty of reserve power to make most people happy. Maybe not as analytical and resolving as my nad which is a direct digital class D. This little beast (audiolab 6000a) has a wider, smoother, stereo image that digs deeps at the highs and lows with great mid range performance. I've complemented the receiver with a power subwoofers which integrates well with my kef ls50s which are not the most efficient speaker's in the world, the amp has plenty of power to control the speakers, infact more than enough power for any normal sized room, which my previous amp was lacking. In terms of value for money you'll be hard pushed to find something similar with the options available on board and the quality of sound produced. My only gripe is that there's no usb input available and no subwoofer output with crossovers point which is handy if you want to connect a sub and integrate it with your main speakers, although this can be achieved in other ways with the pre out RCA. Overall very good maybe not the best amp in the world but given it's price point can compete very well with other amps costing much more.
