The Cambridge Audio AXA25 puts sound first - great sound simply doesn’t get much better than this.

No bells and whistles, just great sound

Inside the AXA25 you’ll find quality components and short signal paths for the best sound quality in its class. Careful circuit design reduces the signal path, giving higher purity sound and less distortion. Other quality engineering components include a high-spec heat sink that is die-cast rather than pressed steel and a damped power supply – reducing the chance of annoying transformer hum and buzz.

All the features you need
Although Cambridge Audio hasn’t wasted money on gimmicks, the AXA25 still has all the basic features you need. Balance, Bass and Treble controls let you tailor the sound to your preference, without overly distorting it as EQ presets can do. There are also a wide range of inputs.

Plenty of inputs – including one at the front
Four RCA phono inputs are ideal for a CD player, streamer, games console and turntable (with built-in pre-amp). There’s also a 3.5mm AUX input at the front that’s handy for temporary connections – such as an MP3 player or smartphone. The audio output lets you take a signal out to an external processor or recorder.

Power your music player or Bluetooth receiver
Next to the audio inputs you’ll also find a handy USB power socket. This is perfect for powering Bluetooth receivers or smart audio streaming devices, such as the Google Chromecast Audio, without having to find another spare mains socket.

Sleek new style
The entire Cambridge AX Series has a fresh new look that catches the eye. The Lunar Grey front panel contrasts with the black top and sides, making it ‘pop’ into crisp focus. The minimalist button count give a timeless style that’s typical of the Cambridge Audio brand. The teardrop facia with wedge foot mirrors the CX Series, showing a strong family link between ranges.

Make your move into hi-fi separates in style, with the class-leading Cambridge Audio AXA25.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from USB power socket non functional The Richer Sounds online description for the amplifier gives this advice "Power your music player or Bluetooth receiver. Next to the audio inputs you’ll also find a handy USB power socket. This is perfect for powering Bluetooth receivers or smart audio streaming devices, such as the Google Chromecast Audio, without having to find another spare mains socket." Unfortunately, when you power any device (mobile phone, Chromecast Audio, etc.) via the USB socket, and use that same device as an audio input to the amp, a large amount of interference is output from the speakers. There seems to be an insulation/earthing issue. As using the USB socket as a streaming device power supply was part of my intended use case, returned my amp to the store. I tried the same set up on another unit of the same model at a different store and the issue persisted. This is definitely an issue with the amp design rather than the device/cables being plugged into it, as we tested with powering a device independently and outputting via the amp, and listening to a device independently whilst powered by the amp, and there was no interference in either of these tests. I would actually give this amp 5 stars for sound, value and build quality were it not for this issue (it actually sounds fantastic). Unfortunately, I can only give it 1 star as its functionality does not match the product description.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple Amp to use Was bought a turntable for xmas so wanted to get an amp so i could use it that would last a while, be able to add bit too and not break the bank. This little unit did just that! Works a charm, looks lovely and will be fine for a good few years for what i need it for.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Basic but good amplifier I have never bought an amp before but was impressed with attitude and knowledge of salesman (Rich). He had set up a display for me so I could get a hands-on experience with my vinyl. I was cost conscious and was after a beginner's set-up and Rich sorted me out. I have really enjoyed listening to my records on a new system and also have option to upgrade in future. Amplifier is basic but good. Very happy so far and would definitely recommend one to anyone else.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good but not great Cambridge audio amp, wrong power cable (,Europe plug) returned with no drama and freebie audio cable thrown in to sweeten the deal. The amp has good breadth of sound and all the power I will ever need .Annoying standby indicator is virtually the same as on indicator...silly but there you go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good turntable and amp Simple to set-up, turntable is fool proof and prevents damage to the records from manual placement of the stylus. Really good sound.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So glad it's mine I bought the Cambridge AXA CD and amplifier combination and am so happy Imade the right choice. Not only does the sound live up to its reputation, but also, simply as a piece of furniture its looks are so elegant. Really pleased I made this decision, and appreciate the helpful advice from RS Exeter.
