”Still the best music streamer around at this price”. ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2020 award-winner.

Powerful processor

The V2 version of the CXN features a faster processor for a richer Internet radio experience and a greater level of playback control. Introducing mpeg-DASH and HLS compatibility, the CXN V2 makes the most of Internet radio. BBC radio stations now sound better than ever when available at 320 kbps.

A sound emphasis
As ever, the CXN V2 puts sound quality first. Using twin Wolfson WM8740 DACs (Digital to Analogue Convertors), each channel has its own DAC to process its own information. This gives a more precise and accurate sound quality with improved stereo imaging. When combined with the 2-Pole Dual Differential Bessel filter, the DACs help give the CXN V2 outstanding levels of clarity and transparency of sound.

AFT2 Up-Sampling for the ultimate detail and least jitter
The Cambridge CXN V2 improves sound quality still further with an Anagram Technologies AFT2 24 bit/384 kHz up-sampling circuit. ATF (Adaptive Time Filtering) up-sampling 'stretches' the music to give the highest resolution possible. Up-sampling sound gives a smoother, more relaxed sound quality with added detail. You'll hear every detail, including every deep breath, squeaky chair and flutter of sheet music; in short, it's like being there for real.

Stream all your stored music - including Hi Res files
With UPnP (Universal Plug n' Play) compatibility it's easy to connect the Cambridge CXN V2 to your home network and stream from your NAS drive, hard drive, PC or laptop. The CXN V2 accepts a wide range of files, including many Hi Res formats. ALAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, WMA, MP3, AAC, HE AAC, AAC+ and OGG Vorbis are all supported, making this a highly flexible streamer.

Connect to Internet radio and Spotify Connect
In addition to supporting over 20,000, easy to access Internet radio stations, the CXN V2 is compatible with the most popular music streaming services. Spotify is the world’s most popular streaming service and the CXN V2 has Spotify Connect built-in (requires Spotify Premium account). If you subscribe to Spotify Premium, you can control the Cambridge with the powerful Spotify Connect app on your phone or tablet. The CXN V2 also supports Napster, BBC iPlayer Radio, Aupeo! Pandora and Rhapsody.

AirPlay 2 and optional Bluetooth
In addition to comprehensive streaming capabilities over LAN, Wi-Fi and USB, the CXN V2 is also compatible with Apple's AirPlay 2 streaming. Use it with your iPhone, iPad PC or Mac and wireless stream your iTunes library or other compatible music services. Connect the optional BT100 dongle and you'll be able to stream your music from any smartphone, tablet or other device with Bluetooth built-in.

Built-in digital pre-amp - just add active speakers
If you're seeking quality hi-fi from a minimal system then the built-in digital pre-amp will appeal. Simply add active speakers via the digital or analogue outputs and you'll be able to control the volume and balance via the CXN V2.

Pro connections
When it comes to connecting up, the CXN V2 is in the pro league. The highlight is the fitment of XLR balanced sockets. When used with a compatible amplifier, such as the matching Cambridge CXA81, these connections give the ultimate analogue link possible, with greatly improved resistance to interference.

Quad USB interface
Added to this there are no fewer than four USB interfaces. The front-mounted socket is ideal for connecting devices such as a USB media stick. At the back, two interfaces take care of a more permanently connected media device plus the optional Bluetooth dongle port. A Type-B asynchronous USB input gives direct connection to your PC or Mac. This makes the ideal connection for hooking up your computer as it effectively 'controls' the PC's output for the best sound quality possible – with greatly reduced jitter.

Digital in and out
Optical and coaxial digital sockets are provided for both inputs and outputs. This lets you connect other digital components and take advantage of the quality DAC built into the CXN V2. It also means you can plug the CXN V2 into your AV receiver or digital stereo amp. Analogue phono outputs are also standard.

New Stream Magic app*
For the best streaming experience with your CXN V2, simply download the free Stream Magic app on your Android or Apple iOS device. Developed exclusively by Cambridge Audio, this bespoke app offers a customisable hub for fast access to the streaming features you use the most.

Vibration resistant casing
With rigid, metal construction and low-resonance design, the casing helps shield the player from both mechanical and electrical interference, helping to improve clarity and reduce background noise. Isolating feet help adsorb vibration for a further reduction in distortion.

Sleek new finish
The CXN V2 is part of the refreshed CX-Series 2. The distinctive tear-drop profile gives the CXN V2 a contemporary look and makes it the ideal partner for the CX digital amplifiers, CD transport and also a great match for the Cambridge Audio AX range. The Lunar Grey front panel contrasts with the black top and sides and blends well with both black and silver separates.

For a comprehensively equipped network streamer that puts sound first, the Cambridge CXN V2 is still the one to beat.

*Please note that the Stream Magic app is not compatible with the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just Amazing I bought this a week ago and can't stop listening to this beauty. It's twin DACs are sublime and in preamp mode is very easy to control. It is simply transparent and my Arcam cd transport sounds spacious and precise. As for Tidal and other streamers Zi can only comment on Tidal and Amazon hd.Tidal worked straight out of the box. Amazon took a bit of sorting but now up and running . Both sound amazing with Tidal taking the honours on quality quite surprised really does punch above its cost. Another thing that surprised me was when I looked at my stream magic app there was a media library icon. I pressed this and realised it had connected itself to my PC. I clicked on this and all of my music in my music files were available. I hadn't even connected a usb cable, awesome all plays over WiFi.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from That's more LIKE it! A few weeks ago, I bought an Audiolab 6000N Play - finally dragging my system into the 2000s. I loved the convenience of streaming, but the way the Audiolab worked (using Play-Fi).... Fiddle, fiddle, fiddle... Many hours of gnashing teeth trying to get it to recognize my media server... Hmmmm.... But - having been sold on the streaming idea, if not the actual streamer, Richer Sounds - excellent customer service as always - exchanged it for the CXNV2. Don't waste your time. Just. Buy. This one. I had this set up for Tidal and my home server in literally 20mins. Glitch-free, and sounds SO much better than the Audiolab (into a CXA61 and Dali Opticon 6 Mk2s). Clarity, great detail, great punch. Yes - more expensive - but well worth the extra if you have it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Some problems :-( This is undoubtable a quality product, with great functionality, and so easy to set up. However....... I thought as Chromecast was built in, and I could 'cast' Amazon Music HD to get 24bit hi res music. Not so. The CXNv2 only displayed 16bit 44.1KHz - when it connected, which it didn't always do :-( It seems AmazonMusic HD "does not support Chromecast" - this isn't Cambridge Audio's fault, but a disappointment. So, Apple Music launched an HD service last week, and as the CXNv2 has Airplay, I tried to wirelessly send Apple Music lossless audio to get 24bit hi res audio. Not so :-( The CXNv2 does NOT support ALAC, Apple's lossless coding they are using for their Hi Res Audio service, and so only 16bit 44.1KHz results in the CXNv2 display :-( SO - I rang Richer Sounds Customer Service, and they were VERY helpful. I will exchange the CXNv2 for a more expensive Azur 851N which does support ALAC, and so I hope this will be a wireless Hi Res solution.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Back to normal The CXN was bought as a replacement for my Stream Magic 6, it does the same job just as well. The SM6 had a minor and quite common fault with the auto power down feature, what is disappointing is I could not find anyone willing or able to repair it. Now it is going to be recycled into spoons or whatever, what a waste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent quality and sounds superb! I’ve matched the Cambridge CXN streamer up with my Cambridge CX61 Amp - it’s one of my best audio system ever. The app is easy to use, starts and stops the system for when I want it. Matched up with my Eclipse speakers and Rel Quake sub. We’ve been really enjoying music nights again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Loving my new system Great service form Richer Sounds when I bought this. It looks smooth, feels smooth and sounds smooth. We are hearing instruments within our music which we had never heard before. A really impressive system to replace my 30 year old Denon! Sad but now really very happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So close to perfect - apps let it down Make no mistake the CXN V2 has far exceeded my expectations and transforned the way I listen to music. The sheer quality of sound is at a level I have not experienced before and it copes well with mediocre quality sound files but shines with high quality files. The shortcomings are the apps. The android app does not see sub files on my hard drive and despite contacting support more than a week ago I have had no reply. On apple the filesa re seen but playlists are not functional so I have to use the supplied remote which does not have the advantage of the phone layout. Camridge Audio really need to get their act together on this and I hope that future updates will sort it so that playlists can be used on the apple phone and the android app becomes functional.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great piece of kit I must say that I did hesitate for a long time before purchasing this streamer chiefly because of its price tag but I shouldn't have deprived myself for so long because...it's fantastic! The sound that is coming from this unit is phenomenal, I do not recognise my music streamed from my iPhone or iPad, it is crisp, clear, melodious in short..I love my purchase
