Better value than ever but with the same class-leading performance, the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100 is a true audio bargain.

What does the DacMagic 100 do?

Whatever the digital source, the DacMagic 100 will make your music sound better. Simply plug in your dock, Blu-ray, DVD, TV or CD player via optical or coaxial connections and enjoy audio quality that's way ahead of what you might expect. There's a USB connection for your computer, laptop or tablet and it also supports 24-bit/192kHz transfer, so music files stored on your laptop in top 24/192 quality can be streamed, uncompressed, and enhanced by its DAC.

Class-leading sound quality
Whatever your music source, you'll enjoy genuine hi-fi quality sound by using the Cambridge Audio DacMagic 100. A Wolfson WM8742 24-bit DAC is teamed up with Cambridge Audio's wealth of digital engineering knowledge to create a sound that's vibrant, detailed and remarkably free from jitter. Jitter is especially prevalent on music sent via network devices or hard drives and can give the sound a harsh and unnatural quality.

Well connected
There are two coaxial inputs and a single optical one, all switchable from the front. Add to this the USB input and gold-plated analogue RCA outputs for connecting to your hi-fi and the DacMagic 100 has every angle covered.

Audiophile quality sound from your digital sources without having to spend a fortune? Now, Dac's magic!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Neat and well built little DAC Cambridge Dac Magic 100. Well put together little Dad that perfectly matches my Cambridge CXC transport. Easy to set up and adds some refinement to the overall sound. Good set of inputs including Optical, Coax and USB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to connect up and operate. I bought this after my 8 year old dacmagic plus finally kicked the bucket. I felt it would be overkill to buy another as I only need to convert a single audio feed. This is a perfect replacement for my needs and I think it's easier to use not having the volume control like the plus does.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Simple Set Up I have owned this for about eight months now and it has served me well. It's really good at extracting audio from a computer to the amplifier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fits the niche exactly I came to this product after an unfortunate experience buying the same companies' CXUHD dvd/cd player, discovering when I came to hook it up to my system that there were no line-level analogue outputs. As a temporary measure I used a spare digital coax input to an elderly CD recorder, monitoring the input through to my Audiolab pre-amp. To their credit(?) neither Richer nor Cambridge Audio suggested that the DACMagic was a better solution to this problem caused by my oversight, but I got there eventually under my own steam! My initial concern about acquiring a separate DAC unit was that it had to work with my analogue-only Audiolab pre-amp because of my ongoing need to support analogue inputs, so I did not require duplication of volume control, headphone output and high quality Class A drive for my Quad amps. This where the 100 scores over its more expensive sibling. I'm pleased to be able to report that the DACmagic 100 was an outstanding success, producing some of the best quality sound reproduction I've achieved with my system - especially noticeable with 'live' recordings from concert halls, opera houses etc. At the other end of the scale it made more tolerable some of the less than perfect recordings retained from an earlier age! This effect was achieved not only with disk or local area network playback from the CXUHD, but also from my satellite TV recorders which could also be accommodated with the spare coax and optical inputs on the DACmagic 100. I've read hundreds of hi-fi reviews in the past and scoffed many times at some of the hyperbole employed, but I find myself saying that with the DACmagic 100 the music reproduction is more involving, drawing you into the performance rather than leaving you as a casual bystander. Good job!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from An incredible little machine for great sound Recently I bought the Cambridge Audio Dac and connected it with my Mac mini. Although Macs include the very good dacs in their motherboard, the upgrade of the sound was incredible. With little money you can have a lift off of your system. All areas of sound are much improved, clarity, volume and body of orchestra, low, middle and higher frequencies sound as if they come from a system valued thousands. This gadget is so valuable that from now on I cannot imagine my system without it, and thinking what I miss so many years listening without it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cambridge Audio DAC Magic 100 Nice compact little box which links computer generating digital audio to analogue to be played through the hi fi system. Big improvement in the sound quality. Easy to setup. Does not have a headphone socket like some DACs but I can use the phone outlet from the hifi amp instead. Comes in silver or black.
