good cables poor male-female adaptor socket
These are good quality cables, the gold plating does make a difference to signal over time.
I purchased three of them to go from one splitter to a second, and from that to an HDTV and a DAB receiver. Having connected up the cables under the floor I was disappointed to see the TV saying "Weak or no signal", and the DAB on the Naim Uniti also failed. Bypassing the new cables & splitters with a single old one to the TV it was fine. I had had to use two of the male-female adapters in the circuit, and testing these realised there was almost no retention force, and hence guessed there was poor connection.
The picture of the male-female adaptor socket shown is actually a weird piece of Photoshop bodging that shows another male peg at the centre - just like the cable images, so could never actually fit to the ends of the cable. (they haven't even made the ellipse angle of the gold end and the white overmould match up, and why not show a photo of the actual product I can't understand).
Anyhow, what you actually get is a super thin-walled gold plated tube at the centre and outside with two splits that are supposed to provide "spring" to accommodate the cable end, each of these circular pairs (4 per adapter) needed to be gently squeezed together with needle nose pliers to distort them to become slightly elliptical, doubtless voiding the guarantee in the process, but at least they then give a firm connection.
After modification, I reassembled the circuit and TV immediately began showing HD Freeview image rather than the "Weak or No Signal" warning, DAB also works fine on the other cable.
So, if you don't need to use the male-female adapters you'll be fine, if you do, you will probably need to adapt them! (I also tried a different make adapter I had kicking around, it had thicker walls that were formed to grip better and gave good signal too)
