”Another winning amplifier from Denon.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2019 Product of the Year.

9-channel surround sound

With 9.2 channels of sound, the AVR-X3600H gives you a wide range of surround sound and multi-room options. Choose between 7.2.2 or 5.2.4 Dolby Atmos speaker configurations with two or four ceiling speakers. Alternatively, stick with 5.2.2 and power a second pair of speakers in another room or bi-amp your main pair of speakers. As your system grows, so the capability of this Denon AVR grows with it.

Max up the Atmos
Featuring an 11.2 channel pre-output, you can take the AVR-3600H to the next level of Dolby Atmos – 7.2.4. With this configuration, you get seven surround speakers, four ceiling speakers and two subs, for incredibly immersive surround sound. Just add an additional 2-channel amp, and you’re ready to go.

Power for all speakers
Benefiting from a punchy 105 watts per channel, the AVR-X3600H has the ability to drive a wide range of different speakers – even in larger rooms. High grade audio components mean this AV receiver isn’t just about power, it’s about quality, too, making it just as impressive with music as it is with movies. When it comes to processing power, the 32-bit AKM convertors make this Denon AVR smooth and adaptable with all audio files, including Hi-Res files such as DSD 5.6, FLAC and WAV.

IMAX Enhanced Technology
IMAX has partnered with DTS and award-winning Hollywood sound mixers to deliver stunning levels of sound quality. Only the highest quality home cinema equipment meets the standard. IMAX enhanced content is due on HDR streaming and UHD Blu-ray and promises to offer the next step-up in sound from the already impressive DTS:X.

Dolby Atmos, DTS:X and DTS Neural:X for cinematic sound
Dolby Atmos uses ceiling or upwards firing speakers to produce a multi-dimensional, immersive sound that's a match for the finest cinemas. DTS:X literally pushes the boundaries of what you can expect from home cinema. It renders images in three dimensions that conventional processing can't match. DTS Neural:X upmixer supports Dolby formats, giving you DTS surround whatever the format.

Extra height, without the speakers - Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization and DTS Virtual:X
It's not always possible to accommodate Atmos height speakers, which is when Dolby Atmos Height Virtualization comes in handy. Play any Dolby format and enjoy a more immersive sound with virtual height enhancement – using your existing speakers. DTS Virtual:X also creates a more enveloping sound from any DTS codec. Compatible with 2, 5.1 or 7.1 speaker configurations, DTS Virtual:X gives the impression of height and immersive sound.

Advanced multi-room functionality including two-zone HDMI and sound
The AVR-X3600H has an impressive three HDMI outputs with an independent zone 2. This means you can run audio and video to another screen, in another room - independently from the main, twin outputs. With nine channels of power, the AVR-X3600H has the option of running a set of speakers in another room, while still offering Atmos 5.2.2 home cinema in the main room. An RS-232C socket and DC trigger make this receiver ideal for professional home installation systems.

Voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices
Controlling a sophisticated AV receiver like this can be baffling for some members of the family, which is why Denon have made it compatible with Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant and Siri devices. Simply download the HEOS Home Entertainment Skill app and then just ask Alexa or the Google Assistant to perform functions such as volume and source selection. Using the Apple Home App, Siri voice control from your Apple iOS device brings added functionality over AirPlay 2 – including grouping devices.

Up to 32 HEOS units can be set up at one time, ensuring even the largest of homes are covered for multi-room music. Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what you need! I bought this system just over a week ago as my old Panasonic SA XR10, which I still loved but it certainly was time to get bang up to date and more importantly get future proofed. The long and short is I absolutely love it! The sound is amazing (I have it paired I with the Q Accoustics 3050i cinema pack with the rear speakers upgraded to the 3020i bookshelf speakers) and I can now hear so much extra detail compared with my outgoing system, which as I said I loved and thought was great but the clarity on this is just superb and the flexibility you have by owning this kind of system is equally amazing. In summary I think this receiver will probably, comfortably last me the next 20 years with the amount of tech and connections bundled in there, that and the build quality of the beast. Definitley 5 stars from me and I have to say a massive thumbs up to Vik (in telesales) and Chris & Dean from the Leeds store for their help and advice and also getting this out to me as quickly as they did considering the current state of affairs and that the lockdown happened just a couple of days after I had placed the order, which I was originally going to collect from the store. 5 stars for the equipment and 5 stars for Richer Sounds. Cheers all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks great, easy set up and EXCELLENT sound I bought this on the excellent recommendation of Steve at the reading store. Along with the DALI Oberon 5 5.1 speaker package. I’ve been so impressed. It’s far exceeded my expectation. The sound is so clear, and I love the bass reproduction. Music sounds completely different (for the better) and I’m really enjoying my films again. Thanks.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great sound, slightly wayward software I’m using this Denon with a Sony OLED tv (2018 model). The Denon’s ability to use the tv display for setup is great - when it works. Maybe it’s the Sony, maybe the Denon, but they often fail to communicate well over the HDMI. Apart from the random setup display, the Denon sometimes blurts out tv sound when the volume is changed for an analogue stereo input. It gives the impression that there are bugs in the control software. Another example is that it turns itself off after a while, if it’s switched on by pressing the source button for the same analogue input. Since it recognises that a press of the button is equivalent to the power on button, why doesn’t it stay on? I think it will stay on if the tv is active, but not if it’s in standby (as of course it is when listening to another source). The sound, and the surround decoding, appear very good so far. One other quibble would be that since it has 9 amplifiers, and many people won’t use them all, couldn’t one (or two), be assignable to power passive subwoofers?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to set up and use. A technological leap from my previous receiver/amp and sounds good too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound packed with all the latest feature Set up is very easy, just follow the on screen instructions. HEOS is a great addition improving music media playback. The surround sound is fantastic, much better than my old AVR-X3000. In fact it is better than the AVR-X 3000 in every possible way! For even better sound listening to music I would recommend getting the Audessey Multi EQ editor app. With this you can tune your music to your particular taste.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great upgrade I'll start by saying how good the customer service was in the Newcastle store, specifically Euan. He spent a long time with me while I listened to a range of different items and answered every question passionately and in great detail. I have upgraded from a Yamaha RXV477 and difference is astounding. I upgraded so I could use the profits into my 2ch Arcam for the two fronts as I was having to switch but even the delivery to all the other channels is a huge upgrade. The build quality is great, sound quality is excellent and the Audyssey setup is much better than the YMOA on my old Yamaha. I also have the ability to add extra speakers and extra amps for in the future if I wish which is great.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good set up and pucture I bought this as my AVR3300 went bang. Lots of updates especially on the sound and I like HEOS too. Shame Audessy doesn’t set the crossovers but that is easily sorted. Also if you’re running 2 subs make sure they’re reasonably well matched in power

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound! Purchased recently, found it easy to setup. Replaced my Yamaha receiver as it had developed a (expensive) fault but much prefer the sound of the Denon.
