”Humax has done it yet again, with another great HD TV box.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2019 award-winner.

Freeview Play makes it easy

Freeview Play takes Freeview HD to the next level by offering easy to access, catch-up TV. You also get all the other great benefits of Freeview. With over 75 subscription-free channels including 15 HD channels available, there's always something to watch with Freeview TV.

The next step - scroll-back TV
Connect the Humax to your Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and you can enhance your TV viewing with effortless catch-up TV. Catching up on programmes you've missed is easy - simply use the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) to 'scroll' back on the last seven days TV programmes. With support for BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub*, All 4 and Demand 5, the great majority of the last seven days’ worth of TV are just a scroll away (requires broadband Internet connection with a minimum speed of 2Mbps). *ITV Hub is available in England, Wales and The Channel Islands.

Now with Netflix and YouTube
As well as the regular UK TV channels, the FVP-5000T gives easy access to other popular video services. If you’ve got a Netflix account then you can get easy, single-key access. YouTube, Freeview Explore and UK TV Play are also covered.

Record, pause and rewind live TV
Featuring a large 1TB hard drive, it's easy to record, pause and rewind live TV. The large capacity storage holds up to 500 hours of TV - enough to be able to catch up on all your favourite TV even after a long break away. With the pause and rewind function, interruptions from phone calls are no longer an issue - simply pause the live TV and resume when you're free again.

It’s easy to playback stored video or music by simply plugging in a USB device. Alternatively, UPnP (Universal Plug n’ Play) lets you play content from your computer or NAS drive using your home network.

App control
Download the free Humax Live TV app (available for Apple and Android) and you’ll get a whole new level of control. With the app you can stream live TV or recordings from your recorder to smart device. You can also set reminders, schedule recordings and even access the TV guide from the myHumax portal.

Easy connectivity
For an easy, top quality connection to your TV, the FVP-5000T uses HDMI. Humax haven’t forgotten about the sound, either. A choice of analogue phono or optical digital audio outputs let you connect up to pretty much any soundbar, AV receiver, amp or Hi-Fi system.

Get the best in catch-up TV without any subscription fee – the Humax FVP-5000T makes the best TV affordable for all.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SUPER GREAT SERVICE I wanted to buy a DVD player and a new PVR as mine packed up just at the wrong time. I received great advice by email from the Weybridge shop I was going to order click and collect but they had to close the shop. Ordered online, good price, fast delivery. overall great service.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Lots of different channels to choose from Much improvement on the old model we had ie 10 plus years, that is why we chose the humax

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Review for Humax FVP5000T 1TB The redesigned hardware and software are a great improvement on my previous model-PVR-9300T. My only problem is that much of the program guide info (where you set recordings) is very delayed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Freeview box We bought this just over two weeks ago in anticipation of lockdown and having two children to entertain. The BT box that we had before kept on falling over and having unreliable TV at this time was clearly undesirable. The service from Richer Sounds was excellent and the product arrived ahead of schedule. It prompted a wire tidy behind the TV - never a bad idea - and has worked faultlessly since. The only downside with it, and sadly it is a significant one, is that you can't get Prime through it - you need a specific Amazon plug-in for that. We tend to use Prime quite a lot so that was disappointing. Otherwise, for regular TV watching, and much more, this is a good investment, especially for parental sanity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great so far I bought this a few weeks ago after having decided to abandon Sky after yet another proposed price hike. I did my research, looking online at reviews (including Which) and going in store to chat to the assistants there. The instructions were straightforward, though I couldn't get it to work straightaway, but I think that was me rather than the Humax. Two weeks in, and after getting used to the controls and the screen interface, everything is great. I wish I had abandoned Sky sooner!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple even for a 72yr old techie dinosaur! Got this earlier this month as my previous set top box crashed! It was super easy to install and set up and we were using it within an hour of opening the box. Recording programmes takes just one click and you can programme the control stick to your TV so all your other sticks can go in the cupboard. Any niggles? Yes, a couple. The indicator light showing the box is on is not visible when the box is on due to be on the underside. The "Guide"menu is not particularly clear. It could have larger lettering. But this may be a Freeview issue rather than a Humax one. So, all-in all, I recommend this unit for picture quality, sound output and price. And I shall really appreciate it during this Coronavirus lockdown.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Humax Disappointment The problem with this product is the user interface - it is not logical nor too friendly. Having used the Topfield recorder - the Topfield interface for scheduling programmes, getting information on the programmes and generally the simplicity of using the box - from a non technical point of view was significantly superior. The Bobs Mystuff download made the Topfield. IF the Humax had this or the supplied interface could be upgraded - it would make for a much better product. Just sorting out what one wants to watch has to be done carefully - the programme can be as easily deleted as watched! The set up of the box was quite good - usually a one-off on most products - the ongoing use being as poor as it is has made me think of trying to get my Topfield up and running again!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says it does Having moved house, I was looking to change the way we watched TV. Virgin were charging us an extortionate amount and seemed to increase this every month. Freeview and some recording capacity, mixed with some streaming services as required will save us over £600 per year. The box is easy to use with a really easy interface. One problem was it seemed to have lost all of our recordings, but this was resolved after a quick internet search of what to do.
