”Humax has done it yet again, with another great HD TV box.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2019 award-winner.

Freeview Play makes it easy

Freeview Play takes Freeview HD to the next level by offering easy to access, catch-up TV. You also get all the other great benefits of Freeview. With over 75 subscription-free channels including 15 HD channels available, there's always something to watch with Freeview TV.

The next step - scroll-back TV
Connect the Humax to your Internet via Wi-Fi or Ethernet and you can enhance your TV viewing with effortless catch-up TV. Catching up on programmes you've missed is easy - simply use the Electronic Programme Guide (EPG) to 'scroll' back on the last seven days TV programmes. With support for BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub*, All 4 and Demand 5, the great majority of the last seven days’ worth of TV are just a scroll away (requires broadband Internet connection with a minimum speed of 2Mbps). *ITV Hub is available in England, Wales and The Channel Islands.

Now with Netflix and YouTube
As well as the regular UK TV channels, the FVP-5000T gives easy access to other popular video services. If you’ve got a Netflix account then you can get easy, single-key access. YouTube, Freeview Explore and UK TV Play are also covered.

Record, pause and rewind live TV on a mighty 2TB hard drive
Featuring a huge 2TB hard drive, it's easy to record, pause and rewind live TV. The large capacity storage holds up to 1000 hours of TV at standard definition. Record HD programmes and you’ve still got the potential for 500 hours of stored TV. With the pause and rewind function, interruptions from phone calls are no longer an issue - simply pause the live TV and resume when you're free again.

It’s easy to playback stored video or music by simply plugging in a USB device. Alternatively, UPnP (Universal Plug n’ Play) lets you play content from your computer or NAS drive using your home network.

App control
Download the free Humax Live TV app (available for Apple and Android) and you’ll get a whole new level of control. With the app you can stream live TV or recordings from your recorder to smart device. You can also set reminders, schedule recordings and even access the TV guide from the myHumax portal.

Easy connectivity
For an easy, top quality connection to your TV, the FVP-5000T uses HDMI. Humax haven’t forgotten about the sound, either. A choice of analogue phono or optical digital audio outputs let you connect up to pretty much any soundbar, AV receiver, amp or Hi-Fi system.

Play, record and stream, subscription-free, with the Humax FVP-5000T 2TB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Impressive Performance Bought 2 weeks ago to replace a collection of old but still working Humax recorders. The unit has the same Humax functionality plus more features.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Painfully slow and frustrating I was bought this for my birthday just before LOCKDOWN. This meant I could not take it back. Had it been any other time I would have insisted on a complete refund. It was a replacement for my SONY PVR which I also bought from Richer some years ago. It was great, but the hard drive had died. I replaced the HD no problem, myself, but nonetheless decided to upgrade for the ability to record more than 2 progs at a time.. Okay so press a button and wait. Did I press it? try again, nothing. Oh no, 3 button presses at once. Okay so get used it it being slow, but where's my ability to organise my files? On the SONY you were able to make your own folders, for films, documentaries, and so on or to save others for deletion. Humax restricts you to date and alphabet, no folders. This is 2 Terabytes. That is a huge potential number of files with no ability to organise them. Given how slow the system is it takes a long time to scroll through. Just far too frustrating. I just can’t see me bothering to fill that much space as it would be impossible to find anything. Playback is also painful. On each entry on the recordings list, you have to click and wait. What you find is all programmes of a particular series, but sadly in the wrong order. If you want the earliest (as anyone would), you have to scroll (slowly) to the head of the list, click, move the cursor right to “play” then click and wait. Youtube works, then decides not to. This is NOT a network problem - all computers in the house (there are many) have great bandwidth from the Virgin cable. The reception (perfect on the TV) is rubbish through the Humax. What are they doing to the signal? Menus are frustrating as response time is pitifully slow, It's like they are using 15 year old technology or trying to do too much without using decent processors or quality equipment. I may thrown this away and put it down to experience. Anyone want a cheap Humax?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Thoughts on my new Humax FVP5000T 2TB First lets start with the positives 1) Documentation: It comes with a 3 page quick start guide which is all you need to get going. But it also comes with a 42 page manual, and that is not 1 page of English and 41 pages of foreign language, no, all 42 pages are in English and covers many of the finer details for those so inclined. Documentation? Excellent. 2) Remote control: If you're the wrong side of 50, as I am, then larger, clearer buttons are very useful. This remote control is well laid out with clearly marked large buttons, big enough for an Englishman's fingers. The remove control is easy to use and straight forward but having everything that is needed. 3) The recorder itself: It's mid-sized, not very small, but also not large. The size works for us. It's got the needed connections and has plenty of ventilation slots. The unit runs quite cool, it does get a little warm, but that is it, so the electronics inside does not appear to be getting overly hot, this will make it more reliable (hot electronics fails more often). The power supply is an external plug in power block style similar to those supplied with a modern laptop. 4) Subtle extras: It has useful extras such as support for WiFi connection, so no Ethernet wiring needed. Phono Audio out, so it can directly drive an amplifier. USB socket. You can plug in a USB with picture on and play them through the TV. It has the ability to be a network server: You can detect it in the home network and can therefore access the hard disc to back up your PC or access the recorded materials (I've yet to do this, but the manual describes it). It can record 4 programs at a time, this is great!! It comes with a 2 year warranty as standard, It is responsive to the remote control, it has lots of other positive points and it is a great purchase. I should write down the negative points..... but there aren't any!!. OK, only 1 very minor point. There is no light on the front to tell which mode it is in, ie, On, Standby, Hibernate, Recording, etc. But that is a very minor point. I got this from Richersounds because of the competitive product price and very fairly priced extended warranty, so I have coverage for 6 years. I'm very happy with this product and would recommend it. I highly recommend this product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Top Quality Goods This is my second Humax from Richer Sounds, the first worked fine 24/7 for years, the I had an accident with it and it wasn't repairable. This one is a superior one in many aspects. Recommend it to anyone. Easy Set Up, and Great Delivery.....got it the following day.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Good Step Forward Eventually cancelled BT TV and so needed a new set top box. Theirs was an older Humax and I am a fan of recording rather than just streaming. This new box is great. It is faster, easier to use, has quality graphics and is small and discreet. Thoroughly recommend this product!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great update from previous BT YouView box. Excellent on line service from RicherSounds and quick delivery. Extremely pleased with all the features and picture quality. Box did cause tv cabinet ,where it sits,to hum due to transferred vibration presumably from box fan or hdd. Cured by resting on new wooden patress with sponge feet.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Average picture and sound I live 33 miles from the transmitter and only have a loft aerial.I believe this may contribute to the problem I am having which is that the picture occasionally freezes for a half second.I have been advised to get a high gain aerial which may solve the problem. Dont expect an HD picture from this box as fom a satellite dish antenna ,it just isnt.
