”Still the finest in-ear headphones we’ve ever heard at this price.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2019 award-winner.

Dual micro drivers

Despite their tiny size, the Shure SE425s manage to pack in separate micro tweeters and woofers within each unit. It's these quality drivers that go a long to explaining the SE425's superb sound quality. Treble is absolutely crystal clear with high definition clarity that's usually the preserve of reference quality earphones. Despite their small size the bass is also powerful and rhythmic.

Sound-isolating tips
Enhancing the sound of these earphones still further is the supplied pack of Sound Isolating ear tips. Using soft and flexible materials, these tips give a perfect seal, blocking the vast majority of background noise. The wide variety of tips also ensures that getting a comfortable fit is easy.

Designed for life
Often an annoyance with small headphones, Shure has put much thought into the SE425's cable. First off, it features Kevlar reinforcement for a formable and durable connection. It's also detachable meaning that, should the worst happen, a replacement is easy to fit.

True audiophile sound within an in-ear design: the Shure SE425 lives up to the hype!

Includes a 2-year limited guarantee.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great customer service Bought the Shure for my husband's birthday. He asked specifically for them as he absolutely loves them. Customer service was great and very helpful as always.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Takes time but worth it After initial trouble getting the buds behind the ear and in, and experimenting with the fittings I am very pleased with these in ears. I use them commuting thru an iPhone and dragonfly red and love the clear mids, wide soundstage nad treble presence. Bass is behind as all the reviews tell you but still there with solid clarity. 35 hours listening so far - mainly rock- protomartyr, Fontaine’s dc etc. I had been looking for some time - and at this price if you still think that wired offers better sound go for these

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful build quality I was really surprised at the build and quality of these great head phones. I did experience the awkwardness of getting a good fit as they do take some getting used to but that adds to the fun for me. Shure supply a very good range of buds and I soon found a perfect fit for my lug holes. I decided Billie Eilish would be a good reference for my first listen. I connected the Shures to my iPhone 7 via a Dragonfly Red. I heard so much more than before and the bass and mid range are exceptional. If your budget is £100 please please wait until you can afford these Shures because they are worth every penny. The next level up would need a lot more money. I am a very happy locksmith.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great IEM, good service from store Read lots of reviews before purchasing, was still unsure so wanted to test in store. Staff at Nottingham ordered them in and when going to to test they were unable to find sleeves that fit. Despite this, they still allowed me to test the headphones using the sleeves in the box. Very pleased with the 425's and Richer sounds price beats most other shops but with the bonus of trying first. The key to these IEM's is finding the right sleeve and learning how to wear them properly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Superb sound, not so comfortable tho I have had these a few weeks now and I am so impressed by their sound quality, both through an iPhone and iPad direct and putting a Chord Mojo DAC in line. The only downside is that the earbud housing is a tight fit in the shape of my outer ear and they start to hurt after an hour. Just being slightly smaller would be great but Shure can’t make moulds for everyone’s different ear shapes so I don’t blame them in any way. I would like to try the 535’s and 846’s as they must be even better but the shape would be the same so I doubt I’ll be doing that. These are amazing sound for a reasonable price so I recommend them wholeheartedly.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Extremely uncomfortable, poor sound I got these as a Xmas present this year and was extremely excited to try them, unfortunately after only 20 mins of use I could not wear these anymore with the units hurting my ears. Even when getting a good seal, the sound was soulless and my old soundmagics outperform them. To cap it all I’m now stuck with a practically new pair of earphones that I can’t use or return. Woeful.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing sound from legendary IEM headphones The most amazing sound experience I've experienced. I also own some Sony WMF 1000 noise cancelling headphones which are great, well that's until you compare them. The detail you hear from the 425s is incredible. They might have been around for nearly 10 years but still often win product of the year and 5 star reviews in the audiophile and musicians magazines for best noise cancelling in ear headphones/monitors in the price range. They can take a little getting used to as far as fitting but persevere, it does get easy and its definitely worth the effort. I bought them on recommendation and I am certainly not disappointed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Reliable, great sound, excellent value for money Excellent value for money in-ear headphones! Sound quality best we have found at this price. Richer sounds great place to try out different makes/models, competitive on price, quick delivery and good customer service. Thanks Richer Sounds!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good fitting sound isolating headphones I bought these headphones after being very happy with my se 215, so I upgraded to se 425s and can hear a noticeable difference. I am very impressed with my purchase and thanks to the staff at Richer sounds for there help! Cheers

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Unsure about The Shure 425’s. I bought the 425’s as a replacement for my Sennheiser IE 80’s which sadly broke. As a lot of us do I read numerous reviews on IEM’s and decided to take a punt on the Shure’s with slight reservations. People were saying they lack bass, having had IE 80’ I had been spoilt for having rich, good quality bass. To begin with I struggled to listen to anything with them, changed the sleeves as they say to do, really didn’t like what I was hearing. Thankfully after seriously working them in(40 hours ish), they have loosened up a bit, having settled on the right sleeves they sound a lot better. The bass has come, albeit quite reserved, not as punchy as I’d like. On the plus side the clarity and depth these phones give out is very good, you will hear things that you didn’t before. The build quality seems good, and they are comfortable to wear, they sit nicely over my ears with cable tucked out of they way down my back. Would have given these more stars if they had met my expectations, sadly they just fall a bit short.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound for price Although slightly difficult to fit at first once in they are in for good and will not shake loose. Overall sound is excellent but they must be fitted correctly in the canal to get the best from them.Overall build quality is excellent. Could use clearer marking of left and right as the markings are impossible to distinguish as they are the same transparent plastic as the housing. Cable is very long and can get in the way an alternative shorter cable would be useful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built - Great sound Initially, a little fussy to set up but with practice this gets easier. Detail in sound is very good - I'm hearing things that weren't apparent with previous buds. These are very impressive ear buds.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from best value i bought this earphones a while ago and find it very good for the price... i used to have akg n40 and shure se215 that i use for the gym.. i bought these primarily to upgrade from se215 as shure se series have better water/sweat resistance.. they sound amazing, the details were there but i find it a bit lacking in bass but if you know how to play with your equalizer on the player you are using it with, you should have no problem at all... the sound is very accurate and clear. will definitely recommend this...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good bright sound My main criteria for buying was sound quality, which is good. However, I found fitting awkward with supplied instruction enigmatic at best. Still puzzled.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality in ear monitors, great sound & best price Perfect upgrade to my UE earphones. Sound great, perfect fit and i love the fact they fit flush. Might cosider using them inside a crash helmet which i have not been able to do with any of my previous earbuds. Great service from RS, by far the cheapest i found, but more important than that, great service. I'll be back....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic sound; great value for money Having previously owned B&W C5s, but Shure in the past, I decided to give Shure another try and purchased a set of SE425s. Whilst only being marginally more expensive than the B&W C5s, the step-up in sound quality is well worth the extra. As always with IEMs you need to get the fit right but Shure provide plenty of tips to experiment with and I've found them extremely comfortable, especially now with the over-the-ear design for the cable. And probably the best thing about the Shures? The cable is detachable so can be swapped out when inevitably (as with all IEMs) the cable wears and breaks. So these Shure SE425s should last me a lifetime! In short, highly recommended.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worthy upgrade Customers debating wether to upgrade from shires supremo 215 iems won’t be disappointed by there more refined and focused soundstage. They need an additional portable fav to shine through however and provide the otherwise lacking lower midrange frequencies. I am using fiio x3 3rd gen with fiio q1 mark 2 and the end result is a marriage made in heaven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound, brilliant noise isolation I bought these earphones a few weeks ago, and I must say I am truly impressed. The sponge ear tips provide almost complete noise isolation. The sound is crisp and clear, highlighting the mids and highs. While the bass is slightly pushed to the background, it is, nonetheless, clear and present, allowing the lows to fill the spaces in the music and provide a stunning listening experience. I am thoroughly impressed!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound quality Bought the Shure SE425s to go with my Astell & Kern AK70 mkii. The over the ear design takes a little getting used to - having not used that type previously - but a week in and all is good. Sound quality and detail is excellent with great sound staging. Bass is tight and focussed and generally sufficiently deep - one thing to note is the choice of ear buds to provide a tight fit in your ears is vital to ensure a good bass response. Mids and treble were initially a little "toppy" but after running in for a few hours this settled down and they really provide a very balanced play back. All in all a worthwhile purchase

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well balanced if somewhat lacking impactful bass Having owned various pairs of headphones in the price bracket I am extremely pleased with the mids and treble the se425s provide, their base is however a bit on the flat side leading to more cinematic pieces having a mixed aftertaste

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great sound I bought them as my old ear buds were damaged a big improvment in sound and for me comfortable fit straight out the box I listen to a wide range of musical styles from rock n blues to soul and jazz

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sounded great and felt very good for gigs These felt good, better than I expected. Sound was very good and the gig sound used as IEM was great for what I needed.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good after sales effort following a bit of a crash I bought the product and paid extra for a named day delivery; Richer Sound's couriers screwed this up but RS service, especially Thomas really worked hard to redeem the situation. I had left a pretty negative review which in hindsight I can see was unfair. Oh, the earphones are great!!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Incredibly Clear! I brought these a couple of weeks ago and an amazed at the clarity. They slightly lack a bit of vas’s but nothing too much to complain about. Very pleased!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good pair of headphones Great sound but a bit lacking in bass. Otherwise I am happy with this purchase.
Date published: 2019-06-07
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic mid price ear phones for audiophiles These are well balanced and have a very transparent sound. Mids, vocals and highs are natural without exaggeration and tizz. Bass is of good quality, rhythmic and texture but lacks the absolute punch, extension and drive of a dynamic driver. Vocals have a slight warmth which encourages long listening sessions. Suitable for all types of music. The closest sound comparison to a shelf speaker would be a PMC. Recommended
