”It promises a scintillating home cinema experience, and delivers just that.”– ‘What Hi-Fi’ – 5 Star review. Tested at £5000

Native UHD 4K resolution for the ultimate detail

Thanks to their massive experience in all aspects of entertainment, Sony are now able to bring the detail of 4K Ultra HD resolution to the home cinema. Simply put, projecting in this resolution gives detail and realism that's impossible to achieve with conventional Full HD resolution. UHD 4K resolution is four times greater than the more conventional 1920 x 1080 Full HD projectors and it's a difference you can easily see on a large projection screen.

SXRD panels for vivid picture quality
Sony uses advanced SXRD (Silicon X-tal Reflective Display) panels with an incredibly rapid response rate of just 2.5 milliseconds. This gives the VPLVW270ES smooth, fluid motion that's faster and more stable than typical LCD TVs. Another advantage over TVs is the increased panel resolution of 4096 x 2160. This ensures that films can be viewed in panoramic formats, such as CinemaScope and American Vista with much less of the picture taken up by black bars.

Super Resolution Reality Creation
Watching a 4K signal from a source such as UHD Blu-ray, Netflix or Amazon Prime is awesome but the VPL-VW270ES still excels with other resolutions, too. Exclusive Reality Creation technology analyses images right down to the pixel level. It uses powerful pattern-matching algorithms developed over years of movie production to enhance image crispness without increasing digital picture noise. It also upscales existing full HD Blu-ray Disc and DVD movies to near 4K quality.

HDR for the most vivid picture quality
Get the most from today's UHD Blu-ray and streaming services with High Dynamic Range. HDR video offers an expanded brightness range that delivers more realistic, high-contrast images and brilliant colours. Compatible with both HDR10 and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) formats. Sony’s home cinema projectors reproduce colour and contrast that's true to the director’s creation.

4K Motionflow makes it smooth
Whatever you're watching, you'll enjoy a liquid smoothness during fast-moving action scenes with Motionflow. This innovative technology creates and inserts extra frames between the original frames, first comparing key visual factors on successive frames, then calculating each split-second of missing action.

Lens shift for ease of installation
Simplify installation with vertical and horizontal lens shift, which provides a wider range of projector placement possibilities. This makes it easier to position the projector in your room and enables a wider range of screen size options.

Select from nine calibrated picture modes
Quickly set the picture to what you’re watching or playing. Select from nine calibrated picture modes, including two theatre film modes, cinema digital, reference, TV, photo, game, bright cinema, and bright TV. An advanced HSV (Hue Saturation Value) colour tuning tool gives you even more control.

See more detail than ever, on the big screen, with the Sony VPL-VW270ES.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Picture Quality I've had three different projectors before this Sony, the latest being from the Faux 4K stable - they just aren't in the same ball park as this native 4k projector from Sony, the sharpness of the picture is incredible and t is such a realistic picture. Its easy to set up and easy use - just superb and well worth the extra money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sony projector Very knowledgeable and helpful staff whilst discussing Home Entertainment Systems. Good projector - True 4K. Very sharp image. Contrast could be slightly better.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fantastic Projector I bought this following the advice of Richer Sounds Stockport when upgrading my home theatre. I previously had an Epson EH-TW6000 HD/3D projector which I loved, but wanted the full 4K experience. I was nervous that the projector was only 1,500 lumens whereas my last was 2,200 - but this isn't a problem at all. Actually what I noticed was that my last one was compensating for less depth and quality. Black scenes are perfect, bright scenes are jaw-dropping, and the quality is great. Beware of its size - it is big, but that's why I chose the white one to blend into the ceiling and it was absolutely the right thing to do. It doesn't look an eye-sore at all, in fact it just looks slick and professional. If you're buying this, upgrade your speakers and rip up your cinema pass, you won't need it.
