”As the basis of a budget music system, it’s impressive and has to be regarded as a bit of a star.”- ‘Hi-Fi Choice’ ‘Recommended – 5 Star review’

Punchy performer

Despite its compact size, the Tangent Ampster BT II is ‘full fat’ when it comes to power output. With its 2 x 25 watt power output, this baby amp has ample power to deliver room-filling sound in small and medium-sized spaces. For extra bass, simply hook up your choice of active subwoofer to the dedicated sub output.

Wireless Bluetooth connection
Connect to your smartphone or tablet and listen out loud, without the hassle of cables. The quality Bluetooth 4.0 connection ensures a high quality, low loss connection for a smooth and lifelike sound.

Wire up your TV and music sources, too
Featuring an optical digital input and two line level inputs, this little amp has the capacity for connecting a full system. You can use the optical digital or AUX inputs for your TV, leaving the other sockets available for the matching Tangent Tuner and CD player – or any other sources components.

Wake on Bluetooth and AUX
Helping save you energy, the Ampster BT II switches into standby when no Bluetooth signal is detected. Once a music signal is detected, it wakes automatically – as it does with an AUX input, too. This is ideal when used with a network device, such as Chromecast Audio, Apple AirPort Express or similar product, as Ampster BT II turns on as soon as you start playing music through your network.

Compact size
Narrower than most Hi-Fi separates, the compact Tangent Ampster BT II fits tighter spaces. The matching tuner and CD player make up a neat system that has the convenience of a mini system with the sound quality of separates.

System remote control and outboard IR sensor
The supplied remote control doesn’t just operate the amp, it also controls a full tangent system, including CD player and tuner – making the full Tangent system every bit as convenient as an all-in-one system. Also included is an outboard IR (InfraRed) sensor. This lets you place the amp out of sight while still maintaining full remote control – perfect if your system’s in a cabinet.

Give your listening experience a boost, with the Tangent Ampster BT II.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Tangent Ampster - you get what you pay for Bought a month ago - it works well and is easy to set up - the sound is average. It would work well with a small tv in a spare room.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent sound and features. Excellent value Bought to replace 35 yo Rotel amp, added bonus of Bluetooth. Improvement in sound quality was immediately obvious. Small box and unobtrusive appearance is also a bonus.as far a I am concerned. AV Forums review convinced me it was a good decision and it has more than lived up to the hype.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I required I asked for a simple amp to run my two mission speakers... Preferably with Bluetooth so I can connect my phone/other devices. This was recommended by Diego at Richer sounds. Plugged it in and away I went. Very simple to use and does the job for my basic home needs like having it linked upto my projector. Home cinema experience A*

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Compact, well built and sounds excellent Purchased to connect speakers to my PC, replacing an 90s full-size NAD amp. The compact dimensions were the primary attraction, however I've been really impressed with the sound. When listening to music I've noticed details that were completely missing before. Build quality is excellent and the aesthetics are minimalist and attractive, with a black steel body and brushed black aluminium faceplate. Auto-power on/off is useful as I often forget to switch my old amp off, however I do wish that there was a nice physical power switch on the front of the unit. The switch at the rear isn't convenient and switching to deeper standby (where the unit won't automatically power up - useful when you're using headphones at night) takes an uncomfortably long press on the volume knob. The only other complaint I have is the volume knob. First it's a 'clicky' type with no start/end points. I personally prefer a nice smoothly damped volume know which only turns from 0-10, rather than one that continues to spin. Makes it easier to know where your volume is set before switching on. The knob also has a set screw that holds it in place, which is neither attractive or nice to touch. I'd still buy the same unit again and overall I'm very pleased with it, but if they ironed out those minor irritations I'd probably buy a version 3!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Remarkable sound quality for the money I bought the Tangent Ampster BT2 because I wanted to build a second system with new components but on very tight budget, just to see what I could come up with for very little money, as a sort of challenge to myself. So I bought the Ampster along with some Tibo Legacy 1+’s for £35 from Tibo’s ebay shop [normally £129] and some £50 speaker stands from Amazon. I am using a cheap Eltax subwoofer I acquired for little money also. I had some Chord Company speaker cable [£5p/m] lying around that I have used. Now my main system is Naim Nait XS 2 amplification, Chord Qutest DAC, Vienna Acoustics Bach Grand floor standers, QED £18p/m speaker cable [£18 p/m from 20 years ago], Arcam Alpha 8 CD [just used as a transport into the Qutest] and Hi Res audio streamed from Laptop via USB into qutest using HySolid and a BK Electronics XLS 200ff subwoofer. High quality interconnects. I mention my main system to show that I am used to what high end gear sounds like. The main system is astoundingly good. Absolute perfection. So I have a very good benchmark by which to judge how good the Ampster is. You might imagine that it sounds bad by comparison. The opposite is true. The sound quality of the Tangent is absolutely remarkable given the tiny cost. How can something that is less than £150 sound this good? Remember that the Naim Nait XS 2 was £1600 back in 2013 when I bought mine and that the current, hardly changed Naim Nait XS 3 is currently about £2200. The Tangent is well made and very nicely finished. It works perfectly and sounds way better than you might reasonably expect it to. It sounds really good. The Bluetooth connection is really good. It switches itself on [and off] automatically when you start/stop using your iPhone. A product of this kind really emphasises the law of diminishing returns in hifi gear. So I would highly recommend this to anyone on a tight budget, or anyone not on a tight budget. It is simply a very good sounding little amp.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing sound from a smallish box The ampster doesn't do much but what it does it very well. Sound quality exceeds my expectations for the modest cost and is also very convenient. Fits on my shelf, turns on automatically when it detects a signal, has proper line in sockets and very simple controls. Solid build.
