The Teac CDRW890 CD Recorder marks a welcome return for the format.

Records onto CD-R and CD-RW

CD recorders are a well established format, but the Teac CD-RW890 uses the latest technology to get the very best out of the media. It records on both write-once only and rewritable blank CD discs, while the clear display makes it easy to accurately calibrate recording levels. A choice of analogue RCA or optical digital inputs make it easy to record from both analogue and digital sources.

Centre-mounted drawer
Using a centre-mounted CD draw not only improves the Teac's looks but also has a beneficial effect upon sound quality. The central position promotes better disc stability and so less reliance on error correction.

Fully featured
Other features that make this an easy to use recorder include a headphone output with separate volume control, remote control and clear button layout. In addition to recording, the CDRW890 also makes a decent CD player. Full program, repeat and shuffle play functions offer all the flexibility of a standard CD player.

If you're looking to record onto CD then the Teac CDRW890 does so with style.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent unit. Great value for money These machines are hard to find these days and I needed a cd recorder so that I can archive all my existing cds onto cd audios to create more space

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Adding to my previous review... ...it gradually became more and more temperamental, and after three years doesn't work at all. A piece of junk, I'm afraid. Sorry.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works perfectly.and easy to set up Perfect product. I bought this to replace my Philips cd player/recorder as the recording facility had stopped working and it has proved to be an ideal replacement.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use, works well.Does exactly what it should Bought this to replace my old Philips cd recorder ( have had 3 over the last 15+ years), used mainly to transfer old analogue recordings (cassettes & vinyl) to my computer via cdrw. A few minor niggles, nothing major, but a couple of things to remember when recording . - The recording level has to be reset each time recording is stopped as it returns to the default level which is a bit too low . Easy to set with the remote or buttons on the unit. - when the unit is turned on it defaults to digital input and you have to change it to record analogue which can only be done on the unit , not the remote. - also, be aware that the mains lead is rather short - compared to all my other hifi equipment it's the only seperate I've ever had that didn't reach to the sockets. Also, a previous reviewer said their unit worked with computer disks - mine definitely doesn't, needs music disks the same as all my previous cd recorders.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Teac CD RECORDER Great product easy to use and was shocked to find you can use computer CD-R and CD-RW even though the manual suggests that you can only use Audio CD-R and CD-RW. I have had other recorders such as Philips and Pioneer which would only use the Audio discs which cost more.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from cd recorder Excellent product and at a keen price. Has all the features to let me make my own compilation cd's

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Does what was required Records music perfectly well, but the automatic track numbering is a bit pedestrian compared with my previous system, which could detect the difference between speech and music.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tool for the job It does the job I purchased it to do and fit's in nicely with my technics separates!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Equipment is just waht we needed, We required a CD recorder that allowed for recording data ,this did just that by using an external mike via a digital /analogue inputs. Simple to use,Very pleased all round by the results We would recomend both the service and products from Richers sounds,

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A simple to use cd recorder that has replaced an older unit that stopped working I managed to use the recorder properly within a short while. It has worked well and looks well made. It is very similar in both use and appearance to a very old machine from the mid/late 1990's that I was using. Excellent service from Richer Sounds when I ordered the unit and from the delivery team who brought it the next day!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very simple to use This teac recorder replaces an old Phillips model which served me well but finally gave up.I prefer my music stored in physical form, not in cyberspace. This recorder is perfect for this with both digital and analogue inputs.A headphone output means easy monitoring.First class machine

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does what it says on the packaging very easy to set up and straight forward to use, very happy with the end results.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Worked OK for the first month The machine is easy to use and the results sound good but beware. You are unable to balance the channels should you need to. The com error message seems to appear with alarming regularity which means if you are recording a long piece of music, will completely ruin your disc and waste your time. To date the com error seems to appear every 40-45 mins on both CDR and CDRW discs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This CD recorder looks good, and does a good job to. good looking unit, easy to set up as well. Once I got it all connected up to the amplifier, followed the quick-start guide and got my first recording done with no problems at all. Very easy to use, and has a good clear display. All in all a very good bit of kit, I would recommend this to anyone wanting to back up vinyl, CD's or digital music.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far I have only used it for recording records but the recording is good. Good service in the shop. Pleased with the product. I have only used it for recording records but the recording is good. The break between tracks is not recognised by the unit, this is stated in the booklet, but these are easily inserted manually via the remote.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Neat but not quite there. Easy to use but inconsistent on automatic track division. It may just be me, lacking confidence in the system or being impatient, it's early days yet. The main bug bear is the recording level control. It is very slow. A knob would have been better, it offers greater control. It's not often that I need to fade swiftly but when the need arises I struggle to achieve what I wish to achieve.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Long live the cd Cd recorders seem to be going out of fashion in favour of MP3 etc etc so this is a beacon of sanity in a world going mad. Very simple to use and works very well. Shame it doesn't have a second deck to copy cd to cd but otherwise it's great.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor functionality I will take it as read that this product works. It's just a pain to use. I had a Traxdata CD-R that had given up the ghost so I replaced it with this, and almost all of the functionality needed to record is absent from the remote, so you need to go back to the machine for every track you add to a compilation. The sync function doesn't stay active after you've added a track, so there is no way around this. I've kept it because I need a CD recorder, and the pricing was good - I just can't rate it on either front because it's a pain to use.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Review of Teac CD-RW890 This unit is an excellent CD player breathtaking sound quality it is also a good CD Audio recorder however it is not easy to get the settings right to record from vinyl with auto manual setting and sync control with numerous choices in decibels apparently the clue is to use auto settings but turn the recording levels down so gaps between tracks are detected so track numbers are updated correctly without problems, The manual is informative and technical but does not really go into the finer details of recording from vinyl so expect to create a few coasters to master it all!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A dying breed-grab it while you can! Useful replacement for my old Marantz CD recorder which has just expired. Good quality sound from a surprisingly well-built machine given the price, with enough control to satisfy most needs

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent as expected from TEAC Purchased to transfer ancient vinyl to CD, a task it does superbly and without fuss. Also have to mention the digital simulsync feature that is a joy to use.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very useful tool This cd recorder is very easy to set up and easy to use. CDs made are of good sound quality. No glitches found yet in recording from analogue or digital input. If I were to be picky, a coax digital input would be useful, but all in all an excellent cd recorder.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Affordable quality audio separate The kit is unfussy about writing to cdr audio/non audio blank discs. Control layout is simpified and the operational response is crisp. Playback of optically recorded items is of high quality.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from an unreliable machine The first unit was returned to Kingston as it failed to record the Maxell CDRs sold with it and introduced brief pauses at the 12 second mark when TDK discs were tried. The second unit has produced the same record/pause problem on TDK but made a successful recording on a Maxell disc. I need to experiment further, but the helpful Kingston staff are as perplexed as I am and say they take back the machine and refund my purchase money if problems continue. This is a truncated version of previous comments: the first version was apparently too long.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to use I really liked how easy it was to use this cd recorder and it came with all the leads I needed, even an optical cable. I have used it to copy my mini discs and then rip them onto the computer in mp3. Perfect solution and is easy.
